  • Sram has stolen a march on its competitors by being the first to market with a lower-priced, third tier offering of its proven wireless eTap AXS shifting.
    No longer is wireless electronic shifting the preserve of superbikes and pros, as Sram has now trickled down this technology to potentially get it into the hands of a lot more riders, as crucially the lower tier pricing means we could see it available on bikes from as little as £2,500.
    Not only does the groupset look classy, with a premium feel to the components too, but it doesn’t disappoint out on the road.
    In this video Cyclist’s Senior Editor, Stu Bowers, takes you through the details, and gives a few of his first ride impressions

    Sick!! Shimano need to step up their game with electronic 105 groupo. Never been a sram fan but this one is pretty good for the price. Personally don't care much for the weight since I'm not using a lightweight bike and I'm already a light rider. I would grab this one if shimano decides not to drop a 105 electronic.

      Hi Rob, no it's 1x 12 only for this latest generation, but Sram's older groupsets are still available as 1x 11

    My money is going to SRAM. I hope Shimano makes a 12 speed electronic 105 gruppo soon. Until then, I am looking at a the Aethos Comp (Rival eTap - $4800 USD) and what Canyon or others come out with on a lightweight, electronic shifting, disc brake bike to replace my 9 year old Cannondale Supersix

      Trek is much cheaper - really! Emonda with rival is 500 € (i guess 600 $) cheaper than the Tarmac and comes even with carbon rims. And I don't work for Trek!

    Many riders will not be bleeding their own brakes? It's like he's saying the people he thinks will buy this are only inexperienced amateurs.

    • @stinkyfungus
      @stinkyfungus Před rokem

      Unless you own multiple bikes that use DOT fluid and use SRAM hose fittings it may not be the most economical choice to buy a SRAM bleed kit... that under normal circumstances will only need to be bled once a year (after initial setup) of the 8 bikes in my household, ONE uses SRAM hydraulic brakes. I'm fully capable of bleeding my own brakes... but i might as well throw a little buisness to the brick and mortar shop once or twice a year.
      You can certainly bleed the rival AXS system - you just need to use the old SRAM bleed procedure.
      The "bleeding edge port" found in the RED and force brifters just simplifies the bleed procedure
