#SteveVai #TeethOfTheHydra - Hudba
The fact that he uses EVERY feature of this guitar in one song is mind-boggling. I had to watch it multiple time to even catch everything he did.
I've watched the Official Video at least 100 times , I've watched many reaction videos , watching some reaction several times because the reaction was so damn good ! 🤘👍
Thanks for continuing to care, grow, evolve and inspire. Just came back from a walk where "Little Green Men" streamed...I'm still laughing after all these years.
Steve is an absolute inspiration. On this Release he has this song playing the Hydra, he has a song that he plays with his left hand only due to a trigger finger surgery he was recovering from , he has a song called "Candle Power " with a wild 4 finger independent string bending technique and the song "Greenish Blues" which is an absolute phrasing clinic. I can't is simply not in his vocabulary. Respect!!!!!
We're lucky to be able to witness probably the greatest musician of all time in real time, live! I already can't wait for his next release which is probably gonna be out very soon, maybe next year itself.
Knaapsack is the one-handed song. The surgeon who worked on his shoulder's last name is Knapp.
His ability to hit the perfect notes is unreal. He knows how to make each chord in the progression so powerful when it hits
The fact that he put a button on it that makes a moaning noise has got to be the most steve vai thing ever.
He really said “fine I’ll do it myself”
A Steve Vai reaction!! Thanks you 😭😭
April is the anniversary of the death of one of Seattles most beloved singers Layne Staley. Lead vocals for the hard rock band Alice in Chains. He died of a drug overdose April 5th 2002 he was only 34. We here still grieve for him. I was looking at some older reactions to AIC and ran across one of yours, done about a year ago. In the reaction you had mentioned wanting to hear more from them, but from what I can see you never did. Now would be the perfect time. Back in the early 90s they put on a show that will go down as one of the best concerts ever in Seattle, Alice in Chains live at The Moore Theater. Every song they did was amazing.(It Ain't Like That Anymore) is my personal favorite from that cocert.Would be nice if you could react to this one in Laynes memory. RIP Layne
If you haven't see it yet, you should also check out one of his older performances called "I Know You're Here"
Intro was perfect 😂😂
Geez! It's like Mr. Vai created the guitar and showed everyone how to play it!
The man is from another planet!
Steve did create the Hydra 100% all his creation, but he didn't build it. He sent the plans to Ibanez and was built by a couple of Japanese dudes.
ONE OF THE GOATS!!
INSANE!!
Just when you thought you knew the guitar, Steve Vai comes up with monstrousity of cleverness
Only Vai could pull off something as seemingly ridiculous as a triple neck guitar lmao
You should check out Pat Matheny Pikasso. It's from back in the day, and the guitar he had for it I'm pretty sure could be the basis for the hydra.
Luca Stricagnoli as well.. been doing it for years :-)
Having seen this a couple times now, it suddenly reminds me of songwriting for the Chapman Stick. As in having both bass and guitar at your fingertips and filling both roles simultaneously. It's not rock but I'd absolutely recommend checking out Kevin Keith's performance of Voices In My Head bc now that I thought of it, I might as well share it.
Every neck has a different output, but they're all going through the same amp. The way he did this is that the input jack is a fucking ethernet cable.
He is completely out of his mind!!! That's why only Vai can do stuff like this! Man, this is nuts!
whats crazy is that steve has played and partied with the greatest. he is an artist that has survied the..process. he is still here to show us whats next. most great artists died during the process. keith richards is the exception. RIP randy rhoads and long live the creative process.
The middle neck is a 7 string guitar
Steve Vai is a Genius of guitar. The best in the world he does not just blurt out boring scales. He bring the audience on a journey.
steve is crazy awesome
Mr. Vai popping in just to remind everyone that he accesses the most amounts of grey matter!💪🏻🤘🏻
"I once bought a Steve Vai guitar .. the one with the "HANDLE". ... Oh really?
Vai wrote the perfect composition for that instrument. That harpsichord is often missed by many watching this, yet its sounds make a fill that couldn't be done otherwise. He's one of the very few who could pull that off. My only question is how the heck he's holding that thing. I'll guess some kind of hip mount with a belt.
That's exactly how he's holding it. He had a special strap made so it could rest on his hip. Apparently it's so heavy that he found it difficult to not be able to move with the music in the normal way that he does. During his live performances with it on tour he even plays it on a stand since it's so heavy (I think he was working on figuring out how to hold it with confidence during live performances on tour without having to use the stand - he's probably figured it out by now).
We have anew GOAT? Glad he didn't go off on some Zappa stuff. This is very melodic and true to form. So much fun to watch him on this one. Love it. Thanks for posting
I had the same reaction. I didn't even notice the harp until half way through, because I was paying too much attention to what he was doing on the guitar necks. I also thought, when I first saw the picture of the guitar, that he would just play each part one at a time. Blew me away to watch him play all four instruments at once. I guess the only thing left would to do all that in front of a Def Lepard style foot pedal drum kit or something. Maybe add half a keyboard to the guitar.
It's beyond words !
Watching that video made my brain hurt in the best way it possibly could have. 10/10
I've never seen you actually speechless

I just realized there aren't nearly enough Glass Cloud reactions on CZcams as there should be. Please help us Metalbirb 😬
The lateral thinking involved is unreal! He must a very well organised mind, not to mention the musical genius!
To get all the sounds... in interviews Vai has said that he recorded each piece separately, then mixed them together... and the harp was the most challenging because it wanted to pick up everything.
The video is basically a play-along to the mixed recording. But I think he's working with Ibanez to iron out the electronics kinks and he intends to take it on tour. If he plays this live then that's it: GOAT.
He said in another interview that his goal is to be able to play "Teeth of the Hydra" all the way through live on tour. If Steve sets his mind to it who am I to doubt?
What I said was, I recorded each section of the song separately, but in each section I performed it the way you see it here. After it was done I replaced the harp strums because the harp pick up was picking up too much noise. When I shot this video I was able to play the piece from top to bottom almost perfectly, and I had to do it for 10 straight hours take and take. Two days later I had to get shoulder surgery and could not play the Hydra. What I said in another interview was, I am hoping to be able to get back to it after I heal and play the piece all the way through again before I take it on tour in the USA. Thanks for your post.
O.k, so it's one thing to actually play that thing...all three necks, (not forgetting the harp at the bottom), simultaneously! BUT....can you imagine what that thing weighs?!!!
Awesome 3 neck guitar that sounds great but would nice to hear with out any background instruments. TOTALLY SOLO!
the only thing he was missing was some electronic drums he had a guitar lead guitar bass guitar he's like that downloadable boss battle that we never got in Guitar Hero 🤣🤣🤣
100% Alien.
Most of us can play two guitars at a time. Umm? 😃
Pat Metheny - The Song of Water
the gang bang guitar.
Lol! Didn't know Superman could play guitar did ya!?
I’m pretty sure at this point that he’s just playing the concept of music.
🤤
3 fretboards and a harp lol
Three necks? That's boring! But with harp? Oh yeah!
