Daamn man, what a great result! Looks and sounds amazing! I’m sorry about the bridge but awesome if everything is still fine like this! Gotta say that fiesta red is one of the nicest reds that Fender do, and looks stunning on a Mustang! I’m also noticing that your playing has improved, more solid, you seem more confident playing. Sounded awesome to me! I’m almost tempted to try to build my own budget Cobain Mustang now, the last time I think I saw one was about 14-15 years ago I think 🤔 or it might’ve been a Jagstang not sure

The great finale, at last. Thanks for those close ups. Those moments when you were silently doing the soldering work, that was intense, heavy breathing and all. I wonder if the heat from the soldering iron would affect the switches or the pots. But since you could play the guitar, probably it didn't. Yeah, your playing sounds just like the real deal, how Cobain hits those weird sounding chords. Grounding the wires, which I was waiting for, clearly explained and shown, thanks. Hoping you can sort out why those switches weren't cooperating with you. Great build, inspiring me to try out myself. Thanks, Rob, you're the man!

    • @theguitarmanifesto

haha the heavy breathing is down to my allergies my nose is fucked :)
No it's not the heat, I have rewired it this morning 2 different ways still the same problem I'm thinking the humbucker is at fault.

@@theguitarmanifesto Thanks again, Rob. Patiently waiting for the actual demo when you get it working fine. Speaking about Cobain riffs, I know I got the power chords right, but when I hear you play it, those correct weird notes come out. Clearly you know which strings to hit. Maybe you could even show how to correctly play them when you jam during your upcoming videos. Appreciating your great work, you are such a down to earth guy. Your channel deserves to have more subs.

Hey Rob, I took a screen shot of your video at 12:36, & to me it looks like the wires that go corner to corner in "an X shape" on the switches appear to not be wired right. Excuse me if I'm mistaken. But if you ignore the center lugs where the pickups are wired on, the corner lugs should be wired to the lug that is diagonally from it. The black wire on the neck switch is wired properly, but I think the white wire is not. It looks like the white wire goes to the same lug as the black wire does. And it should go to the lug that is diagonal from itself. And it looks like the bridge switch is wired the same way. Again, forgive me if I am wrong. I'm not trying to tell you how to wire your guitar. Just thought I might be able to help. Congrats on finishing it. It looks awesome man.

Totally sounds right. It’s amazing how having another guitar with the same setting on whatever amp will be close, super close, but as soon as a Mustang, jagstang or signature Jaguar gets plugged in it’s immediately that tone. I’m getting a mustang 90 tomorrow morning and I plan on doing this build, slanting the p90s but adding the dynamic tailpiece and the proper mustang switching. Should be interesting. Yours came out sweet though. Good job.

Hi Rob, guitar looks stunning! Sorry to hear about the wiring problems, I've been having very similar issues with my jaguar, the bridge position coil split roller is stuck in single coil mode no matter where it is moved. I'm getting it fixed on Tuesday, I think it's just a bad solder joint. Guitar sounds ok, nothing personal to that guitar but to be honest I'm not the biggest fan of how any mustangs sound. I much prefer the sound of jags with humbuckers 😂, I'm busting to get my hands on the Cobain signature lol. Also what do you think of the squire classic vibe telecaster? I want to get a sunburst one with double binding and get a Seymour Duncan Hotrail in the bridge, I think it will be awsome! I played a cheaper fender tele in a local guitar shop and I think I've got a weakness for them 😂

so far so good rob! i might have a solution to the switches being temperamental. i did a rewiring of my duo sonic last summer and i tested the electronics before screwing in the pickguard and it was okay however once i screwed the pickguard on and strung her up nothing was coming through. through trial and error i figured out that i put the toggle switch upside down! something about it being upside down lead it to short out once the electronics were snug inside the cavity. i flipped the switch around and she’s been rocking out ever since 🤟🏻 so maybe you could take a look at your pickup switches and see if they’re facing the right way under the pickguard? anyways it sounds good so far rob! i’m really digging it 👍🏻

The Meat Manifesto I’m being facetious! Ignore me.. i tried cloth and failed miserably!! I loved what you did with the mustang. I’m really into modding, so these vids are like therapy to me!! Your channel is my latest find, keep it up bud!!

😂😂 I find it easier to use just make sure you use the pull back version saves trimming the end pieces.
Plenty more mod videos to come and glad you're enjoying them.
      Welcome to the channel 🎸😎👌

@@theguitarmanifesto glad you found the issue and it was a simple fix. Thanks for sharing the series. It’s been inspirational. I’m going to be building a Cobain Lake Placid Blue Competition Mustang, as used in the Smells Like Teen Spirit video, from a Harley Benton MS-60 Vintage Left Handed. Not sure whether to do the SD pup change as that guitar had single pups. Loving the sound of your build, though. And you can play, too.🤘🏼
