This is the BEST cover I've ever heard of this awesome song. Saxon truely did a great job.

Ah... Saxon made this cover in 1996, with Nibbs and Doug in the band, but the video is from when they played Top of the Pops in the early 80s. Probably playing Wheels of Steel here.

Yeah, me too... Once Saxon covers a good song, it becomes a Saxon song because they do it better than the original. Check out the new album Inspirations, just came out, eleven new cover songs, EACH one better than the original. Scarborough Fair was the year before, on Biff's solo album. Enjoy! Rock on bro.
How much of a tease is that intro man, imagine a saxon cover of painkiller.. although who knows if byff could pull it off, even Halford struggled with it live.
great cover of the priest classic, saxon are an awesome band and should be huge , get out and see them in 2008 , they put on a killer live show ,you wont be disapointed.

agreed Saxon had 4 top ten albums between 1980 and 1982 they were a very big band in europe in those days, and they pay a great hommage to the Priest here.
dont forget SAXON did this for the PRIEST tribute cd,,,,and its a great job too,just as many people aknowledge that some parts are better than the original, i dont think SAXON tried to top the original, just do a version and make it different, beleive me if SAXON wanted to make it even better they could because they are awesome musicians just like JUDAS PRIEST.

They're both important bands.
Priest revolutioned metal and made it was it is today, that´s why they are a little bit better.
But Saxon is great too :D
They allso got that heavy and kinda slow sound that I like and that´s Heavy Metal :)
As a Judas Priest fan I can categorically say this kicks ass and is even better than the original.

My only critique is that they should have just kept riffing into fade out instead of the big coda. The guitar work on that part was great and I’ve always wanted to hear that part for longer.

Incorrect. Saxon has been around almost as long as Priest. It just took them longer to get signed by a record company. But you can trace Saxon all the way back to the mid 1970's... which is around the same time that the first Priest album (Rocka Rolla) was released.
@Tessmage - Sorry but you're wrong. Priest originally go back to 1968 and their first album was released in August 1974 roughly 2 years before Saxon were formed in 1976. Saxon's debut Album (Saxon) was in 1979.

@skepticalvision Saxon goes back to 1970 as Blue Condition and S.O.B, the 2 bands merged into Son Of A Bitch in 1976 and changed their name to Saxon in 1977-78. But Priest is deffo an early influence on Saxon.

No, I am not wrong. You are simply nitpicking over a matter of a scant two years. Priest has their ROOTS as far back as '68, yes... but we could say the same about Motorhead, or any number of other bands. I am starting my time line with the first albums released by the bands in question. Using that as a yardstick, my statements were essentially correct.
Yes very cool version and i love the both bands very much Judas priest is fucking good band love them and Saxon is my all time favorite band i must say that Saxon is far moore better today if you compare them in the 80.s and Biff sings better today that he did in the 80.s they got better guitarist DOUG SCARRAT and NIBBS CARTER on base they are hell of a band today!!

yep saxon has a unique sound and biffs voice is deffo stronger now than Halfords.
Both legendary metal bands, Priest a little more for the mainstream fan perhaps...
