After working quickly to mill up our loft decking on the Woodmizer sawmill a winter storm was fast approaching. Out coldest all winter in fact. Reaching a fairly cold temp of -4F our standpipe froze on our RV water system. It was a fairly good test of the freeze proof ability of of recently built gravity fed water system. We expect temps as low as -30F so we'll have to wait another year for colder weather. Today Alyssa is also tackling a quick chimney sweep to extend the burning season and a tire chain upgrade on the backhoe to a more aggressive, continuous chain. It's going to be a fun and busy day getting our winter hats back on.

Shameless! How can anyone not give a thumbs up to a video with a cutie pie cat like that.
Alyssa is a real go-getter. You make a good team. Great channel.
My dad taught me at a very young age to "learn something new" every day!! LOVE your videos, love you two!!!
Great job Alissa
You two are amazing at this, and I know it's a rough, long, drawn-out process but I've been watching you guys since the beginning and it's amazing to see how far you've come! With all the little things and struggles you both go through you both are doing really, really well with this dream you're making a reality. Congrats on your progress guys! Keep going!
Nice work Alyssa! I love that you are taking the iniative to learn how to do all the things it takes to run your homestead. The more both of you know, the better. You never know when or how it will come in handy. A real inspiration to everyone.
I am freezing watching this video!!
Alyssa did the editing... Slow-Mo of Jesse chopping firewood gave it away in a heartbeat! You guys are awesome! Keep it up!
Hey guys, truckers call installing snow chains "hanging iron". We hang the chins over the tire and tuck one loose end under the front or back of the tire. (The down hill side) Then drive in the direction of the tucked chain and over it (over the hanging chain) until the loose end emerges from under the tire. Then pull the lose end up to meet the other end which is still hanging over the tire. A little practice with setting up and it's a snap! You can "hang" all four chains at once and roll over them all simultaneously. Hook all four, drive a very short distance and check tension, and off you go. It's normally easiest to roll down hill (over the chains) to avoid spinning a tire and causing you to start over. Absolutely love your channel! Best wishes for continued success!
Allyssa I am so proud you! You have stepped in and learned everything you can on this journey. Keep it up!
Another excellent video . My daughter and I , so Enjoy watching .
Alyssa, dump that slacker!! Just kidding Jesse . . . ;>) I signed on for the two of you. Don't really care for single person shows so you two HAVE TO REMAIN TWO!! Thanks for your time and effort!
I love your videos! Greetings from Austria!
One of the things that I like about your videos is that there is NO human interaction drama. I smile through each and every episode.
You leave Bugaboo alone! On a side note. Location for us was paramount, as we did extensive por and con of living in a cold, snowy environment. For us, and our lives, we prefer a southern NON-Snow Environment. The costs and extensive preparations needed to survive in cold environments far outweighed benefits. But that's for us. We are more "prepper" minded.
Jesse....never let that girl go! She is a keeper
Good job on putting on the front tire chains ! I have done this and it really needs to be very tight ! Thanks again !
Nice tone to this video. You two make great neighbors.

I have those same chains on my Skidsteer
Northern farmer agree
Dam! Love that FISHER! Left it in N.Y. miss it here in Arizona. We had the heat on maybe 5 times all winter! Love fishers!!!
In Australia, to winter prep your car means, wind the windows up, and install new wiper blades. Can't believe the amount of work you guys have to do to get your vehicles ready for winter.
You both are lucky to have met someone who compliments the other so well. I’ve seen a lot lately from asshats who want to complain about your content. They’re watching wether they complain or not, ignore them, or do what I do, screw with them. If you make them mad enough, maybe they’ll click you three or four times a day 😉
thank you
A co-worker friend of mine had his house burn down due to his cat knocking over a scented candle. The worst tragedy I've experience Via/cat was for my wife's birthday I purchased some very expensive Roses in a expensive vase set out so she would "discover" it, one of the cats decided to investigate, knocking the vase to the floor, breaking it and mangling the roses, almost demonstrated how to achieve a Cat clear area that day !
You guys are living my dream . My idols
I`m starting to feel a little dirty clicking on your vids CZcams is starting to think i like clickbait when in reality i love your videos.
Thanks for sharing again...
Who needs Jesse when you have Alyssa? Jut playing you guys work hard and well together.
I have been watching your iddeos for some time now and Jessee, I must tell you that you are very fortunate to have a wife that is not afraid to get her hands dirty and is alway up to the challenge o builing a house or doing whatever need to be done. Not all of us have been so lucky.
Kudoes to you both.
You guys are hams, but we love your videos!!!!!
keep up the great work ,I don't think you have anything to worry about Jesse , as if anyone coul replace you...(WE HOPE)
GOD BLESS AND GODSPEED
Hiyas, stooring those chains for the backhoe i would suggest a wall-mounted hook for hanging in stead of a box. Reason is twofold they will not snarl up and they will not take up much space that way.
We'll keep him around to split fire. Good job guys, teamwork gets the job done faster. Glad you investigated that bump in the middle of the night. Thanks for sharing. It's good to have understanding neighbors you can count on in a pinch.
I bet you suckered lots of your haters with that title! Well done.
I want to see you guys snowboard!
Hey guys, life is like that up North too - in the great white North of BC Canada - can relate to what you go through be good to yourselves!
Now just waiting to install a weather cab
storage tip for the chains put them in a bucket with about 1/2 inch of oil over them one chain in each bucket
great job guys !! our should i say Alyssa
rockin' the Fiskars axe like a boss.
using thermometer still in the package. I like it.
I certainly like your content, but please get your titles under more polite control. They’ve taken on a real clickbait feel lately, especially this one. No need for tricks when you’re producing quality content, right?
You know, I saw a great video about Bengal proofing your home ;0)
I have always wound that when i took off the tire chains in the spring i hung them up in my barn
You guys are getting hit hard over there. Hang in there. Awesome work!
AMEN TO THAT ! ! GOD BLESS
since you teaching Alissa how to change tires, just a tip to help , if a tire is rusted/frozen on.( . took the nuts off but it's still stuck on ) put the nuts back on but loose, leave a gap on all the nuts (about a 1/8 of a inch) lower the jack back down, if that does not brake the stuck rim, drive it slow back and forth a foot. some times just lowering it back down. : )
Love the new front chain's
Hi guys great job . When will be able two start the pressured 4x4s around the house ? And where put the barn. You could
you're boards for handrails .
I feel like there has been a new fan appearing on the stove every week haha
Bugaboo (sp?) is a sweetie.
You guys always seem to be plowing snow, but i see on the hillside that there isn't much of it. Did you install radiant hill heating?
Sun does amazing things. still over 1' of snow around the corner from us and our snow is totally gone. +1 for southern exposure!
Hey Jesse and Alyssa! You guys just got way cooler at 6:48! :-)
If you leave some slack in them you get better grip my parents and I have to do this with our tractor except we just have to do the back tires because it is a 2 wheel drive tractor and with slack we get better grip on occasions
I like that Alyssa wants to learn how to put tire chains on the backhoe why don,t you use tire chain springs and the spring ring
Great job chaining up..aloha
You might get a breaker bar for the cams instead or the t-handle, will help.
Ugh your videos are so addicting...
Another good video, its good that Alyssa is taking the chance to learn as she wants to help more, Wow be carefull you both laughed at what Bugaboo did but it could have been very serious fire wise, you will have to make it child friendly but for a cat!!.
I have an old Fisher Grandma Stove and never have to clean my pipes or cap during the burn season.
Absolutely no reason to have to unless you are burning totally incorrect and polluting the heck out of the air.
fan collection is getting nice.
Hey guys it’s fun to see another northern Idaho person living in a rv and building your dream home just starting on are basement here soon let’s talk and go over notes soon.
Hi Jesse and Alyssa. I watch your channel from the UK and have followed you from the beginning. Although I really enjoy the house build, I really love all the clean up and tidying video footage as well. I think the time lapse, fast motion and arial shots are highly effective. I also enjoy the narration from both of you. Keep up the documentation of your projects, not everyone is a hater troll! With love from the home of London Fog!
Here here to that hun I'm also English, and love their videos, theyre great fun and i'm genuinely interested, despite im in my late 70's. it was great fun today also
Sarah -- I couldn't have said it any better ... yes -- they are an inspiration ....
Hello Co-Englanders! Lol...
These guys are awesome and I only wish I could be able to do the same...
It's been a dream of mine since I was 10yo to build my own house and sadly life just didn't pan out that way...
Still, I can take joy in seeing what Jesse and Alyssa get up to... :-)
You know guys not all British are English.... Wales represent! Love your video's Jessie and Alissa. Please keep it up and ignore the hate. There are always jealous people who dont have the confidence to do their own thing and they'll always try to tear you down to make themselves feel better... just laugh, brush them back off into the loser pile and carry on.
Sara Howells you suck loser
Hi...I've been a fan forever :)....but please less click-bait more Bugaboo...you guys should rise above the need to click-bait stuff...love ya .
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Alyssa edited this video and Jesse edited the last one of the 6x lumber stacking.... I think the music gave it away.
best wishes
Time for another awesome video!
Thanks guys. keep up the great work.
Have you guys considered using a rocket stove/mass air flow heater for your house while you are building it?
title should have been ,cat gets grounded
Paint the chain tightening tool Allis-Chalmers orange! :-)
How many times do you remove, and reinstall your chains, and winter tires every year? I think most of us put them on in late fall, and take them off in the spring.
Wow! -4 F is -20 celcius. The coldest we get in the UK where I live is -5 C.
You teased me with the title there... so my next commend will be the comment to end all comments... wait for it...
Nice video. I don't pay much attention to the click bait titles. I just see it's a P.L.F.L video so that means watch it. I guess the only complaint I may have is when you say ya and yup . I'm from the south and I'm sure you probably wouldn't like some of my word pronunciations. It's all good though.where you live is connected to how you talk. ( I don't mind it its just a little pointer outer thing for fun) you guys are great. Alisa you are cute as a button. and your can do & can learn to do attitude makes me feel happy for you. You keep it up girl. Jessie keep teaching with patience and enthusiasm to teach her the manly stuff. Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress 😊
