I remember as a teenager me and my friends used a driveway to turn around and an old man ran out yelling at us! We were all laughing at him and just drove away...my my the world has changed!! We could have never imagined being shot dead for that!
What's interesting is as a male minority teen, that was a, far back of the mind, concern.

Yeah, right. I remember changing drivers with my brother in someone's driveway. We didn't think anyone was home in the middle of a weekday and never looked at their house. It was pretty obvious what we were doing and were already set to back up when this guy showed up asking what we were doing with a very nasty expression. I just sweetly said, sorry, we're just changing drivers, and we left. To think we might not survive that today.
I could imagine being shot at for that since I was 16. I've seen very, very stupid people huffing Get muh gun or bat!!! When someone turned around and was already at the stop sign or whatever. Another time we turned around at a water department's driveway to a water tower. Some old guy pulled in right behind us and blocked us in, claimed it was his driveway (wasn't) and was going to f us up. People are crazy. Always have been. After seeing these clowns, I never turned around in a driveway again because people are drama and often have drama with others as well.

I'm not shooting anyone turning around but I'm also not being happy to anyone that doesn't have a package or an invite because it's people looking for meff, people wanting me to go to their church, tow truck looking for meffer car to repo (He has turned around here four times at least I've seen so likely 54 times and not worth the effort on his part, or it's the local kids wanting to sell me their junk candy bars, oh or it's Door Dash looking for the 3rd house on the left so this being the 2nd house on the right must be it and somehow they are a little upset with me they didn't get an education in directions or right and left. Point is for many of us it's almost always someone we don't want to see but better luck getting a Ned Flanders welcome next time friend.
Oh and I never did figure out what clown knocked over my mailbox turning around. Probably the same person that put ruts 80 feet up in the yard. And no they didn't do it on purpose because of an interaction. They can't drive. These people around here are drunk or high. Even the repo guy was probably on meff.
We use to tease and ring doorbells and run from grumpy home owners. It was so much fun

As a7 year old I was shot at by a blind woman for walking through her yard. All the kids used it as a short cut. She called me a whippersnapper and that was the first time I ever used her short cut. I will add That where I come from if you're on someone else's property and you are not invited you will be shot at whether you're hit or not. In some cases this is just how it is in other cases like if you live in a suburb I don't think that you should be allowed to do that that doesn't make sense if you live in the suburbs you're more likely to be following the lawsAnd not being your lawmaker. In this case of the video I do not think that he should have shot before asking questions. Then again, it was in an area like I grew up in, and in this case, you don't go into a driveway of you don't know for sure that's the one you need to be in. I don't know. Most of the time that's how it is, most people live out that far for a reason.
His attorney is trying so hard to make a case. The guy shot her like as if he was shooting a fawn. If he was that scared he should have shot up in the air. He wasn't scared. He was just angry and excited to finally see someone he can shoot. Pure murder.

I really don't understand why this is not first-degree murder. He had a couple minutes to plan on murdering someone, didn't he? The fact that he did not know her beforehand is irrelevant. There was not even a warning shot. So this should make a first-degree case.

If that’s the case, sell the house and move closer to civilization. His area is similar to where I grew up in the sense of way out in the country. We have a hard time with cell service as well. My guess he became alarmed because of the additional car and motorcycle. He shouldn’t own a gun if he’s that trigger happy. No one even got out of their cars. This is the 3rd story I've heard this week about someone getting shot or killed for going to the wrong address.
It's almost like the media has an agenda. There are constant cases where there are actual home invasions stopped by homeowners with guns. This is just more "guns are bad," Marketing. News is fear entertainment.

My understanding of the law is you can shoot someone when you believe you are in "Imminent Danger' and not simply when there is "an element of fear".

The defense lawyer has a big uphill battle. There wasn’t enough “intent” to open fire on them. Pulling in to a spot quickly, with no one around sure is maybe slightly dangerous but it doesn’t project I’m here to rob you. I just looked up the NYS law and he has no case. For deadly force, you have to reasonably believe deadly force is about to be used on you. They reportedly never got out of the car, brandished a weapon or made any threat. You can't be the initial aggressor, which he was. And third, you have a duty to retreat unless you're already inside your house. They said he was on the porch.

Your feelings don't determine the law. In the United States they are considered innocent until proven guilty. Bail is to insure they show up to court. You cannot say people are assumed innocent until proven guilty and also lock them up based on the assumption they are guilty before they have been tried. One or the other has to be the case. People want both somehow and that is impossible.

Please people, don’t trespass. You do not own everything. When you have a convoy with you, put your heads together and problem solve on your own. Make sure not put yourself in such a dangerous situation, unless it is already life or death. You approach a doorstep after pulling your entire gang of vehicles down a random driveway of a house that clearly has nothing going on, no party, no activity, no friend to great the gang as you all pull up. Just automatically assume you will be shot.

As a rural resident, they were lost at night. No street lights & believe me, wooded country roads are darker than dark. I'll guarantee you, they WERE NOT traveling at a "high rate of speed" or they couldn't have negotiated the turn onto an obscure driveway.

When you are going to a strange house, a friend's house you've never been to before, get specific instructions, like what the entrance to the driveway looks like. When you are lost and asking for directions, and there's no cell service or your phone battery is dead, go to a convenience store and ask a clerk, ESPECIALLY at night. Not being able to rely on the kindness of strangers is a consequence of the record number of guns out there in gun-crazed America, coupled with paranoid people who shoot first.

My son ventured onto some guys property in Pennsylvania a year ago. Guy threatened him if he didn’t leave. Some property owners thinks they have a right to shoot you for trespassing.
Actually they do have a right to shoot you for trespassing. If it's posted no trespassing. What you think the landowner shouldn't have any rights to protect his own property? This guy wasn't protecting his property he was just waiting to shoot someone. Or maybe he's just mentally unstable.

He's probably court appointed and it's his job to come up with a defense. What's he supposed to do?- just say "yeah my client is stupid and guilty haha throw the book at him." It makes more sense for you to be mad at the actual shooter, not the person who's required to represent him legally.
