- Il Volo (pronounced [il ˈvoːlo]; Italian for "The Flight") is an Italian operatic pop trio consisting of baritone Gianluca Ginoble and tenors Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto. They describe their music as "popera." After winning the Sanremo Music Festival in 2015, they represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria, where they placed third and won first place in the televoting.
Formed in 2009 during the Italian televised singing competition *Ti lascio una canzone*, the trio initially performed solo. Gianluca Ginoble's rendition of "Il mare calmo della sera" by Andrea Bocelli won the first episode and the final. The show's creator, Roberto Cenci, had the idea to unite them as a trio, akin to The Three Tenors. They first performed together on the fourth episode, singing the Neapolitan classic "’O sole mio." Their performance caught the attention of Tony Renis, an Italian singer-songwriter and producer, who, along with lawyer Peter Lopez, facilitated a meeting with Geffen Records' executives, leading to the trio's signing with the American label. Initially named "I Tre Tenorini" and then "The Tryo," they participated in the charity single "We Are the World 25 for Haiti" in 2010 and performed for Queen Rania of Jordan at the 60th Sanremo Music Festival. The group eventually settled on the name "Il Volo."
In 2010, Il Volo recorded their debut album at Abbey Road Studios in London, produced by Tony Renis and Humberto Gatica. The album, titled *Il Volo*, features covers of international and Italian standards and original songs by Diane Warren and Walter Afanasieff. Released in Italy on November 30, 2010, it peaked at number 6 on the Italian Albums Chart and was certified platinum. The album's international edition was released in the United States on April 12, 2011, and promoted on shows like American Idol, The Tonight Show, and *Good Morning America*. The lead single, "’O sole mio," helped the album reach the tenth spot on Billboard 200 and top the Classical Albums chart.
A Spanish version of the album, *Il Volo (Edición en Español)*, released in June 2011, saw commercial success in Mexico and the United States, earning platinum and gold certifications, respectively. This success garnered the group nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Album by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 12th Latin Grammy Awards. The trio has performed globally, including at Singapore's President's Star Charity show and the MDA Labor Day Telethon in the U.S., and made a cameo on the series finale of Entourage.

"IL Volo" (which means "The Flight" or just "Flight"), just like PTX, appeared on a t.v. talent show before becoming famous. It was an Italian children's competition and they competed separately. They only met while on this competition show. Gian Luca Ginoble (far right - baritone-youngest of the 3 - was 14 at the time - came in 1st). Just to the right of Scott is Ignacio Boschetto (tenor - was 14 or 15 at the time & quite chubby. Cute as can be.) & Piero Barone (tenor - on the far right - has the most operatic voice of il Volo & has always wanted to sing opera, just like his grandfather. Was 15 or 16 at the time) After the show was over, one of the producers of the talent contest suggested they sing together. And the rest is history. PBS has filmed & aired around 6 - 8 concerts of theirs. They have put on a concert under the direction & guidance of Placido Domingo. They sing pop, opera, classical, country. Hope you can react to them singing their first release, "O Sole Mio" ( fresh off their talent show appearance. Such little kids!) & "Nessun Dorma" (while still in their 20s). Amazing. I have met them twice in Nashville, Tennessee. Such nice young men.

Mi favorito es Ignazio para mí es el mejor y tiene una voz espectacular pero Gianluca esta canción la canta divino, aunque no estoy de acuerdo que ésta versión le de un toque,la versión de Ignazio y Gianluca solos es insuperable, ellos dos hacen de ésta canción un poema hermoso.
@@silviaugobono6972 pero yo me refiero que ciertas personas hacen un poco menos la voz de Gian y yo creo que el con su voz cálida le da un toque especial osea no se queda atrás para mí todos cantar hermoso escuchas a cada uno y dices woow y mi preferido es Piero pero los tres son maravillosos y el invitado igual.
