Togakushi Ninja & Folk Museum

Togakushi (戸隠) prospered as a place where people retreated to the mountains to practice and attain enlightenment. This kind of nature worship and training in the mountains gave birth to the ninja (忍者). The founder of Togakushi school is said to be Daisuke Nishina (仁科大助), who learned mountain asceticism here. This school still has successors. Takumi Tsutsui (筒井巧), the 35th head of the school, is teaching ninja art. There is an interesting facility that introduces the ninja art and the old lifestyles in the village. This facility is a combination of the Ninja Museum (戸隠流忍法資料館), the Ninja House (忍者からくり屋敷) and the Folk Museum (戸隠民俗館). This video introduces the two museums and the mansion.
