I would love to see Carlo experiencing Little Italy in New York City. Go to the shops and buy pasta, cheese, and meats, talk to the people in Italian. It would give him a thrill.

@@paolotubo74 I brought my Italian friend from Perugia there once and all these guys in front of the restaurants try to get you to eat there saying they have the best food and blah blah, and my friend asked one of the guys "do you speak Italian?" in Italian and the guy goes "siiii siii, hablo Italiano" 😂😂
He asked the guy where he was from and the guy said Albania 😂😂, needless to say my friend won't be going back but we still had a great time
There haven't been any Italians there in ages, same with the bronx. Mostly Albanians.
So he can eat what? Chicken parm and spaghetti and meat balls? Those dishes are as Italian as the Big Mac.

When I was a young man I worked for a Italian family that owned a restaurant, we made real Italian sausage and it takes quite a bit of work to make it traditional but the flavor is amazing, working for this family was hard work and also some of my best memories, they took me in and treated me like family. I remember Jerry the owner closing the restaurant and say today family eats. I would say no work? He would say forget about it !! you sit down you eat I take care of it today. I would say I'm full and all I heard was eat eat your not full!! Minga!!

Hi Carlo and Sarah, Irish subscriber here in the U.K. - finding authentic Italian food outside of Italy is perhaps as difficult as finding authentic Guinness outside of my native Ireland (which is produced in St James Gate in Dublin) - many people say that Guinness tastes different when produced in say, Nigeria or the West Indies or here in the U.K., as many Nigerians have thier own versions of Guinness for example - I’m finding Carlo’s reactions to this Italian market in America very interesting, informative and educational - I worked for a year in a hotel and all of our staff meals were prepared by an Italian chef and he taught me how to spot things that were fake Italian, in terms of food sold in supermarkets and in restaurants, as he’d also lived and worked in Ireland for a while before coming to the U.K. 🥰

San Pietro, Antonio and Giovanni festivities are MASSIVE in my Brazil, my homeland. Depending on the region, celebrations range from great kermesses with ungodly amounts of food, up to huge street parties surpassed only by our Carnival.
I'm lucky to live in a city in which we have our own typical june saints food (a dumplins of meat wraped in fried polenta called "bolinho caipira"), making for a huge june festivities tradition.

There is a huge Italian festival in Hoboken NJ in September. It’s really fun!
The best arancini in Italy to me was found in a bar/coffee shop and on the boat from Calabria to Sicily.
Take him to st Anthony’s in the north end in August!! He’ll love it!!

I love my Italian food I lived in Italy for 12 years and the only thing they don't do well is bacon, sausages and butter, they are masters at everything else

The Italian part of Fiesta is definitely the procession etc. Otherwise it is just a carnival. You made a good choice going to Caffe Sicilia though. Definitely go to Virgilio's - they are my favorite!

You need to take Carlo to my home city of Cranston, Rhode Island for one of the biggest feasts....Madonna della civita. St. Mary is my city's patron saint and we have a procession on Sunday. Third week of July. My family is not from the Italian city of Civita but my late great grandfather says his life was spared by the Madonna when my great grandfather was a carbinieri. When he immigrated to America and settled in Cranston he took his family to this feast. Our daughter is fifth generation to see this feast but we've since move South. Viva Maria!
