Also, the Drifter Crossbow. I took out the first breaker you come across in the game with one shot to the head with the DC and the fight was literally over before I knew it. It honestly took me a second to realize the health bar had dropped completely.

The LMG is fun, and I like it, but even the MG55 isn't, on its own, terribly strong. Sure, it'll put a freaker down in 2-3 hits, but its strength is putting out lots of (albeit inaccurate+somewhat weak) lead downrange. The crossbows are more finesse/one shot-one kill kind of weapons. Getting headshots on breakers is difficult and i wasn't able to replicate that shot too often in the game afterwards, because the first one i came across was eating on the freaker it killed during the cutscene.

For taking out enemy camps it's Rock Chuck and BFG with supressor - usually I can take 2/3 of the enemies out before anybody knows I'm there. For nest jobs, Auto Shotgun and Drifter Crossbow - incendiary bolts are cheaper than molotovs and the shotgun for fun. For hordes, Chicago chopper and MG55, snce in a target rich environment, serving speed is more important than accuracy. And occasionally a mix up between these weapons for some story missions.
I wish you were turn on the setting that shows the experience gained number over the head of each enemy as they die. That would allow us to see how many enemies exactly are killed with each shot from the auto shotgun.
Change the RPD with an MG55 w/extended mag,now you're golden!,and the primary to the Chicago chopper,side arm w/ lil stubby if you want a "shotgun" in your loadout
I’ve legit had zero issues killing hordes. I killed 75% early game. Than it was legit a cake walk with the MG55 and Chicago chopper and mp9. Plan ahead. Don’t just run in. A few well placed explosives by fuel barrels or explosive boxes are HUGE. I did the Black Friday horde in 7 minutes.

If you're really missing the Story Mode Play, do it on Hard Mode and see what if anything changes... (I would definitely be watching and I bet others would to). Seeing you take this game on in Hard Mode would be EPIC... I don't remember you getting the NERO Injector in that last location, sorry but have you already?
My load out is a good one. I use the Chicago chopper with the machine gun pistol thing. But then I also use the drifter crossbow but use the explosive darts. It's great at shredding through hordes. But you need to make sure you have resources because them darts go quick!
Idf pup, smg 9, mg 55...pup and 55 upgraded with extended mags....but by the time you get that, there's not many hordes left...till then Chicago chopper, smg 9 and rpd

I own the Tavor (IDF PUP). It's an amazing weapon...im glad that the video game industry gives it the credit it deserves. As for loadout...there is no outright best loadout. Days Gone is a great game because of the creative freedom the game allows...thus the many different play styles that one can explore. Im approaching the end game and Im still packing the Drifter Crossbow because it provides more opportunity than you'd think. Ive taken out every marauder camp without firing a single camp-credit bullet. Ive taken out all the annoying nest-nests in the trees. And if you're out of attractors, the result of residue bolts against a horde is kinda funny...and helpful.
Anxiously awaiting the IDF i'm not quite as far as you, HORDE wise. But, i have completed the entire storyline. 70% for the entire game. Horde hunting too reach platinum.
Is this the horde that lives in the mine where the Major is held? I killed hoard inside by squeezing between wall rocks and killing them from other side. Still leaves about 70 to kill, which you can finish off from balcony with them below (I ran out of ammo though, lol)

It also depends on what your hunting. For people I prefer power weapons. For hordes automatics.

Definitely the the Thompson (Chicago Chopper) and RPD are a must as well as the SMG-9 although the auto shotgun is pretty damn cool as well.

Shotguns serve zero purpose, Chicago chopper with extended mag all day, one shot kills and high rate of fire makes this the best gun full stop.
Shotguns are good for Story and side Missions but are pretty useless against Hordes.

The breakers can be easily killed using the superior mase. Same thing with the reachers if you can actually keep up with them. Thank me later.
