Rob Ski would have been perfect for this video
Rob would be like “ak is fine the way it it! Don’t molest it!”
Are you guys triplets or cousins? It's like an Episode of Ed, Edd And Eddy with guns
😄👌
That’s hilarious
Lol
That Saturday Night Live skit "The Bears"
Everyone is chubby, cop mustaches, big tinted aviator glasses, trucker hats, talking about "The Bears"
Gun guys, vets and D&D players seem to look the same these days
Purist here.
That being said, you wanna mod a Wasr, zastava (modern/postban), PSA etc, go ahead.
You modify a Steyr Maadi, Polytech Legend, 56s etc.....you get the death penalty.
Those preban polytechs and maadi rifles are some of the only available AKs in states like Massachusetts….we gotta do what we gotta do lol
At the end of the video, Brandon should kick down the door yelling, "Nyet! Rifle is fine!" And then the video footage just cuts off
THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO FUNNY!
Just buy 2.
One, keep stock.
Other, sporterize.
Yes
Or 10.
I did that with 6 Saigas in 2014 when Obama banned the import. All unconverted except 1 (the 5.45). Man, that cost a lot to convert 4 of those, and one unconverted I sold for a meager $200 profit a couple years later. I had something done differently to each one that was modded. Different gunsmiths too. All received threaded barrels (costly, about $80 each). I wasn't interested in high-end ARs as I didn't want the upkeep after shooting though I'll clean them every 3-4 outings of 5-6 hours at the range. I have one still left unshot in perfect condition. My fav, of course, is the 5.45 and I should have bought the other 2 identical at the time for $550 converted. I was concerned at the time about ammo/mag availability of the 74 in the US. Was so wrong on that concern.
Blasphemy!!!!!! Leave it alone!!!!!!
"Nyet! Rifle is fine."
Stevarooni beat me to it.
I still have the meme from facecrook
Dammit
It is what Kalashnikov would have wanted. Apparently he scoffs at the idea of changing the AK and thought the ak 74 was a step too far. It was designed for a peasant conscript army. It was simple and rugged
Kalashnikov was a soldier. He wanted a weapon to defend, not to be used in offense. Alot of gun owners use our weapons for defense. I think he would approve
Beards, hats 'n glasses
Maybe they should form a band and call themselves: The Yeeters
Name my band?
@@z50com or: "3 guys sporterized"
🤣 but where is chad and his 6.5mm hair?
Slinging brass and smackin' asses
Glad to know about an AK
Brandon Herrera
"Sexy long haired motherlovers."
Here comes all the Brandon Herrera people
“Gondor calls for aid!”
Just embrace both. Have one as a collectors piece and one with a modernized setup.
Or just willingly fall down the rabbit hole of akm collecting. Which no one complains about lol.
Until you get to the point where you want a Valmet
@@aggrodkreg4321 and I took that personally
A WASR-10 is great as it is. The laminated wood stock is far tougher than any polymer stock, while a tough but compact wire folding stock is great if you want to be able to discreetly transport your AK. The hi-viz sights from XS Sight Systems are great if you want to upgrade your irons, though the primary sight should be an RDS like an Aimpoint H1 or Trijicon Mini ACOG 3x24 scope via a side mount from RS Regulate, which also makes an accessory mount for a white light.
Midwest Industries makes a nice low profile optics mount for ak's as well.
Hes tried it. RS makes one far better
Throw a red dot and flashlight on it for home defense. Red dot really improves the accuracy and is visible at night.
I might not be a very fashionable person but... what a shirt Eric, what a shirt!
It's his pineapple .Hulu. Boogaloo
Like all things: if it's nice, leave it; if its used up a bit, mod away.
I like to consider the history and view things objectively.
Great video guys brings back memories of my youth when I had to Choate my first SKS up.
Nice AK review. I have 2 blacked out Vepr's in 39 & 54r. Still have the Russian walnut furniture in the factory boxes. Others don't like the tactical set up, but I built them for my sons & myself not others. Love your channel, keep up the great work.
I bought my first AK about 2 months ago and I'm kind of in the middle. I put an RS regulate mount on it with an LPVO, but as far as aesthetics are concerned, I'm keeping it with wood furniture and not decking it out with quad rails and whatnot. I did swap out the furniture for better quality USSR wood furniture, but in the end I want it to look like an AK.
Although I am contemplating SBR'ing it, and if so I'm putting a triangle folding stock on it just because.
My son has a WASR 10. Fantastic running machine that shoots great. I got him all olive green furniture for it one Christmas. It looks like a video game gun now. 😁
I just got an Arsenal SLR107R....I love it the only additions I made were a 74 style brake and a regulate side mount with a cyclops
Since you had a x54r in there, I’m going to do something similar with my 91/30. I have an M44 that I love and would never modify beyond a modern sling. But I’d like to turn my 91/30 into a practical hunting rifle. Chop the barrel down to 20”, thread the muzzle and put a Scout Scope on it. With a sporterized or modern stock you can get the weight down to something comparable to a Ruger Gunsite Scout. No reason some of the more reasonably priced warhorses can’t keep on trucking in the modern world with some slight modification.
If it's yours and you want to... Go for it.
The best customization you can do is keeping it fed with 7.62....that's all it needs
Truer words...
Have a great one y’all from Texas ^^
Thank you sir. You as well. 🤜🤛
See in grammar class next year

I think the real discussion here should be "Is a beard a replacement for a jaw or not?" 😉
Depends on weather or not it’s white or whole wheat.
@@silencerbear9347 thanks, white for sure. Lol
My beard uaed to hide my double chin lol lost the weight kept the long goat
My beard constantly gets caught in my ar, so i switched to an AK
Chad must have been getting his hair did.
It helps the BC on his creedmoor.
He's being patriotic and defying the stay at home order!
He ran down to Covid Cuts to get his hair done 🤣
He is changing up the CLOWNMART PERM
Covid cuts? I thought that was code for going on amazon and getting some clippers mailed to you so you could get a recruit training haircut?
Yes. I love my wasr 10. I added magpul furniture and want to get a adjustable gas piston for it. Like you said certain guns you dont want to touch or "Bubba". The wasr, psa, and Arsenals are begging to be tinkered with.
Love the topic!!
This video hit the nail on the head. You wouldn't destroy a collectible, but you would destroy an already bastardized kit.
I don't always play EFT, but when I do, I run a stock AK-74N with a rubber butt pad
That 5.45 Saiga is sick! Did you guys ever do a video on it?
Zach cash umm ok... do some research.
@Zach cash If you have done research, then how did you come to the conclusion of it being worse? Aside from manufacturers of it, it is a fantastic round.
@Zach cash It is a slightly smaller projectile, so yes, that can make it seem "less powerful", but the velocity is on par with the 5.56. Maybe you should actually look up ballistics tests, and perhaps even shoot something in 5.45 before claiming you have done research... Wikipedia is not the best source bud.
Yes, I've modified my WASR-10 to my fit and taste.
Me too. All my aks are customized to give purists, fudds and anti gunners a stroke.
@@matthewalexander9930 They're functional too, don't let the fudds tell you otherwise.
@@BoogalooBoy functional, durable, lighter and sexy as hell.
@@matthewalexander9930 Stock com-bloc style AKs never really got me, I'm middle of the road, not too tactical, not full-on purist.
@@BoogalooBoy stock is ok but in 2020, why not make it what you want? People do it with everything else. Its what's on the inside that really sets mine apart. Kns adjustable gas piston and cmc trigger. The ict magwell, Krebs movie safety, and ram speed catch are my other top upgrades. The rest is fuctional but cosmetic. To each their own.
Eric that shorty PSL looks great!
As I just got done watching Brandon’s videos, this is next on my playlist LOL
I like the Finnish ak sights on the top cover, that's what I'd change, have a rail on the top cover and rearward all the way, a peep sight on the top cover
Pretty easy. But 1 with the classic walnut furniture and leave it alone. Buy another with polymer furniture and put whatever attachments on it for any tactical needs.
Only customization I've done is some Boyds forest green furniture on my SAR3
Please do sight that PSL and show us some more! Very nice.
I'm a fan of the 'keep one pure and trick out another'. I'm about to buy another AK myself that's an underfolder and probably only changing out the rear sight for the peep sight one. AK stock sights are fine but peep sights are OP
Optics and a kns piston. If your ak doesn’t have a side rail, Sabrewerks makes the best mounting option. I can’t wait to get a kns piston in my vepr54.
Enjoyed the video, gentlemen, tyfys. AK master race 🙌.
🌺
Asian here, i've seen polytech AKs with modular attachments like optics, threaded barrel with brake, laser and flashlights, in the U.S polytech AKs are rare but here its common, its everywhere, so its not collectable 'cause it aint rare BUT AKs from the U.S are rare in here. Im part purist btw
Somewhere in North Carolina, Brandon Herrera is raging...Gun is fine!
Nice Boogaloo shirt Eric..
Too each his own, I wouldn’t touch it personally but! I do have a side rail Incase I do want to throw a optic on top
I am slowly falling in love with the rough beauty of the Kalash
Hmm... an optic and vertical foregrip, certainly. A tac light if it's for home defense. Railed upper handguard if the optic turns out to be a scout scope.
You guys look like three different evolutions of a Pokémon. Pistolsaur, pitasaur, and pistoffasaur.
I’m fine with either but I do get frustrated when people talk about sight radius lay your m4 and ak down sight to sight and the Ak has a longer sight radius lol.
you have one go for it you have 2 leave one alone. unless it a really rare/collectible. There is also the option of mods that can be reverted back to original
Should i customize a 100% DDR AKi?
With telescopic stock, handguard rail and optic?
My AK started off as a Saiga 7.62. I did all the mods myself. I couldn’t afford a decent AK at the time. It’s a great rifle.
Perfect timing, not an AK virgin, but I just picked up an slr95 for my girl. Definitely making a handful of tasteful mods before I give it to her. The action is slicker than snot so I'm pretty much just going to give it the blond Furniture treatment, maybe a pinch of engraving in said furniture and call it a day.
That Texas weapon systems top cover sure is alluring though. LOL
It’s your gun, do what you want with it. I painted pineapples on my mine!
Look into jmac they have very cool ways for mountings suppressors to aks
My opnion is.. if you own a gun, a car, a tool.. you can customise it to what suits your needs, i have a norinco 84s ak in 5.56.. i put magpul handguards on it and i drilled the receiver and installed a side rail with midwest industries mount, ar buffer tube adapter and a minimalist stock.. of course an 84s is collectible in the United States but here it is not.
I looked into buying one, but the standard stocks were always too short for me. That was the deal breaker. The sights and magazine release don't bother me.
And yes, I know that aftermarket stocks are available, but I like to keep old guns as close to original as possible.
I say u can do anything to ur ak as long as you keep the wood handgaurd but just don’t mix wood and plastic it bothers me but the magpul stocks in plum are very nice
Brandon Herrera literally just uploaded a new video I watch this.
I want to see his response to this video.
Question I bought a sig saur sp2022 9MM and want to know if I can shoot hollowpoint ammo in it?
Eric I love the boog shirt!
Depends on the purpose and how its done. What do you need out of the gun, user or collectable? After that make sure you only do what you need to and do it with thought. Don't mall ninja, tacti-cool, Bubba the gun up. Make it streamlined and functional.
Depends on usage, my has some upgrades but nothing crazy
Your gun, your choice. I like them stock... Same with the SKS, but my reason is purely because I like the wood furniture, especially when it's in great shape. That said, I have been tempted to replace ugly wood, but never have. I think whatever floats your boat is fine.
If your chosen weapon is not a perfect fit for you , you are doing yourself a disservice, you want a Purist Safe baby or a MilSurp classic, (I'd never make it "modern") go for it, you want a combat rifle, you make it perfection for you.
Makes more sense than dragging an SKS through a Tapco catalog at least.
First cool vs second cool.
For me it really depends on it's purpose. If it's slated for any kind of serious or defensive use, I say modernize it. WML is mandatory IMO, and a red dot can be very helpful. If it's just for fun, there ain't much cooler than a bog-standard AK with wood furniture and iron sights.
Been shooting a egyptian maddi for over 20 years, and the only thing I've added are a folding stock, the original stock was a finger hole stock from the clinton ban years, and russian forearm because I like they way russian furniture looks. As for the sights, I shoot a 2in group at 200 meters, I wear trifocals now, so don't need a scope or reddot.
Trick that pony out like LEGO’s for grown men! Now for the video :)
I am looking at the iwi galil Ace as a 1st rifle. Don’t see customization bc I wouldn’t know where to start.
Bud T - thanks. I appreciate the advise
I do both, the plus side of the modernized AK's is Americans have improved some things on a ak like krebs safety. One of the best innovations on AKs in the past 20 years. But keeping it O.G. is awesome for the collectors life.
I built an amd 65 from a classic firearms kit. Other than it coming pre headspaced, I built it from the ground up so I made it the ak I knew would work for me. I dropped the sheet metal hand guard, added a Magpul. I put a us Palm grip on it for ergonomics. It's not an original import so I guess no body could really say much about not keeping it the way it was intended? Most ak "upgrades" could be swapped back to original pretty simply, unless you have to drill out rivets and change trunnions. I wouldn't buy anything that I'd feel like I couldn't modify to my liking. I know that's just me. Love the topic.
The only reason why people say the ergonomics of the ak sucks are people who never handled one and are so in love with their ar they can't fathom that there are different ways to operate a gun.
The Texas Weapons Systems dogleg improves the rugged nature of the dust cover and you get a pic rail.
Nice Spiker. I have one as well. Inherited it from my father in law. Found it under the bed with a 1000 round case of ammo with 3 rounds missing. Polytech was still new in the box and found 3 spent casings in the box. Father in law bought it in 89 and got a 1000 round crate of ammo, shot it 3 times and put it under the bed. I looked at my wife, like "Want to go to the range?" We took it out and shot the 997 rounds of ammo.
What do you need sightsfor if you do it 'Rambo' style 'From the Hip'
Some mods are smart. The KNS makes the AK so much more smoother.
Wood furniture AK has long been a want but most likely never be able to get one.
That is a terrible pineapple grenade shirt,
I love it
Could you include how much these cost as well.
Have a 2 ak . My classic mild ak 47 i only changed the dust cover put TWS dog leg gen 3 and I’m using there rear sight .the second one is molot vepr ak47-11 I challenged the handguard put m lok and changed the stock put triangle fixed stock . I’m planing to put side rail whit red dot or 2x or 3x primary arms scope plus flash light on hand guard . I’m not satisfied with only 2 aks I what to buy more
I'm not necessarily a "purist" unless it comes down to a rare firearm that really shouldn't be molested. But when it concerns a properly functioning firearm that is doing it's job well and as intended, I see no need for wild modifications outside of maybe sighting systems to help when you get my age and iron sights just don't work for you anymore
Eric is ready for the boogaloo
From what I understood reading a lot on forums (also getting to know the 3-4 types of gun guys) and watching a few hours of interviews with Jim Fuller (yeah there's people that knows more, and he's never claimed otherwise, but IMO they're not as much "out there" and relevant to status quo as he is) you wanna leave the receivers on these things darn near alone, they're like the rotary engine of the car world and what that means is the AK receivers were stamped, riveted and welded in such and that and this "a'way" for a reason and the SECOND you start thinking you're smarter than the ones that designed and built it and try to AR15'izing it, impacting the factory steel's flexibility and stretch/give abilities, it's gonna start giving you trouble.
From there it's back and forth between gun shops to fix things that ak owners claim the gunsmith did wrong but the ak owner goes "he/she/it/they/them had one thing he/she/it/they/them had to do and I told he/she/it/they/them what to do and he/she/it/they/them didnt do it", ar15 and ak forums are FULL of those, they always go "I never thought this or that could do the job right but I didn't have the time so I thought what the heck", people that literally LIKE drama and SEEK it on purpose.
So long as you understand that the receiver = holy ground, and go from there, there's apparently a couple of things you can do to the gun to make it a tad more comfortable and effective.
I think the part about the gun being made last week or one that is more collectible is the determining factor. I’m not a purist, but agree with that notion and wouldn’t mess with a poly or something else you can’t just run out and grab.
Saw my Saiga confirmed as an AK, was made in 7.62 Nato with hunting furniture. I guess that means I can mod it, still stuck with those 8 rd mags though.
AK is okay, shirt.... smashing!!!!
I like that psl always wanted one I think I would still rather have the full length . But if I had 2 of em like he does I would definitely modify one of em
Anyone know why "pistol" braces have the fabric strap on the back?
The Hanson brothers of guns!!
It's America, do what you want! The question is, did you make it better?
Absolutely, throw the zentico catalogue at it.
Okay but the standard tiny grips for me feel like I am holding onto an elderly woman's hand
The magpul pistol grip actually fills my man hands, and allows me to manipulate the rifle from the grip far easier.
There is room in my heart for stock AK's, but I wouldn't buy a WASR and try to preserve it for history either lol
Customizing collector quality stuff like the polytech an the milsurps would be like taking a number matching engine out of a 63 split window and putting a LS in it... That's something that will get u slapped lol
Customizing. Thumbs up.
The only thing I require on every rifle is provisions for optics. On an ak give me an ultimak or an RS regulate mount, and that’s about the only thing I need other than wood furniture.
I need one for the PTA meeting.
Great thing I have both types.
Hawaiian shirts have been sold out for awhile. When can we expect more?
Welcome back everybody, this is another gun gripes episode with Iraqveteran8888, Iraqveteran8889, and Iraqveteran8890...
Only time I’d tell someone they shouldn’t be messing with an AK is if it has legit collectors value and it’s value is going to drop if they make an irreversible modification to it. If it’s a WASR, PSAK, Z-PAP, go to town on it. If it’s one of the Norinco’s or Valmet in original shape, I’d be warning them to go find another AK to start modding just because it’s a collectors piece at this point.
Great video
