Kaha timro mayalulai Original version

This song was recorded in late 60s on 45rmp plastic record ,. the only means of recording at that time. The song was very popular in the early 70s. Norden Tenzin, Shyam Lama and Franklin Mukhya (all from Kurseong who later formed Himalayan Band in Hong Kong after joining British Army) were in college in 1970 and knew the song. The Band started singing this song during its stage performances in Hong Kong and recorded the song on audio cassette most probably in 1975. So this song is not of Himalayan Band but arranged by Jiwan Pradhan and sung by Pushpa Jung Pradhan and Padma Jung Pradhan nicknamed Sanu- Thulo(identical twins from Darjeeling) The Himalayan Band has even distorted the lyrics of the song thereby destroying the inner meaning of the song. Whether copyright permission was obtained from the original owners by the band is not known.

Thank you Mr Alphonse Brahamin for uploading our original version which we (Pushpa Jung & Padma Jung Pradhan alias Sano / Thulo in Darjeeling as mentioned by friends of Himalyan Band ) .We recorded it along 3 other original songs at HMV EMI DUM DUM STUDIO, CALCUTTA in 1978 accompanied by Jiwan Kr Pradhan & late Kiran Kr Pradhan , my youngest sisterJyotna Pradhan Jamir, helped in the lyrics here & there ...it is copy righted .

It was 70's and 80's. And information didn't overruled like now ;). I most probably suppose that Himalayan Band could have been unaware of who the original Artist was since the song is so beautiful that it could have also been popular as folk song and people didn't really actually knew the exact lyrics thus the lyrics got distorted. So Its rude to blame Himalayan Band for copying and distorting the song. However we should be glad that they played their part in preserving this song ;)
