Made contributions to jiu-jitsu also, the Mir lock is no joke. Almost like a one armed Americana from closed guard, slick sub...
Right,,, he was sucha killer with his arm locks,,,,

Brock is 265lbs of pure muscle. Strong as an ox and fast as a light weight, extremely explosive and overall athletic. On top of that he was 1 of the best wrestlers in America a few years before this. Why would anyone underestimate him?

Frank was and amazing fighter that motorcycle accident really set him back I don't think he ever really recovered from so sad but I still think he's a bad ass dude.
I agree. He never seemed the same as he used to be before the accident.
Man, that's how I feel about brock. That disease and surgery killed him, he was never the same after. And others targeted that area, which was smart of them, but still.

If he went straight from college into MMA and started training his striking and submissions, he would've likely been unbeaten for a very long time. Frank was always a intelligent analyst. And was a former wrestler himself. He knows how strong the discipline is skillwise, and how it develops you physically. He knew what kind of dangerous beast was in front of him that night even if Brock was inexperienced in MMA at the time.
Frank was the only person that actually gave lesner the respect he deserved coming up to his first fight. Like he sais everyone was just punking on lesner just because he was from the ufc
This was a badass fight even with how it turned out. Brock looked like a monster with his speed and wrestling then his power. I was mad for a little bit but I knew Brock was gonna do great after.this fight with an ex champ
Frank seems to treat every opponent seriously. I think that's the reason he was so successful, his abilities combined with his intelligence.
Yeah it’s smart to NOT underestimate any OPPONENT.
I like Frank he’s a legit bad ass
Frank Mir is a legend. I’ve always been a big fan. Pound for pound, in my opinion, the most frightening submission artist in history. I think Frank is a great guy. That said, with the exception of Jon Jones/Shogun Rua, Brock Lesnar/Frank Mir 2 may have been the most brutal ass whooping I’ve ever seen in MMA.
For subs in think it's a fun Convo between him, big nog, Werdum and Brendan Schaub...

Mir vs big nog was incredible the say they rolled on the floor and snapped big nogs arm
@@mastrorj68 I don't know how you could put Big Nog above Mir considering Frank beat him twice, one time by breaking his arm via submission. To me it definitely comes down to Mir and Werdum as the best heavyweight submission fighters of all time. Either guy has a valid argument, but for me Mir edges it out. He won with so many different submissions and even won the title by snapping an arm.
Brock lesner is just great at whatever he does
He played highschool football and was great went to a division 1 school and played for the Minnesota Vikings
Great highschool wrestler and wrestled at a division 1 collage and won a national championship
He went to WWF and won the championship THEN went to the ufc and won the ufc heavyweight championship

@Cody W Thats not uncommon in College Wrestling. Mostly if your from a small high school.
Blessed with size bro.. Natural ability.
For some added context on the first fight: Frank was bragging after beating Brock claiming Brock didn't know any jiu jitsu and such. Being a a real douche but had bragging rights. That inspired Brock to develop a killer ground control game which he then used to beat Frank unconscious.
I thought Frank would've acknowledged that here.
Mir is a legend. I miss that guy. I miss his jujitsu.
Still my favorite fighter of all times. He brought me into mma 5 years ago! A true pioneer of the sport🙌🏼

All I remember about the 2nd fight was Frank getting railed with right hands on the ground and in the audience you see his dad screaming "stop the fight!" "Stop the fight!!" Was hectic

Brock was so focused on not letting him get the submission again that he just went into berserker mode type thing. He is a freak. That dude could go from zero to full Sprint so .... Fast. An his frame it's like a bumblebee flying. It breaks the laws of physics.

Got the privilege to talk to Frank Mir personally at a UFC event in Golden Colorado. He was very honest about the danger that he was in when Brock was mauling him. The way his eyes opened when he said that Brock was a "monster" told me all I needed to know. The fact that Frank is a very physically imposing figure on his own and is a former heavyweight champion really put things in perspective. He was definitely over selling his confidence leading up to their second fight.
In the old days, wrestlers could hold their own.
When I got into watching UFC, Frank was the heavy weight champ and he'll always be special in my book for that reason.

I don't think majority of people fully understand how incredibly talented National Champion wrestlers truly are. Not only from a skill side but from sheer will and determination cause those dudes go through hell in training.
First ufc fight I really watched and Frank was my first favorite fighter. So sad to see the rematch but dude, lesnar is a tank. Deserves every bit of respect just like Mir.
I don't think I've ever listened to Frank talk so chill and relaxed. he's surprisingly articulate and seems like a cool dude

Referee never stop the fighter for hit back to the head like Mazagatti did to Brock.. if Mazagatti hasn't stop Brock this seconds Brock should be winner in the first seconds very easy by brutal ground and pound knockout and he should make history in UFC with his first fight in UFC. Fact
*Brock Lesnar legitimately could have been one of the HW GOATs if he sparred and trained striking.* He literally did not even spar. He would’ve become much more calm in taking shots and learned to manage his energy better. Imagine if he and a good coach, and just went to a decent boxing gym. His power was insane and he could’ve kept it basic with the 1-2’s and jabs, and then shoot.
This logic is obvious fallacy. Lesnar "could have been this this and that if he did this this and that"
Demetrius Johnson could've been the HW goat if he was 265 lbs...except he couldn't. Because changing people's characteristics alters everything about them. If Demetrius Johnson was huge, he would have been less talented.
If brock lesnar wasn't scared of getting punched in the face he would have sparred more. But he also probably wouldn't have been so insecure to abuse steroids his entire life and wouldn't have had a massive size advantage in every fight. See the problem here? Coulda shoulda woulda. Butterfly effect.
