    This Trophy Truck looks pretty good on paper. How's it drive? Does it have problems? It's been around for about 3 years at this point and it's still selling, so it's gotta have some chops on the dirt... right? Let's test!

    Ah, got so excited when I saw the thumbnail! Always was a fan of this when it was released. One of the first trucks to get me interested in the SC/Desert/Trophy truck part of RCing.
    They just look butch and ready to throw at them what you will... except that front, yikes! But overall, seemed to drive GREAT and I´m super excited for the 12-vehicle comparison!
    Hey, Craig, if you're a basher, you're the most setup-educated and most track-oriented basher that I know. And I know where you're coming from, but I wish bashers (and most racers!) could bring to the table the amount of knowledge and good info you throw at each vid. Always learning tons from you mate. Cheers!

      I start RC around 6yo with my first RC magazine who completely blown my mind. It was 1986.
      I stop RC around 22yo (2002) and finally returned last year with…….
      A SuperBajaRey2.0.
      What a machine………. Instantly fell in love with the suspension and the tires smell haha
      Competition trucks are totally new to me but represent so much pleasure !!
      Unfortunately in my country (France) it’s pretty impossible to find a track/club who allows racing trucks, and even less big ones like LOSI’s…
      Driving this on an off-road racetrack is really my ultimate pleasure !!!!
      I was dreaming about this since I played the arcade game « SUPER OFF-ROAD » in the eighties………
      I can finally taste this dream !!
      So unfortunate LOSI (HorizonHobby…) absolutely didn’t support correctly this model, what a pain in the ass to have parts, even tires !!!!……🤬😡
      Anyway
      I’m dreaming about a bigger Traxxas UDR… (what a beauty chassis by this truck, even more beautiful without the body shell)
      By the way, I have to say I still can’t be used to this new fashion into the hobby about cars with extra large axles and gigantic wheels (80-90% of off-road cars), they look so ridiculous and toyish to me, I don’t understand what happened with this, during my childhood it was Nikko RC toys who were exactly like that and it’s still the same today, why the hell real RC’s became like that ??? SO UGLY

    Good overview of the TT Pro. I've had a DB Pro for a few years and it's one of my favorite RCs. I recently converted a second DB into an SCT for racing. It's unfortunate that yours had some issues out of the box and that it came with the wrong body.
    My method for balancing tires is mounting them on a spare free-spinning hub, letting the heavy side rotate to the bottom, and sticking a lump of modeling clay on the top of the inside of the wheels. It takes a few tries to get the right amount of clay in the right spot, but it helps make the car drive more smoothly.
    It also seems like you may need to recalibrate the throttle in the ESC. You should be able to find the process in the manual.
    RPM makes a front bumper for the SCTE that is compatible (you'll need longer M4 screws for it----it comes with SAE hardware). It doesn't attach to the bulkhead at all and it has a built-in skid. The stock front bumper and body design are rather questionable. The Arrma Mojave integrates the front valance/skirt into the bumper rather than the body, which looks better and is much more durable.
    My Tenacities have a good amount of slop in the steering as well. Most of it seems to come from the rod ends. Exotek makes an aluminum steering rack, which helps make the steering more precise.
    Looking forward to future SCT review/comparison videos. 🙂

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Před 7 měsíci +3

      What a super helpful comment, thank you!
      I've made my own wheel balancing jig, just like yours. Hadn't decided on the weight though - I like the modeling clay idea, that's smart.
      ESC has since been calibrated, yes! It did need it!
      I've just bought the bumper, thanks heaps for putting me onto it.
      Steering is next! Thanks again :)

    Losi is a high quality car. I found out about this specific model through a friend who has the version with a desert buggy body and I don't think it has had the sales success it should have. Between the Senton by price (in the end it is the same company) and the Baja Rey, because it is the brand's flagship model, have taken away many sales. The popularity of the Slash has not helped him either. It is likely that the wheels are deformed because they have been inside the box for a long time. I love this super comparison you are making, thank you.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Před 7 měsíci +2

      That sounds reasonable, yes. I've not made it a point to discuss the sales side of thing but this model is very deserving of broader adoption. It's a peach to drive!

      What in particular do you like more about the Slash than this car? The center diff, the sway bars or the alu shock caps?
      (I'm just kidding with you, these are the missing elements in the Slash 4x4 VXL that I really missed. But credit where it's due, with sway bars installed, the Slash is nearly as nice to drive as the Tenacity TT Pro here, which is impressive without a center diff)

    Hey Craig, nice purchase! Like those trucks. I believe the RPM TEN SCTE (73042) front bumper is compatible with the Tenacity TT. If I'm not wrong the Tenacity was based from the Ten SCTE 1.0 an d2.0. This one looks to offer mure protection and a front skid plate.

      Its mostly an SCTE so its more racer than basher so its not going to great at either.
      If I had my heart set on bashing a short course truck I would get the Senton 3s, plenty durable, goes like stink and parts are fairly easy to get.
      Your local dealer isn't going to have many parts in stock unless its in Losi Country.

    • @RCTNT

    Loving these SCT videos, I'm mainly into Crawling but I have this Losi TT Pro and I love it. It's an absolute demon on 3S. My body also got torn up pretty badly and I'm looking to get an upgrade. I've already done the RPM skid plates and a servo upgrade. I've also got the aluminum steering components as well as aluminum hubs and steering bits that I need to install.

    Thanks for putting together all of these SCT reviews! My young son and I have two Sentons, and we're looking to upgrade his. I’m considering getting a Losi for variety and letting his friends race the extra Senton. We live in a remote area, so it’s truly backyard racing, but we want to keep things 1/10 scale.
    I’m a bit concerned about the Losi since it's over 5 years old - is what is keeping me from pulling the trigger on buying. It didn’t sell well, and even finding parts online has been tough for me. I also looked into the Associated, but the reports about the ESC issues are off-putting and seems like everything has been on back-order for a few months.
    That leaves the Tekno, (which would be the one SCT to rule them all) but the kit alone is about as much as I want to spend in total. Although I love the Mojave 4S, it's a bit larger than standard SCTs.
    After using two Sentons, I know a center diff is a must. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Honestly the AE is a ripper. Haven't really had esc issues besides the odd hesitation on hard throttle, but it's quite liveable. The cheap hobbywing BL120 is a good replacement but I'm still using the stock unit quite happily.
      The Losi is good. I've bought two upgrades for it and will cover that in future. Can't speak to parts yet beyond this because I didn't have issues finding what I wanted.
      If you're already running Sentons, the AE will be transformative. As well any with a centre diff, honestly.
      The Hobao 10SC is another impressive kit, video coming soon. BYO electrics, which is attractive. Seems like a nice kit.

    Everything is built to a price I guess but this thing carries a losi premium. Feels like a race pedigree truck with basher tolerances. Bench inspections aside, it does look to drive nicely, you can really see the centre diff doing its thing powering through corners. Given SCTs are notoriously rough on their bodies, the split front end is a really odd decision.

      4x4 short course trucks are great. But traxxas short changes you without including sway bars and a center diff. The sway bars in particular make an enormous difference, IMO. Even the Stampede VXL 4x4 (or, especially the Stampede, really) benefits from them. So much more stable, so much less flipping over. These cars are simply *fun*!

    You're not winning short coarse races with this chassis as it's heavier than the rest.

      I feel like older stuf maybe more value for money, but also gives more quality feel. Maybe also reason is, when buying upgrades, these are most off time nice machined aluminium or carbon parts for instance. So i am tended to say "full composite" car should be cheaper for that reason. That doesn't always mean its less prone to break, because composite can flex more...

      Parts concern is fair enough, though remember it's a popular model and the after market tends to support popular models pretty well. I can't make any promise for either of these, obviously, but one option is to buy the most likely breakables now (a-arms, front & rear skid, knuckles possibly).
      The other option is to just hope for the best and drive it. We can always Frankenstein in some kind of fix down the track when parts are thin on the ground. If you think about it, there's usually a way through.

      @@RCTNT one more quick question, sorry for so many. If I decide to go tt pro route can I solder xt60 on instead of that ic5, not sure if xt 60 is to small or have to go up to xt 90

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Před 5 měsíci

      No problem at all. I'd suggest XT90 for 3S, to be safe, but honestly XT60 will still handle it, even for a high power draw drive session. Just be sure to make quality connections: tin the connectors first, tin the wires, add flux if needed, then heat the connector with solder and let the wire be flooded with more solder as you insert it into the connector.
      Bottom line, if your batteries have XT90 connections, let that guide your decision. If they have XT60, that's telling you XT60 is acceptable :) (60A even at 3S is a LOT of current, XT60 is good for it!)

    How would you compare this to the Pro4?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Před 7 měsíci

      We'll cover this in the round up video, but in short, they're very similar. Both have a center diff, brushless, sway bars, 4x4, 2&3S, etc. But the Losi has AVC, and it's quite good. It also has an alu chassis, making it more of a track oriented vehicle.
      With its better body protection and plastic tub chassis, the Pro4 will be a better basher. Lighter weight means less damage in big hits, and you don't need to purchase parts from new to protect it.
      The Losi needs under body protection, IMO. Also something needs to be done to protect that nose, it's too delicate for how it's going to be driven by most. But it's a more refined drive, the radio is much nicer and the esc is more immediate in its response.
      They're both good cars. Track with some bash? Losi. Bash with some track? AE.
