I bought one of these on Aliexpress and it actually works very well for what it is. The menu settings took a bit of time to get used to, but fortunately I wasn't expecting the moon. Had two QRP POTA contacts using 5 watts with good reports on each. Is it like a top-line Icom, Yaesu, Kenwood or even Elecraft? No, it's not - but for what the UHSDR is, it works very well. This will be my portable rig going forward. 73 de WQ1C

I have a mchf sdr, it was my first hf radio, it work perfectly every time and I've used it on digital modes hitting a vk station from the UK using wsjtx, I've not tested the freeDV myself due to the same reason but maybe one day, anyhow another great video from Tech Minds keep up the good work.

I've been toying with getting one of these mcHF clones mainly for the caravan and maybe a bit of pota as I never go out in the field. Audio sounds ok, The cost seems great for what i need. Cheap enough to hide from the XYL.
    Thanks

I built a V6.3 mcHF radio. Love it. Shame that it became a victim of Chinese piracy.

Hi you will know how to configure the radio properly if you’ve built it.. there seems to lack any comprehensive video info guide on setup..

Amazing little rig for only £300 thanks to M0NKA making the design open source. I also run DF80E's firmware on mine which is incredibly feature rich and stable. I've had hundreds of hours of fun experimenting with mine and worked the world on it. Built in USB soundcard/serial port and all the inputs and outputs you'd expect on a modern rig. Oh and it decodes RTTY and CW on the screen. Why anyone would want to spend £1000 more on an IC-7300 is beyond me.

I built a 0.6.3, and bought the Amber TRX clone of it also, which i believe uses the same OVI40 board as this one.

I bought one of the clones - only because the mcHF was not available at the time.
The Rx & Tx quality are good - but I found the firmware really flaky - to the extent I've not switched it on in over a year! I'll download the latest firmware & give it another go though.

You mentioned this item is based on a Radio Kit. What’s the name of the kit? As my knowledge and skill level slowly creep upward, I’m finally to the point in this hobby, that I want to attempt an SDR transceiver build. Do you know of any websites or storefronts that sell anything like that?? If there’s a kit version of the radio you demoed in this video, point me to it. I’ve bee wanting to build one so bad as to seriously consider cloning and building Analog Devices old PackRF SDR. I’ve found a lot of little soldering practice kits but I want step it up a bit. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the videos. Always interesting, informative and fun to watch.

I bougth a derivated from de original MCHF proyect called R928+. The firmware its not the same for this QRP but exist groups and people can work new releases with more features. I have this QRP for three years and the last year and half I been using this rig for Digital QSO (FT8 mainly) its great for me and dont have intention to change for another QRP.

I bought one of these.. love it.. but have not been able to transmit on it. Power & SWR meters do not register a signal.. will the updated firmware change all the presets to optimise the radio? I know it has PA configuration at 5W and FULL but I’ve not got into that yet.

Hi i got one of these, i got it from Bangood, i dont have touch knobs, does yours have it ? I also dont have the touchscreen? Hmmm... when i got it it had the newest software and therfore i could not transmit on 11 meter, so a friend og mine changed the software to an early version, and now the 11 meter works like a regular cb radio, but i still wonder where my touchscreen is, i dont csre about the knobs, since the buttons does the same job. 73 from Norway.

We can't get hold of him? Monka I think that's the makers name. A friend of mine was previously in contact with him. Now he is not responding to his emails. I don't think these clones shut down the kits. I'm not sure what happened to Monka but he has gone silent?. Perhaps he took the jab? Who knows? I just ordered this radio from China. I think the clones may be the only source now from MCHF RS 918. I stand under correction. It'll be my first HF radio. I'm new in the HAM world. ZS6HOF from Gauteng South Africa
