Hey jerk. At least "post millennials" are playing classics and masterpieces like this game unlike new and overrated garbage like CoD, Fortnite, and other new games. I can also say some newer fighting games aren't that great either compared to older ones.
I'm a post millennial as you call it. The correct term is Gen Z btw and Darkstalkers is my favorite fighting game franchise. I bought Resurrection on Xbox 360 around 1-2+ years ago as I wanted to try it out and it was awesome. The soundtrack, gameplay, characters, artstyle, it even has some deep lore. Everything about Darkstalkers is amazing.
Some "kid" enjoys and plays an old game. How about that? Too bad it doesn't have a sequel, but its for the best as Capcom hasn't been nailing it on their fighting games. SFV was ok, but MVCI was just not ok.
@@HumanPhilosopherPatriot while I agree with your point, we have Had some FIRE fighting games in recent years, and just games in general. CoD is honestly a super fun casual game to fuck around on with your friends especially like Bo1, Mw3 and Bo2 i see why the more modern ones get hate but still. You don't need to hate on a generation or genre of games to reinforce your argument about old games being good, I think its better to argue to merits of old games over the short comings of newer ones.
Dark Stalkers def has a special place in my heart.
This came out during an era where i was gobbling 2d fighters left and right. Between the Snes, Neo Geo, and my PS1 i spent a lot of time on like KoF, Art of Fighting, Samurai Shodown, Battle Arena Toshinden, SF, and pretty much anything else Capcom (Dark Stalkers, Rival Schools, Children of the Atom, Versus games, etc).
Same then Dreamcast

These were the best games. Required skill and zoning and actually understanding the character mechanics. This along with CvS2 were my favorites to play.

This is the only game that has been able to displace SF on my list. Amazing atmosphere, interesting characters and prohibitively hardcore gameplay.
out of all the characters Lei Lei looked so fun to play, very fast and aggressive and a large variety of tools. Love the character designs too! this is really a gem of an old fighting game

Tbh i think Microwave Mayo's game ain't half bad seeing they've all only been playing this for like what? a month? This program really seems kinda neat.

Honestly I think Microwave Mayo would've done better if he stuck to Anakaris. His fights earlier in the tournament showed he was really good at adapting his gameplan with the mummy, and he lost every round that he played Zabel or Gallon. If he more consistently played Anakaris, I think he could've seen jmcroft's gameplan and countered. Overall, though, he did really well and was definitely one of the best players in the tournament.
Darkstalkers 4 is so long overdue
Unfortunately wont happen per Capcom. If it cant sell 2 mil it wont happen.

I would love it, but I’m scared that they would make it 3D. Darkstalkers just has such amazing sprite work and animation, and 3D would just totally ruin it
With the new change in management for Capcom's fighting game division, hopefully we can get a new game soon.

Right. It bothered me when capcom said thier fighters dont belong in the mk universe . this whole series. Evil ryu,kage, akuma, violent ken, fang, bison. I can go on but what's the point.
Mayo had a solid strat but his flaw was not being able to adjust. Very talented dude, hope to see improvement but damn big grats JM
Some people are amazing and have amazing game plans but when that gameplan is negated, find it really hard to do anything else.

You can score more damage on a command throw using Hsien-ko mashing the buttons just after the throw frame occurs. She looks like a spinning break dancing meat mincer when done correctly.
This game looks great. I'd live to see a modern installment

Capcom doesn't really do modern installments anymore, with how theit last few have gone over
They tried to rerelease Drakstalkers 3 a while back to dtermine how many people would be interested in a sequel. A terrible idea, but it was the idea used to determine this series' future, so who knows if we'll ever get another installment.

Anakaris is confusing fun. He also has a special move throw that only works when he's knocked down, which is the best wake up

It does my heart good to see this game being enjoyed so long after its release. Probably my favorite fighting game ever.
Vsav is the only 90's Capcom game that is as joyful to move around and fight in as a KOF game for me.
This is why darkstalkers is so deep. Mayo took the mummy considered bottom tier, and made him into the most intimidating player-character combo in the tournament with the hybrid zoning/mixup rushdown style. You can really be so creative with whoever you choose to main and make them totally your own.
Thanks for reminding me that, even though I'm hot garbage at this game, I love to watch talented people play it.
I am a huge darkstalkers fan and it's good to see a community that still enjoys it.
Another one of those games that I regret I never had enough time or money to play, with such awesome art, characters, and themes.
I used to play the hell outta this game. Watching this matches is a trip, and the game had a lot more depth than my young mind could grasp. Darkstalkers needs to come back.
In MvC2, when played correctly I've heard Anakaris described as "harder to predict than a gibbon on crack". He can be everywhere and nowhere at once and his weird disjointed attacks can confuse and frustrate opponents to no end. But he's also hard to master.

This game is so cool, but good god, why the hell are the health bars the most confusing thing in the world.
They go the opposite direction of every other fighting game ever made, have a bright red background that makes you think it might actually be the health bar, or at least that the second health bar would be that color, but it isn't. And the round counts count down instead of up. It's like it was designed purposefully to be as confusing as possible.
I've watched a decent amount of this game over the years and it takes me 20 minutes to remember how they work every time I see them.
you surprised me , I was thinking that Mayo was a sure winning (his combos were VERY DAMAGING), but you totally zoning him and make him eat the Tenrai Ha several times , congratulations!

Never seen this game but it actually looks really awesome. Its got the footsie while also having the anime style unique mechanics on each character and nice speed. Is this on fightcade with rollback?

I would play this game 100% if they just placed this game online on pc with rollback netcode. Dont need a new installment. If this game got the diablo 2 treatment, it could amass alot of popularity imo.

It's weird how I've lately been seeing a bunch of Darkstalkers stuff, and that I am learning so much about this game I thought I knew fully. From other comments it looks like I'm not the only one either. But I main Anakaris and never knew he could eat projectiles and then use them like some kind of Kirby!

I really love this series. I loved playing these games on my Sega Saturn. I have the Japanese 2nd and 3rd games in the series. I have gotten so rusty from not playing this in ages. I have a question of the tournament requirements or if there are moves not allowed? I didn’t see any one utilize Pursuit Attacks regular and EX versions. Are they not allowed? Or are the not worth using?
