- Trikåfabriken in Stockholm is an industrial property from 1926 converted into a dynamic, sustainable office building. A timber section has been added on top of the existing buildings, now joined into one complex, where 1,200 people work. The building is part of a paradigm shift in the construction industry, where wood as the only renewable building material plays a key role.
Audio description: The building Trikåfabriken is filmed from the outside and the inside, showing modern office spaces characterised by a lot of wood. Speaker in the video is Mark Isitt, journalist and architecture critic. The people interviewed are, in the order that they appear: Stefan Windefalk, head of project management reconstruction at Fabege, the property developer in charge of the building; Sabina Kraupp, communications manager at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, which has offices in the building; Matthew Eastwood, architect at Tengbom, who designed the remake of the building; Maha Galal Fayed, communications officer at the Swedish Institute, which has offices in the building; and Johanna Lindquist, director of business development at Hyper Island, which also has offices in the building.
Architect: Tengbom
Produced by: the Swedish Institute and Architects Sweden in collaboration with Swedish Wood, the Swedish Wood Award and Swedish Forest Industries in 2020.
A stunning idea. Building up without making a concrete jungle. Light, airy, naturalist indoor working/living space as well.
A very clever solution.
OMG! I like how eco friendly and modern it is! Thanks Sweden!!🇸🇪
Kudos to the teams involved in this project!
