I feel your pain. I lost a dog I dearly loved when I was a young man. She lived with us for many years and literaly protected my brothers and me on many occasions. More than 40 years later, I still mourn her death. Especially because she died a needlessly miserable death at the hands of some family members. I still feel guilty and remorseful for not having done more to save her, one of my dearest childhood friends... Even at this advancing age of my life, I still get a lump in my throat whenever I think of her.

I'm very sorry about Simba. Here in the UK we have a different view. We try to neuter our pets, dogs, cats. There are so many puppies, kittens, and much suffering for these little ones. We keep our dogs in at night, and take them to the vets if they are sick, or have an illness they cannot recover from. It is no criticism, just a different way of life

Ours are watchdogs. They aren't really pets, and they don't get into the houses. There are those who have dog pets,too.
