This song, and every Sia song is best performed at the KRCW sessions. Thats where she really takes all her songs to the next deviation standard. This is like a mild soft practice to that.

Sia's unique vocal style was analyzed in a university music study as part of paralanguage - singing as you speak, expressing real emotions. That's why, when she says "I can't feel my lips" in her song Don't Bring Me Down, you really can say her lips are numbed. Conventional pop singers rarely use paralanguage, that's why their technically "perfect" vocals can be emotionless. Thanks for reacting to her, I hope you'll react more!

she has much spectacular live performances of this song, check out the one from KCRW 2007! Idk why everyone rects to this soft version

She has good control, however singing is telling a story. I don't know what she was singing about as the words were difficult to know what it was about.

I actually understood everything😂. I personally think the slurring/mumbling of the words is part of the story. She wrote this song on the night she attempted to end her life. The song is about depression and the struggles of feeling alone, worthless and affraid. Her sad mumbling of the words make you feel these emotions in my experience.
