    Respect. He could’ve easily said he underestimated him and his fighting ability but he acknowledged him as a threat and made sure it was known. It’s a Shame that people thought Brock was basically a big strong CM Punk.

    Brock is 265lbs of pure muscle. Strong as an ox and fast as a light weight, extremely explosive and overall athletic. On top of that he was 1 of the best wrestlers in America a few years before this. Why would anyone underestimate him?

      @@gauismaximus595 Did you really just say Jones? Tell me you're under 20 without telling me lol. He would've absolutely mauled Jon when he fought. Jon didn't even become a HW until recently and Brock would've been long retired by now either way since he's nearly 50.
      If he went straight from college into MMA and started training his striking and submissions, he would've likely been unbeaten for a very long time. Coming into it in his 30's with minimal striking training he was still dominating top tier guys. He really only went downhill after getting that illness and stomach surgery and he looked like a completely different guy after that.

    Frank was always a intelligent analyst. And was a former wrestler himself. He knows how strong the discipline is skillwise, and how it develops you physically. He knew what kind of dangerous beast was in front of him that night even if Brock was inexperienced in MMA at the time.

    Frank Mir is a legend. I’ve always been a big fan. Pound for pound, in my opinion, the most frightening submission artist in history. I think Frank is a great guy. That said, with the exception of Jon Jones/Shogun Rua, Brock Lesnar/Frank Mir 2 may have been the most brutal ass whooping I’ve ever seen in MMA.

To me it definitely comes down to Mir and Werdum as the best heavyweight submission fighters of all time. Either guy has a valid argument, but for me Mir edges it out. He won with so many different submissions and even won the title by snapping an arm.

    Brock lesner is just great at whatever he does
    He played highschool football and was great went to a division 1 school and played for the Minnesota Vikings
    Great highschool wrestler and wrestled at a division 1 collage and won a national championship
    He went to WWF and won the championship THEN went to the ufc and won the ufc heavyweight championship
    Brock Lesner is a fucking beast PERIOD!
    And doesn’t get the credit he deserves!

    For some added context on the first fight: Frank was bragging after beating Brock claiming Brock didn't know any jiu jitsu and such. Being a a real douche but had bragging rights. That inspired Brock to develop a killer ground control game which he then used to beat Frank unconscious.
    I thought Frank would've acknowledged that here.

      Brock was so focused on not letting him get the submission again that he just went into berserker mode type thing. He is a freak. That dude could go from zero to full Sprint so .... Fast. An his frame it's like a bumblebee flying. It breaks the laws of physics.

    Got the privilege to talk to Frank Mir personally at a UFC event in Golden Colorado. He was very honest about the danger that he was in when Brock was mauling him. The way his eyes opened when he said that Brock was a "monster" told me all I needed to know. The fact that Frank is a very physically imposing figure on his own and is a former heavyweight champion really put things in perspective. He was definitely over selling his confidence leading up to their second fight.

    Crazy to me that people who fought in the sport overlooked Lesnar as a threat. Guy was an elite amateur wrestler and was a freak athlete to boot. He was one of the best heavyweight mma fighters in the world at that time. Hell of a win for Mir

    *Brock Lesnar legitimately could have been one of the HW GOATs if he sparred and trained striking.* He literally did not even spar. He would’ve become much more calm in taking shots and learned to manage his energy better. Imagine if he and a good coach, and just went to a decent boxing gym. His power was insane and he could’ve kept it basic with the 1-2’s and jabs, and then shoot.

      Demetrius Johnson could've been the HW goat if he was 265 lbs...except he couldn't. Because changing people's characteristics alters everything about them. If Demetrius Johnson was huge, he would have been less talented.
      If brock lesnar wasn't scared of getting punched in the face he would have sparred more. But he also probably wouldn't have been so insecure to abuse steroids his entire life and wouldn't have had a massive size advantage in every fight. See the problem here? Coulda shoulda woulda.
