    That binding looks so much nicer!

    I will be doing the same by using the binding on sleeves and using matching bias for the neckline and ties. I have the skills and will use them, but I think the other options suit a first timer for sure! Love the video, thanks!

    I have a favourite blouse pattern with an elasticated cuff sleeve, but I don't love the elastic. Thank you so much for this! I'm going to try it. I think it looks like a much tidier finish.

      That’s me, I don’t quite love the elastic and I assure you it will be so much more comfortable.

    Thanks for a great tutorial. I have been skipping patterns that have an elastic cuff. Now I don't have to!

    When I first started sewing, I’d skip over any pattern with elastic. But now I know how to hack patterns, and it’s liberated me from limiting pattern options. I do prefer a binding or cuff, as well. It gives a more polished look, in my opinion.

      IT sure does! Thats why I always change them, plus I cant stand the elastic pulling on my sleeves. BUT another lady on Instagram did a survey what do people prefer elastic cuffs or sleeve binding and the majority of the people on the poll said elastic cuffs! I think a lot of people like to get the sewing done fast and for me I rather have a good looking finished garment… glad to know that makes two of us.

      @@MassonLifestyle yes, I think the elastic might have been more popular in that poll because it takes a shorter time.

    Thank you for the video. Very informative 😊But I have a doubt. Shouldn’t we add another 3/8 for seam allowance? Since we are folding, it will take 6/8 of the length.

      Hi Shif, yes I should have clarified you need two 3/8" one per each seam allowance and you have two of them.

    I'm glad you're making this video because I have a dress with raglan sleeves which calls for elasticated neckline and elasticated sleeve cuffs. I was thinking that I could remove the elastic and add binding. Thanks for this video.

    • @MassonLifestyle
      @MassonLifestyle  Před rokem +1

      AMEN For binding! Yes it's time consuming to make it but I think it looks so much better than elasticated neckline or sleeve cuffs. Just make sure you cut those cuffs on the bias.

      @@MassonLifestyle yes, I was wondering why the instructions called for elastic when a binding would look much better. It's worth taking the additional time to get a better finished product. I got the idea from a shirt I made that had binding on the neckline, but elastic on the sleeves and I thought why not on both 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @MassonLifestyle

      @@roshandachark7820 When you look at this pattern the neckline should be binding all the way around. I suspect they do it this way so it uses less fabric vs. a binding that someone would have to cut at a 45 degree angle, create the binding and then put it on really carefully since it has that keyhole. At least we know how to tackle it. I will say I love this pattern and I have made it twice now (I wore this blouse so much both of them that they both kicked the bucket) but once spring comes around I see a few more in my future.

      @@MassonLifestyle I'm actually sewing up a different pattern right now, but I do have one that's very similar to the one you used in this video and I will be converting the sleeves to a binding and removing the elastic. My dress calls for elastic in the neck line and sleeve, but I'm going to add binding, but I'm hoping the neckline is not left too large. Guess I'll need to gather tightly.

      @@roshandachark7820 you might need to do, just keep that in mind. Make sure you try it first.

    if we have 3/8 seam allowance, shouldn't we add 6/8ths (3/4 inch) to the pattern?? Guess 3/8ths doesn't add that much?
