For the S-10, you can put a floppy emulator in it now and if the drive doesn't work you can still sample with it. You still can't beat that 12 bit and analog filtered sound. It's not useless like some old samplers.
Also Director S was $299.99 and it's still going for that amount today. However it's very rear.

      Hi @Tony Jackson
Of course you are right you could put an emulator into the Roland S-10 keyboard. And to be honest I never though about doing that.
But then the S-50 for me is the example to own. As you put it is the 12-bit sampling, circuitry and filtering is what makes this keyboard the sampler that it is and for a child of the eighties, well.
Good to know the price of Director-S though thank you. I acquired my copy with the keyboard, but it took me a while to work out what the strange dongle was that I had acquired. Jon

Didn’t the W-30 have a backlit display, and doesn’t that make it not a TFT?

      Hi @xp50player
I think I said LED in the video and you are absolutely right it is a TFT display. Jon

Hi. So will a bad relay cause distortion and low volume when you press the keys? That’s what mine is doing. Trying to decide if it’s worth fixing or should I just sell it.

      Hi @perymaysin
It is a known and recorded problem with this sampler. If you're doing it yourself then it is a worthwhile exercise, if you have to pay someone then I guess you have to weigh up whether you want to keep the sampler.
This is of course one of a few things that could be causing distortion so it might not be the ultimate magic bullet. Jon
