I agree. And clearly they were genuinely good friends. I believe Lewis was perpetually beleaguered by his detractors and to some extent, his fans. The King of Comedy said it all, really. Check out O'Connor Driscoll's interview with him for Playboy. It gives you some idea of the constant pressures he was under to keep his career going and balance this with his family. At the time of this film his whole life was imploding and for some reason he never gets any sympathy. He wasn't a bad person. Just a creative and perfectionist under great pressure.

"Hardly Working" was a VERY bad film, but its great seeing Jerry behind the scenes. He should've gotten good writers with new ideas and another director. It might've been a winner had he not decide to do it all..again.
