There doesn't seem to be a way to write blank data to the fan. If you wish to disable the light of the fan completely, then you will have to get some plasticine or some other hard / malleable material and push a small amount of it in one of the springs giving the secondary board power. You can pull away the fan's front, just when putting it back on don't push it too hard, make sure a small gap stays as to not damage the motor.
This method only works with the same model as shown in the video. I can't say this will work on different models.
