- Designed for the heaviest tones a passive pickup can produce. The combination of three ceramic magnets, over-wound coils and twelve black oxide cap screws make the Invader an electrifying force of energy. The wide magnetic field pumps power into your amp with a totally heavy sound. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable.

The Invader is the best pickup ever made for palm muted riffs.
Is it really?
@@joemarabella2145 its great james hetfield used it on master of puppets
So if you like the master of puppets tone its a great choice
@@jayden4244 How can you be so sure? MoP was very mid scooped and invader has a lot of mids
@@joemarabella2145 there is a article by ultimate guitar about it
@@joemarabella2145 james then switched to emg on the tour
Seymore Duncan makes the best pickups on the planet. There are a lot of good pickup companies out there. But I always come back to my Seymours....they just can't be beat. The quality and tone are unmatched and second to none.
recently walked Into a small shop nearby with full intentions of buying a set of emg's. asking the owners opinion which I value highly after a recent amplifier purchase he turned me on to the sh-8. I can't even tell you how happy I am with this pick-up. well surpassed my expectations. thanks for the quality workmanship.
We are happy it worked well for you!
hmmm thick mids...strong fundamental on the tone. i like the sound of the invaders in this video, other video always make it sound kindda muffled sounding
Alex Rysham
Its the player not the pickup lol
I installed an Invader in a basswood guitar and it thickened it up nicely. I love the dark, sludgy tone of this thing. The opposite of that bright, edgy radio sound I'm so utterly sick of. Actives are tighter but invaders have so much GIRTH.
I feel like I should mention that if you split the Invader, it takes on this extra-thick "hot Tele" kind of sound that's one-of-a-kind and very useful.
I use an Invader on my Dean Cadillac 1980 and it sounds AWESOME. Best pickup choice for my sound IMO. The gain range using the volume control is unbelievable.
Pair it with a full shred on neck position and you’ve got the ultimate modern metal set😎👍
This song is called Pillars of Creation by Keith Merrow!
Thank you ...I was wondering what he was playing
Mines vintage from the mid 80’s. The years have aged it to sound like thunder and lasers striking down.
I WANT THAT SONG FULL DUDE!! IT'S AMAZING! KILLER TUNE!
That was just badd Ass dude I've used invaders since the 80's
There are tabs for this song. The song is called "Pillars of Creation" by Keith Merrow (which is that guy playing the riff) I found tabs for this song on Tab pro. The first part is free, but you have to pay for the rest.
i read somewhere that tom delonge, guitarist for blink 182, using a invader in his ES before his gibson endorsement and i personally think that his sound was one of the best
i didn’t even know that he used them in gibsons though apparently he used a neck version in some of the ones with an invader in general
@@michaelgrahamwongacutemadnesshe NEVER used a neck invader. Please stop repeating false information
@@diddyfaplord fuck you what a stupid channel name so all of those people that bought an official signature model and found a neck invader in the bridge are liars huh
He was using seymour duncan invader on his fender stratocaster signature between 1998-2002 and then he moved with dirty fingers pickups on his new gibson signature ES-333
continued:
The JB would brighten your ES up, give it higher output for your medium to high gain punk stuff without getting too heavy, and it cleans up beautifully. My only qualms with it is I've always found it's split-coil sound to be a little lacking, and sometimes it doesn't have the output I wish it had. It would probably be about perfect for what you need, though.
SANDATAHANG QUESO yeah thats a pretty accurate description of what would happens. E standard sounds like drop C with these pups, all i could say when i got them was "daaayyuuuummmm"
Ive had one in my Charvel shreder Strat since 1996
Oh, and I had to totally re-eq my amp to tame this thing and get it where I want it. I use a lot less gain than I used to. Just a heads up to anyone thinking about trying one.
Bad ass playing man! And thanks, I'm going to put some invaders in my les Paul. Keep rockin!
He used to use an Invader in his solid-body Strats, he uses a Gibson Dirty Fingers in his hollowbody Gibsons. If you have a hollowbody and you're trying to get his sound, I'd go for the Dirty Fingers. The 'Vader might work too, but be prepared to return/exchange it if you have the feedback issues I mentioned earlier.
love the tone!
I started checking these out bc the SD site said the Invaders work well with basswood body / maple neck guitars (which is what I have). Love the tone in this video
+tatoo190 They absolutely do!
Would you say these pickups are really only meant for metal? I'm sure its possible to get other tones, but they were made for high gain tones?
+tatoo190 The Invaders are certainly built for distortion, although you can get other tones from them if you also install a switch to wire them in parallel.
I love this song lol
Never let a guitar player like Keith merrow demo pickups. guitarist like him try to make every pickup sound identicle.
yeah, if you are after a very bright tone the invaders dont fit. dimebucker is the way to go then. way too bright for my taste, but it sounds undeniably dime-ish. btw george is right. i use a full shred with a schecter hellraiser special and an engl blackmore with gain only about halfway, and it sounds pretty damn good imo.
I have a Jb im my sg and Your totally right its really bright, and im moving to a invader
重いけど聴いてて心地のよい音だ
Alexi is that you 😂
Thats what I've been trying to decide :P. Both are amazing!
massive in flames vibes
Cuál es?
Hmm, this vid sounds familiar. Where have I heard this before? OH! I KNOW! It's the same video as the one for the JB pickup from this same channel!
Hmm, no wonder I don't see an SH-8 underneath the players picking hand, nor do I hear a difference.
god dayum Keith is a BAMF
Keith Merrow you beast.
if you have guitar pro 5 (or 6), the song is "Pillars of Creation" and can be found on Keith's website just google Keith Merrow(it should be the first result) and find the "tabs" link
sick! that was rad
It certainly is.
you just heard it in a mahogany guitar with koa top. sounds awesome if you ask me.
HARMONICS!!
there should be. look for "keith merrow - pillars of creation"-
Go to keith merrow´s channel , there is a link i cant renember exactly where because i download it a month ago the song is called pillars of creation... or recreation idk haha
I have one of these in my warlock, but it sounds weak on Reaper-Especially my lead playing. Pisses me right off.
Keith has some tabs on his website. Google "Keith Merrow" and you should find his site.
it's keith merrow's riff. He use it often, you can ask him...
I see an Endorsement deal for Keith with Duncan coming soon. ;))
search for keith merrow, but i dont know if there are any tabs, sry
Depends which guitar you use it in. A thick, warm-sounding mahogany guitar could be brightened up a bit by the JB, the Invader would add some aggressive upper mids and bass to a bright guitar.
If you split coils, I would go for the Invader every time because it's split sound is very nice.
I have a Synyster Gates Custom S and this pickup has so much output it's insane. I put these up to every other pickup in my local music store including but not limited to EMG 81/85 and hetset thing whatever they're called and AHB-1 and AHB-3 and these came out on top for me for the most part. AHB-3 sounded better with the huge drop tuning but that's what Mick wanted in them.
I do have one question about this pickup though. Do the monster thumb sized pole pieces make a tone difference or are they just looks?
+FGFyreFox They change the magnetic flux pattern so that more signal is sensed by the pickup resulting in that huge sound you are hearing.
Okay, thanks for your response. I've always loved the pickups you guys make.
DiMarzio X2N, dude. Nothing has more output.
@@Admiral_Bongo 100% It's my favourite passive pickup. I love me some Duncans but the X2N sits at the top for me.
Does pick-up have same exact specs with James Hetfield's White Jackson on Master of puppets ?
that sound tight bro
パワフルなサウンドですね。ちょっと欲しくなりました
Getting one off a guy for $20 for my Les Paul 8D
wut?!?!
That was a bad idea (invaders sound like shit in a les paul)
have you seen the whole comparison vid where this was extracted from? here, the guitar is mahogany with koa.
/watch?v=ryzie8mham8
raw tracks in the second part of the vid. imo th sh6 is an awesome match for mahogany, but see for yourself.
keith merrow-pillars of creation. tabs are on his webside. be sure to check his stuff out, he's a riffing god!
Recently installed one on my main Ibanez and holy shit is it insane! Regardless of what genre of metal you play you'll love this thing. Quick tip: it's better not to raise the pickup too much like you normally would as it tends to muffle the sound that it picks up.
We love to hear this!
that's episode from keith marrow comparison vdeo
merrow is awesome
I would kill for the tabs to this rift. Help me out please?
The ES is already kind of dark sounding, and the wrong pickup choice can make it kind of boom-ey and prone to feedback, which sounds like ass when distorted, and ruins your hopes of getting a good clean tone. In an alder/basswood guitar, I love the Invader for punk because the aggressive tone of the upper mids sounds reminiscent of a p-90, giving power chords a sort of snarling tone. It would likely sound very heavy in your guitar, though. The JB would work better in your guitar.
if i put this on a mahogany les paul,i will get the sound of a thunder, each chord will destoy a planet?
Is there any tabs and/or backing track for this song? It sounds really awesome!
bom Dia , tenho captador SH 8 Invader Na Brigid , Quero saber qual esse seu na sua guitarra Neck ... ?
Wish there was a guitar only version of this.
It’s a Jackson?
go to keithmerrow, d.o,t. com, you'll find the tabs (and the song, and the whole discography of this guy) song is called pillars of creation /pillars of re-creation (slightly updated version) by keith merrow.
can you replace the humbucker bridge squier bullet to this pups? cause im thinking of upgrading my strat bullet squier.
Is the only way to get an Invader with silver pole pieces, to go through the custom shop?
I can order invader silver screw ?
Aye the invaders a heavier sound than the mick Thompson signatures?
They are EQ'd completely the opposite. The Invaders are all mids and lows, while the Micks are all highs and mids. Both are VERY hot pickups.
I love the blackouts too i own em but can drain ur battery down i like to have lows and mids and invaders are great for that
Will it sounds weird if I want to use it on alder body guitar? (actually I am using fender blacktop stratocaster, which is a 2-humbuckers guitar and sounds great but I am trying to make it better)
how would these pickups sound in an epiphone lp studio as im geting it in faded cherry and really want these pickups? ( in red :D )
What its the BEST pasive pickup For Metallica sounds ? Black álbum or máster of puppets
Meet Keith Merrow. The boss.
y dont they demonstrat the neck model?
A lot of metal players never use their neck pickups. Some even have one-pickup guitars. I rarely use my neck or middle pickups unless I'm using clean tones.
The Invaders vs the JBs which is better?
I´m looking for a passive metal-pickup for my Les Paul, is this one a good choice for a mahogany body?
I have re-soldered my invader on my guitar about 3 times following the instructions. And my invader pickup just simply will not work properly.I use a Randall v2 head which is a really high gain amp and my Emg fitted guitar sounds perfect, but the invader does not give a proper distortion sound,it sounds like my gain is at 0 and playing with the clean channel sounds like my volume is off ,i get no sound. Is it possible that the pickup could be broken ?
is there a tab for the song played in this video?
I'm thinking about getting the 8 string invader bridge. Would it pair well with a mohagany guitar?
Will this go well in an all maple guitar (body and neck)? I hope so as it looks like it would according to the tone profile on the Seymour Duncan website.
This has enough mids to cut the extreme highs on an all-maple guitar.
Thanks dude! btw would the pickup sound great on an es-335? im looking for a great punk sound and clean sound
what is the name of that song?
Keith Merrow- Pillars of Creation
Sounds better with the Invaders than the EMG's he supposedly used.
Does it fit on a jackson king v js32t? Because I heard this pickups are too thick
Is that Keith Merrow?
Coño ! Fucking good !!
Meith kerrow
how this pickup would sound on poplar wood ?
I’ve got a Seymour Duncan Balckout Metal pickup and the Invader sounds a lot like it...or the other way around. Is that kind of how it is? Or am I just hearing things?
It sounded pretty good on the low end;but perhaps not fully distorted towards mind blowing levels though. But i think it showed by this demo it has something more to give in that are of sound when pushed. is it for six stringed guitars as well? Thanks for the demo.
that IS a six string :P
EthanReres- WafflesFrom-Hell Thanks man. I was just wondering because there was alot of talk on here about those pick-ups being for more than 6 stringed guitars.
Jesse Reyna no problem. It's probably because of the invader's prominent low end even for a passive, that the huge metal guys with 7 and 8 and 9 string guitars use these a lot. And i don't blame them haha. But yeah, the invader started out as 6 string model, i think its the sh-8 model?
EthanReres- WafflesFrom-Hell It sounds pretty good on your set up;but i'm thinking it could sound a lot better by tweaking the amp set-up more. But i understood why you kept everything the same;it was a good explanation to me. Thanks for the demo. Your guitar;what model is that? I'm kind of looking for a future axe with a six stringed simplified set-up like that one appears to be. I just want a nice looking tune up and play guitar. Mine is a pain with it's "Floyd Rose Special trem system. Thanks man.
Why does everyone hate, i tried one in a syn gates model and thought it worked well with the sustainiac, quite abit louder and heavier than blackouts, im wondering is it just very sensitive to height and wood combos? Maybe it only like floyd rose equipped guitars that sound thin?! Im also looking at black winter pups, anyone have any experience with both the black winters and invaders?
I have an invader on my blacktop strat and its absolutely amazing pup very loud very heavy sound and handles a lot of gain very well ! I have heard that black winters have an annoying twang to them so go for the invader
Anyone have a tab for this? I need it NOA. Thanks :)
How would the Invader and a dimebucker in the neck on an Alder Body Bolt on neck work out? Insane combination or monstrous fail?
Hmm, they are vastly different. It really depends on what you are going for, though. There is a huge EQ difference. The bridge Invader is all mids and output. The Dimebucker is more highs. So you get a big EQ change there.
Seymour Duncan I never tend to run both pickups at the same time and either have it isolated to bridge or neck on selector. I just need a set that's different and breaks the mold. Would the pickups run in the same pots? And in theory what would be the pros and cons to it?
You could run these to the same pots if you want (master volume and tone). The only con would be that you lose individual control. It is up to you if you need that or not (I like master tone and volume, but others don't). With such vastly different pickups, you might need that control, but only you can make that decision.
what's a good neck pickup to use in conjunction with an invader in bridge?looking for versatility over gain/power/etc.
Honestly, the Invader neck.
song name please!, is amazing
What size string you using on this guitar thanks
whats the tunning?
What amp/ampsim was used in this recording
How are the invaders for playing classic rock/blues rock? Don't play a lot of it but I do play some.
Bobby Coltrane more for metal thrash death metal too not good for cleans
U can probably do some kimd of cleans but its design for power
On the Seymour Duncan website, when you list neck humbuckers by output range, the Invader appears between Jazz and Alnico II Pro. Is that accurate?
Yeah, although it might seems louder due to the mids. It isn't nearly the output of a bridge Invader.
Does it sounds good to combine invader on the bridge and '59 on the neck?
Yes, although the Invader will be much louder, which isn't always a bad thing...it will be much louder than most neck pickups. Also, the EQ of the 59 and the Invader are like polar opposites...but this isn't bad. Many people like that in a neck/bridge combo.
What is the tune that he's playing?
