Firefighter Training DAY IN THE LIFE with the MSA G1

- This week we meet up with @TheFireStoreTV and MSA to test out the MSA G1 pack during a live burn training day! We get to see what a day in the life is like during firefighter training. Minquas Fire Company No.2 from Downingtown, PA will be helping us go through the training day and putting the G1 pack to the test. The MSA G1 pack has a built on amplifier and bluetooth technology in the mask! You can clearly hear the advantage the MSA G1 delivers when it comes to clear communication. As an german volunteer firefighter it is awsome to see how you work on an fire scene. TV shows are nice to watch but how it's done In real life is much more interesting. You would be surprised how similar we work over here in germany.
Agreed, we are all family, and this has to be one of the BEST videos done that highlights the realities of how and what this work is all about (still love to watch old EMERGENCY episodes for the entertainment though…). Hopefully this video will increase interest in supporting volunteer departments and membership EVERYWHERE!

I have always loved doing hydraulic ventilation, it pulls so much more smoke in my opinion than doing it by PPV or smoke ejector

My department just switched to the G1 in the spring. It's great
The new quick connect bottle connection is wonderful. We no longer have to fiddle with trying to get the threads started and filling bottles is a lot less fatiguing on my hands & wrists. I also like the pack's bottle guide rails at the bottom & the improved latch system to hold the bottle in place.

The new G1 is completely revolutionary, and the VFD in VA that I volunteered at before moving to CA (where VFD’s are a thing of the past…) had transitioned to the G1.
This airpack is a game changer, and MSA has set the bar with the technology and features. Keep up the great work and thank you!!!

Awesome video! I just passed my NREMT yesterday, I’m in the hiring process with 2 local fire departments around me. Just got my emt to better my chances are getting picked up for academy! Being a firefighter is my dream career! Nice vid!

@@HeroesNextDoor most definitely. It's already hard enough to hear when there's a lot of noise going on. And that right there helps clear everything up
We have a training ground similar but since i'm just a cadet we don't use it as often. We go twice a year, once we will use the smoke machines and do a search to find our "dummies". The second time we do more training with the hoses, ladders and opening doors. This video really shows how things are done and what it's all about! In Canada here our firefighters do it really similar.

G1 packs are better than the old FireHawks but you just can’t beat the quality of Scott packs.
We would love to review the Scott too.
We just upgraded from the Firehawk M7's to the G1's and most of of people in our department that I've talked to, don't like the G1's all that much due to the extra weight, "additions" that seem to do nothing for the wearer, etc. Personally I've never worn a Scott so I can't compare the two.
Beautiful ALF engine. Shame they folded.
I PERSONALLY hate the Bluetooth and Voice amplification on our G1s at work. I think it makes it harder to hear people on the radio. Also, the hose on the regulator is thick and can sometimes move the face piece around when you’re sweaty.
That’s why we do reviews.

I work at multiple stations. Minquas in Downingtown, Westwood in Coatesville, and Uwchlan in Exton. All in PA. Where are you from?
How long do they have in say multi storey fire before the firefighters have to retreat , is it usually 2/ 3 mins before the chief orders everyone out
There is no specific time limit. It depends on the burn and structural integrity. The officers for the company are constantly reevaluating the scene safety.
I have a gear question how come the American fire helmets are so different from say the European ones ?

Is it a locality thing that the bottom rear of the turnout coat has firefighter names instead of their City/Town name?
Must be. We like to have some ID on the person
We have names on the tails of our jackets, and the station name and number on the back. The majority around me have names on the tail of the jacket.

The NFPA regulates a lot of the US fire gear and PPE.

I wish who can read this comment! If you have extra gear or suprlus ppe’s or extra medical supplies we badly need those things so we can have a proper gears and equipments! Im a fire emt volunteer here in philippines

Yes, most paid services make you become at least an EMT. Volunteer services don’t usually require anything, they usually help you get a first responder certification so you know very basic first aid
