Who knew the ORIGINAL marathon story?! I am so proud of Nate (but of course not surprised) 🥰 Hope this inspires you to do something outside of your comfort zone!
I knew it! That's why marathon runners are so crazy! The first marathon runner delivered his message and then literally *died*. I say this having run a marathon myself. Part of the crazy club.
Awesome job Nate! Love you and Kara. I Live in Bowling Green, Ky ( just up the road from yall) and wanted to tell you that both of you are an inspiration to me! Someday i would like to see the world in person but until then your videos are the next best thing. Love you both!
@@nonehandle688 if you saw all the way at the end, he credits the two people (nick and allie) responsible for all the footage that wasn’t him running with the camera
Cant imagine the amount of effort put in this video, talking and filming while running a marathon. I can't even last 30 minutes jogging. 😂 Well done, Nate!
Nate is literally a such a beast! No training, AND carried a camera AND talked through the entire marathon. Talking and running is so hard! And the camera must have felt so heavy after awhile
Not me crying when Nate crosses the finish line!! I was a competitive runner for just about 15 years (have had to dial it back due to a back injury) but watching this makes me happy! Congrats Nate!
@@tommynikon2283 Hey, just a question, and no problems if you don't answer, but do you think you felt better through life because of the running? I've run my entire life, and I'm looking at 40. I am a carpenter and can move better than all the guys in their 20s,
I love that "This is the hardest I've ever had to work for anything" has become a regular saying on this channel. The amount the two of you push yourselves is inspiring to say the least.
running a marathon is difficult. running and filming yourself at the same time is even more so. running and filming AND smiling--didnt know it was possible hahaha awesome video, incredible accomplishment
Nate:“With no training” Also Nate, this year: epic bike trip, canoeing and carrying canoes all over the lakes, walks across a state in a day, hikes the height of Mt.Everest, hikes another mountain in Africa… right…”no training”.
I mean, no training. Did a half marathon with a donkey even! like he says "no training" but all those adventures THEY DID do a level of physical endurance and physical training. Even if it wasn't running necessarily.
he's obviously in great shape, or he couldn't do it without marathon training. and yes, the formula for marathon training is vastly different than all these other adventures...Props to Nate for accomplishing all of this, topped by the OG marathon with virtually no training. way to make 2021 count!
Honestly how the F did you pull that off? I had to train for MONTHS to pull a half in under 2, and you almost made that with another half to go. My first and only full was 4:54 and i was running 150km a week for months leading up to it. As if with no training you pulled a nearly 4 hour pace. Absolutely incredible
"Hello American Embassy, could really use some help right now..." Made me laugh out loud! HAHA!! Awesome job Nate... Way to inspire others to do something outside of their comfort zone and just GO FOR IT! And yeah, that pain is REAL!! I swore I would never do another one after my first... that was 6 marathons ago :-)
I am glad someone else found that as funny as I did. 😂😂😂 Hilarious. Perhaps he was delirious by that time. Amazing and to think, he did it WITHOUT TRAINING! Wow.
Nate is a wild man y’all. He’s doing these amazing things for experiences and it’s just unreal to see. So amazing and inspiring and karas little message made me cry. I miss them together :(
Nate what you said just now about "every step beyond this, teaches me more about myself and what I am capible and leads to bigger and better things"... I needed that as I finish the last 3 exams/assingnments of my semester of post-grad. Noone has ever said it so perfectly.
Nate, you are our hero. Fantastic video - loved all of the history behind it! We are also very proud of you. We did a half marathon a few years back and im pretty sure it took over four hours with a LOT of crying haha you're a warrior! 🙌🏻 Wish we could have been at that finish line to congratulate you! 🥳🥳🥳
I know the original story! I'm Greek so it's an important part of my heritage! What a wonderful place to run a marathon, and of course you're able to accomplish this as you're in good shape as a result of all of your other adventures! Congratulations! You and your dear wife are a truly special couple!
Congrats Nate! This was my 2nd marathon and when I heard you were going to Athens I was HOPING this was the reason why. Let me tell you, i've now done 5 marathons, this was by far the hardest, 20 miles uphill baby! Your time was beyond impressive. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Oh my goodness. I don’t know why but this made me so emotional! The camaraderie and kindness and encouragement between everyone was just so beautiful and inspiring! Massive congrats Nate! You’re incredible!!
Kara and Nate you are both good role models for everybody to look up to and you're always so positive and cheerful. Great job on the metal, both #1 on youtube
For once I knew the history of something before you explained it.. I always found it odd that after someone died running the very first marathon people thought “hey let’s make this into a race” 😂😂 anyways love watching you guys so much and I’m blown away at the positivity as always!
4hr 4m is seriously impressive you should be incredibly proud of yourself especially since you had no training climbed a mountain. Congratulations on a massive achievement you are an incredible inspiration

Thats's an incredibly good time, Nate. Congratulations! You would have been well under 4 hours without all the narration, chatting to other runners and holding the camera. What a great location for your first marathon.
Nate your such an amazing soul ! You push your self across the "finish line" everytime !!! It's not a gold medal but it feels like it to me ! Inspiring brother !
I love your go with the flow, live life to the fullest mentality. We all need to do a little less planning & take the pivots when life presents a new opportunity. Cheers to you Nate!
I am Greek and i am so proud for the fact that you decided to visit our country. I appreciate the fat that you decided to make a video about an ancient tradition of Greece, the marathon competition. Hope you visit Greece again and enjoy the beautiful islands, mountains, landmarks, sights, food. I also hope to meet you in person once you come again to Greece, as i am a huge fan of your travelling channel.
Nate I think this was the hardest thing you ever did without training. The marathon is actually a big deal in Greece and people come all over the world to participate, but most of them train hard throughout the year. This is an astonishing accomplishment for you. Congrats and greetings from Greece ♥️🇬🇷
Wow Nate! Always blown away by you and your strength mentally and physically! Inspiring and amazing my friend! Kara you are too, it feels so odd not including you! I can’t wait to catch you in the next one 😉!
I remember the feeling of my first marathon, and it was a combination of pain/relief/happiness. I felt I could acomplish anything. I haven't been running since the beggining of the pandemic but this video made me itch a little to come back to running. Great job Nate!
My bottom lip was out and had tears in my eyes for most of the video. You did amazing and you both are such an inspiration to so many people. I hope you guys know that.
I've been watching for years... and this seems like the BEST VIDEO YOU GUYS HAVE EVER MADE! (But I haven't watched the Morocco mountain vid yet. So, lol.) But seriously, the storytelling, the graphics, the flow were head and tails better than your already enjoyable videos. It's awesome to see growth! Congrats Nate! ... and congrats Kara on the awesome editing!
Congrats Nate! I’ve run 10 plus a few more marathons over the years and other race distances too. Running has been a big part of my life for my mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health and promote the benefits of it whenever I can. Every Marathon tells a story and you told yours. 👊🏃🏻
That was amazing to watch!!!!!! I was smiling with you the whole time Nate! Wow I’m amazed! “I CAN DO HARD THINGS!” what a super cool accomplishment and memory! Enjoy!
I really enjoy watching you guys and you have inspired me to travel loads more (when we could/can), but as a runner who takes 16 weeks to train for a marathon, I am not at all jealous of Nate running a 4 hr marathon with no training the same week as climbing a mountain in Morocco. 🤦 Keep up the great work!!!!
As someone who has run 10 marathons 1) I do in fact have a good idea of how much you were hurting in the last part of the race 2) I am impressed and jealous and maybe a little annoyed about how well that went for you went even though you had never run more than a half marathon distance before 3) Also very, VERY, impressed by how evenly paced your first and second half were, as well as the fact that although you weren't trained you fueled and drank very well and ran a smarter race than many experienced runners do. Congrats. (And I wish I could run a marathon that fast...)
Wow congratulations Nate! You are such an inspiration and thank you for reminding us viewers that we are capable of doing anything we set our minds to. I really enjoyed this video! Now I'm searching for 5k and marathons near me lol
Great video, thanx! Im 53, started running 2 years ago and this year im running the authentic marathon - my first! Ill watch your video a few more times before november. Thanx again - you are so cool!!
Congratulations Nate! What an amazing accomplishment with filming and talking, no less! I cried when you crossed the finish line! I'm a little like Kara in that way. Lol.
Nate you have so much more guts and stamina to be doing this. Thank you for taking the subscribers along with us and giving us an amazing virtual tour of the world! Love you!
This totally made me cry. What an amazing and inspiring run, Nate. ;_; I've always wanted to attempt even just a 5k but my asthma makes it nearly impossible. But this video makes me want to try any ways. :)
I did the same thing this fall In Colorado.. i was averaging like 12 miles a week running and kinda impulsively signed up for a marathon.. did it in 4:20 and your reaction at the finish was pretty much the same as mine.. absolutely dead lol Good work though I remember the last 6-8 miles being a real pain cave.
My brain cant comprehend how Nate ran a marathon without much training, film himself at the same time, didnt feel embarrassed talking a camera and narrate at the same time... 🤯 WELL DONE NATE!
So impressed! Remembering my 1st marathon over 20 years ago, and it was wonderful to relive with you! When you did the marathon (because we follow you on Instagram), we kept checking the website for the marathon to see how you were doing. We predicted just over 4 hours, but so impressed how you did it. Most of us go out too fast and end up slowing down in the second half. You did so great!!
In the big group shots, how do you pick which faces to blur out? There's no way Nate walks around and asks everybody for permission, so just curious about the selection process haha
@@drtaru This is the thing. I can understand blurring certain logos. That happens all the time in media. And i can understand blurring /all/ faces for privacy reasons. But I dont get why some faces are blurred and others not. And why some faces aren't even always blurred. Makes no sense. Like here: czcams.com/video/FcajKmro8N0/video.html #17349 is visible but #17348 is blurred, but when 17349 runs behind Nate, he gets blurred.

That clown with the sandals on was an inspiration. Can’t believe this sentence was even written but here we are 😎
4 hours for your first marathon is an achievement! hope you'll do more marathons and inspire lots of others to do it! Well done buddy :)
You did so great!!
oh my word Nate, that is crazy!! congratulations
Greece gave the world Marathon, Olympic and Gladiators?, impressive
Yellowstone is our favourite show too! I binged the first 3 seasons in 3 days! Goood Job Nate. It take balls to do what you did
Who else thinks Nate would be an awesome history teacher??
Kara and Nates are so motivating and amazing to try things in life
In the big group shots, how do you pick which faces to blur out? There's no way Nate walks around and asks everybody for permission, so just curious about the selection process haha
I was wondering the same.
Yes! I was wondering that too.
Not just faces. Random logos on the side of the road were also blurred.
@@AdrianBawn this is what the paid sponsorships are causing, tbh it pulls me out of the real life experience. I hope it calms down.
I'm already watching this on repeat. So effing inspiring. Pushing through the hard times is such an amazing trait!
