I don't like the idea of them expanding on it for more than 3 movies. Chapters 1 and 2 were phenomenal and I'm looking forward to a solid ending in the 3rd film. Best to finish strong and leave behind a legacy than to run the franchise into the ground.

This feels like the first time I'm watching Keanu with a friend by his side. And the guy is 100% what I would expect from a friend of his.
I think Keanu Reeves is a simple man with humble expectations in real life. His character in John Wick replicates his real life in so many ways. He may not have all the answers to life, but knows what makes him happy. If people will just let him be. Again what an amazing talent and human being! He looks very happy.

john wick 2 is very, very impressive. i can't stop marveling at how good all the fights are, at how beautiful it all looks, it's an ode to human possibilities, in a dark, murdery way hehe. even for someone like me, who has never been into either martial arts or action genre, this is an accomplishment of a movie. hands down

It may get nominated for Best Sound or Special effects, but certainly not best picture or anything. Action films aren't dramatic enough for the Academy.
The day a movie like this wins an Oscar for picture, performance or direction will probably be the same day Dredd 2 is greenlit.

It’s funny that you would mention the drama aspect, because I feel like the heart and emotion and depth of the Wick films is something that really goes under-appreciated, and that would just be a continuation of it on the part of the Academy!
I haven’t even completed Chapter 2 yet (I had been stuck just catching what I could of both films via television, but have now purchased them and have already watched the first film thrice), but the scene with Gianna was absolutely amazing. I do have one peeve about it, but overall, it was incredible. It was haunting, tragic, depressing, disturbing, painful, and heartbreaking, yet also has a strange and unnerving beauty to it, and this quiet dignity and elegant and peacefulness about it. And also this beautiful element of empathy and compassion and affection that made it all the more tragic. It was difficult to watch both emotionally and viscerally, yet I was also immediately wowed and loved the scene for what it accomplished, and I know I’m gonna have to watch it again!
You could really understand the pain on both sides of it, and they masterfully handled a very, very difficult storytelling set-up: We needed to be able to be able to sympathize with BOTH characters here, and that was not an easy thing to pull off.
(They were also able to accomplish a similar dynamic when it came to Common’s character, as well!)
And that’s always been an element of the John Wick films: they have to take an elite assassin and yet make him vulnerable, human, likable, and sympathetic, and get you to side with and understand him even through all the bloodshed and his terrifying effectiveness at it as well as pragmatism at carrying it out.
And the scene with Gianna reminds me of that particular section of the Red Circle sequence where they’re playing Kaleida’s song, “Think.” It has that same quality of being haunting and chilling and violent, yet also strangely and unexpectedly beautiful and elegant, and it’s an unsettling and mesmerizing mix, because you have all these different conflicting feelings melded together.
The two scenes are done in different ways, yet they both share that key connection, and they’re each _brilliant._ As are the overall films, judging from what I’ve seen of them thus far.
And another great moment was that big conversation with Viggo, where John, who’s shown subtle but increasing flashes of anger as the movie progresses, finally exposes that very raw and deep pain, grief, and rage, amongst other emotions, that have been under that quiet exterior. It’s also a scene where they bring in this sense of tragic inescapability that’s a key part of both the first and second films-how he’s tried to leave this life behind yet it keeps finding him and pulling him further and further back in.
If you want drama, you got it! And that’s beside things like the world building, verbal and nonverbal storytelling, insanely gorgeous action choreography, and touches of realism in the John Wick world!
And I really enjoyed the heart and emotion and character interaction in other action films-like The Equalizer-as well! Indeed, those are the elements that help us really connect with the characters, especially the main character, and make us care about what happens to them. It’s not necessarily an either-or situation, and on the one hand it bothers me when stuff doesn’t get the critical recognition it ought to, but then I remind myself that both critical and audience recognition are always a mixed bag, and sometimes things will be more successful or recognized than they deserve, sometimes they’ll get less recognition than they deserve, and sometimes stuff will get its due ranking. Oh well.
One thing I can be very satisfied by is the fact that audiences have loved the series and that when I watch videos here and read the comments about different scenes, there are always these fantastic details that people will point out about the film and different aspects of it, from the choreography to details about the soundtrack, and I just continue to learn about and love the _John Wick_ world all the more.
Like the way he controlled the noise from his reloading in the home-invasion scene in order to lure and trick an assailant, or that subtle sound effect in the “Story of Wick” track of an explosive being lit.
Or how John subtly and expertly controlled the force/use of his weight and leverage in one of his throws in order to delay the timing a touch so that he could use the guy he was tackling to shield himself from the gunfire of a second assailant, _while_ getting in shots at that second assailant! Thus taking a moment where he was at a disadvantage-enemies approaching on both sides of an open obstacle-and turning both the assailant number and the exposure to gunfire into actual advantages.
My God, there’s just so much love and passion and intelligence that went into making all of this. So many different aspects, and all the crew members who made it happen. Not the least of which are the actors themselves, particularly Keanu who has an absolutely insane work ethic. Some of the coolest choreography of the film was actually done while he had the flu and was running a high-grade fever! And that fight with Michael Nyqvist-may he rest in piece-took place in temps that were a couple of degrees above freezing, and the filmmakers were genuinely worried about having them out there soaking wet in temps like that, and noted in the disc commentary that most _stuntmen_ wouldn’t have been able to handle those conditions that Reeves and Nyqvist were working under! (And I believe they said it was three days that were spent on filming that part. Whew!)
And then there was stuff about the scenes Keanu and Willem did together, having to lip-read their way through scenes because of how loud the environmental noise was...
Seriously, these films deserve every bit of recognition they’ve gotten and then some! The more I learn, the greater my respect for what went into it all.

Two very accomplished individuals in their own fields and yet, two very humble human beings.
Keanu at 52 looks better than half his age! Also, I just saw John Wick 2 yesterday and it was crazy AWESOME!!!!!! The "pencil" scene was brought to life in this one. Hell of an action scene and great action movie. Also, I love how there's no bullshit "shaky cam" crap and fast editing cuts (like Chad brought out). This is old school. One can actually see the action scenes (much due to Keanu's 150% dedication to the training for this movie). All deserving for someone that appears to be a very 'down to earth' humble guy! Keanu, you're "the man"!!! Bring on John Wick 3!!!!!!!!!

There are so many movies coming out in 2017, and John Wick 2 is at the top of my list of action films I'm really excited to see. I really wish more actors were as inspiring and excited about action films like he shows for this character and this film series. I would love to see them explore the world of the Continental more, and if the opportunity presents itself to try out for the John Wick TV series, I'd love to throw my hat in the ring, especially since I have been training at the UFC for three years. I love action movies and I hate jump cuts and tight shots in action films. Finally there's a movie that shows a real love and respect for the action genre

This style of Film making is outstanding and beyond my expectations. In the past I have watched many movies over and over, but there is something unexplainably different about how John Wick captures my attention and transports me back into this world of his. Over the 46 yrs of my life I have grown up watching Keanu's movies, without a doubt Point Break was my favorite.
What he brings to the screen today rejuvenates and motivates men like myself to stick with their goals drive their ambitions beyond the point of just physical Age. Keanu as a person is inspiring and his down to earth style is so relatable.

Keanu Reeves is the nicest, most sincere, & awesome dude in Hollywood. He never demonizes a single fan, ever, over their political beliefs/opinions. He also donates to good amount of legit charities. He never gets pissed at fans for wanting pictures or autographs either.
I love Keanu so much it hurts! I think he’s put a spell on all of us.

This was very insightful, everything surrounding this movie is just nice and fresh, even the interviews give real information with no real bs questions. Man what a wonderful little renascence.
I remember when Liam Neeson starred in “Taken”, it was a good film with a decent plot, the action was tight and it gave Neeson a new lane as an (geri) action star. Reeves has always been great in action roles and in John Wick he shines; he tries to do as much of his own fighting scenes and stunts where possible. I’m glad JW2 and JW3 haven’t gone down to road of diminishing returns as we saw with the Taken franchise. The JW universe is layered, unique, full of darkness and gritty action and each film I think delivers just that little bit more and we learn more about the world around John Wick. Looking forward to JW4!
