Thank you so much. Ive had a hard time convincing my wife that weight training wont harm our 11 year old son.
Alvin is back to Austin now with the voice being back to normal. Damn it. Great podcast guys
Keep em comin! Love your podcasts.
Great podcast as always, keep it coming guys! The content is fantastic.
good stuff, thanks
I need to knock up a Tinder date so I can test this stuff out!
Didn't quite catch it at the beggining but very well put after min 40
I recently challenged my 10 year old son to do 10 pull ups a days for the month of January. Granted they are assisted he is doing awesome and as not missed a day. Curious if he will be able to do a single pull up by himself at the end. Very proud dad. I also feel its a great way to teach your kids to set a goal and see it to the end and achieve a goal. Might do light dead lift next month.
Love the rip air quotes by Dr. Baraki lol 😂
Fuck... every time someone says QED I thinking about "Quantum electro-dynamics"...
Product placement is improving, now if you can get it a little closer.
whats up
i was looking for an answer to my question in the starting strength forum and there where some kind of answers but i would be thankfull for your opinion on this topic...
i m 17 an i have condropathia (condromazia) patellae...it doesn t hurt at all but you can hear it cracking pretty loud if i go upstairs or squat and i wouldnt worry about it but the problem is that the cracking gets louder and louder from workout to workout and now i m wondering if i should stopp making squats because it gets worse and worse and maybe it will hurt in future
At around the 10 minute mark Dr Feigenbaum talks about kids in puberty having hormonal advantage and that it can be better than anabolic steroids. Does this mean we can handle higher volume training? I mean I listen to guys on youtube saying oh well pro bodybuilders train like that because theyre on steroids, well since i have a similar hormonal profile wouldn’t that mean i can test my limits as far as volume and frequency? I can do something silly like train arms for an hour straight, and the day after It feels like i can do it again. I dont know if i should still stick to the minimalistic approach of 3x5 on barbell movements when i can do high volume stuff nearly everyday and not feel sore.
Looks like I and Jordan have something in common with "getting blocked"
I wonder why specialization early on inhibits development in children. Is it really just them getting bored/disinterested?

Hi, nice cast.
Maybe one point to add.
Not specific to weight training.
But according to my perception during school: The kids who did very extensive sports, tended to be smaller.
My explanation was, that their bodies had to spend more resources in the activities and the recovery and therefore had less left for growth (in height)...
BoeserWolf1977 I know of no literature supoorting that case. I would conjecture that anerobic and aerobic Sports drive different adaptations which require different amount of resources.
Weight Training in Tanner Stage 2 or 3 is fine without significant effects on growth.
Injuries can have an impact but that is out of question.
Generally I would say children should be active until 14 in terms of following a hobby or sport. Then incorporate BW exercises and mobility training. At 16 when most comercial gyms allow you to come and train I would start the novice phase with and go on from there.
that's not how it works. Weight training stimulates HGH. If you are growing and doing some sort of sport at the same time, you will just eat more than you normally would just growing, because the HGH levels will increase even more.
@@schizo33 the reduction to just hgh seems a bit over simplistic.
There is for sure a bunch of rivalry effects, to be considered...
Yeee boiiiiii
Jordan, any chance you can make your mic louder for the next one? The podcast at full volume is too quiet in my gym (loud background music) :( Austin's volume is fine!
Dr. Baraki: Going Swolo
5/3/1 Is a great program. I think it's unfair to mock it. I've ran it several times after other programs and had great results. Is it the best...no,. But it is a good prigram.
Max Mellow can you elaborate? Im pretty new to all this strength training methods and i tried reading about it but theres a bunch of percentages. I know coach rippetoe talk about the Texas method after you finish the novice program. Do you mean slow as in takes a lot of time to to get stronger?
531 is a great guide for experienced gym rats but Jim's original plan just didn't give enough guidance.
41:11 shit is starting to get complex LMFAO
Why does it look like Dr. Baraki is on the shitter?
A. Harrington that's a fallacy--Dr. Baraki never shits. Get your shit together, man.
Michael Karayan gotta increase that intra-abdominal pressure somehow.
Ab training
Best cause for growth stunting is "lifting causes you to grow muscle which will pull on the bones and stop them from growing"
