    Great review!
    Had I seen this before ordering my Nikomat EL I would have reconsidered.
    But I got the 50mm 1.4 Nikkor bundled so I'm happy with that.

      Thank you. Do you own a EL2?

      I just bought one off EBay so I've been watching all the videos to familiarize myself. I've got several Nikkormats, FTn, 2,3 and F2. I really like the look of the EL2 (in black) but mostly for the aperture priority.

    To avoid doing damage to your camera with a pencil probe. to retrieve the battery, press the "gate" to the right and push back on it (it is spring loaded) and the battery will pop up. I just turn the camers toward the lens and the battery will fall out in your hand. Try it...save the works.

    Very nice body with a relative success due to the arrival of the mythic FE …

    The aperture stick when u look through the lense to match it with the shutter speed on my camera is stuck dangling on the bottom jigging up and down do u know what the reason for that is

    Hi Jules, Thanks for video. I don't understand why Nikon placed battery in a area that could be damaged easily if you have an "oops" moment.

      Nikon just change this one year after with the FE … so they also realize it was an error (it s the same for the EL…)

      I guess that this, the first, version of the electronic shutter, needed a fairly large Lithium battery due to relatively inefficient circuitry. Nikon probably wanted to keep the same body outline as the other Nikkormats. The only space available, without adding to the bulk of the body, was under the mirror. Note that the EL and EL2 use the same everready case as the other Nikkormats. Changing the battery is straightforward if one is careful. It requires no tools since the battery is automatically ejected when the trap door is fully opened. It's a pretty decent design actually

    Do you have the Nikon part number for the eyepiece? I purchased my EL2 used, and it has no eyepiece at all.

      I don’t have the part number but just search on the B&H or Adorama web site for Nikon FM eyepiece. I just checked, it’s now 27.00.

    can you take double/multiple exposure with it?

    • @julesvuottosphotofocus4696
      @julesvuottosphotofocus4696  Před 2 lety

      No recommended way. You can try holding in the rewind button as you use the advance lever but it the film may move and the 2nd exposure will not be aligned with the first. This method will work with the F2.

      @@julesvuottosphotofocus4696 thanks! I just found a shot of multiple exposure and it was specified as made with EL2, but I guess it might be a mistake

    • @philmtx3fr
      @philmtx3fr Před 2 lety

      @@quite1enough thé FE which is more or less an EL2 in a smaller -and I would say more elegant -body got a specific lever for it. The op Jules describes work, you just need to really tense the film and use the rewind button to free the advance of the film.

    • @totenvt
      @totenvt Před rokem +1

      Wind the rewind knob until you feel it go tight, press the rewind button on the bottom of the camera and take the shot. the exact frame line up is a little hit and miss but its achieveable if you do home developing to compensate for this. Id also suggest with home darkroom negative stacking ie one neg on the other or partial leftand right exposures to get composite images
