2:15 WHOA WHOA WHOA. I've been on board with a lot of your hot takes since the SYWH days, but I think I gotta draw the line at Quicksand disrespect. I love Boxcar Racer, but it's definitely not Quicksand or "better" imo

Blink-182 is the expectation to the statement of : most bands doing side projects aren’t great.
Due to the fact that: I love box car and transplants but have never been able to get into blink ( outside of a handful of a few random songs but I really have to be in the mood for them). AA is alright and I like what I’ve heard by +44 just haven’t put much effort into +44 though. They broke the mold by making good side projects lol. Also Chad from new found glory’s solo side project was good when he had it going but think he’s stopped as well as NFG as a wholesaler side project as the ISHC.
Wuv from p.o.d. Has a pretty good side project with fieldy from korn ( think wuvs doing it full time tho either left p.o.d. Or has been taking a little break since they’ve been having some friends fill in on drums for some tours the last however long).
Comeback-kid started as a side project for Jeremy and Andrew of figure four and look where that’s gone since then.
Always hear good things about blaqk audio ( Davey& jade - AFI) but haven’t really listened much. Also the supergroup that davey is in with tony from no doubt and others is interesting haha I don’t really have an opinion on that project due to all I’ve seen it live videos with crummy audio so hard to judge (dream car?).

I want more Box Car Racer so badly. I'm excited for Tom returning to Blink and I enjoy Angels & Airwaves, but more Box Car at the same level of their only album would be amazing.

That Big Dumb Face album (him and his brother screwing around) is a blast, but it's not quite fair to mention them and not Black Light Burns -- Wes' serious project.

Stone Sour Demo sounds like my front door neighbour who wanted to sound "up to date" with his band in 1994 ... the guy was really cool, but looked like Lars in 1989 ;)

Every Blink-182 cult member is going to hate me for this one but: all their side projects > blink lol. Have never been able to get into blink but all their side projects strike my fancy ( haven’t listened to much +44 but like what I’ve heard and angels and airwaves isn’t the highest in the side project rotation but would probably pick over blink). Ironically toms vocals in blink get old to me after awhile ( if I dabble in a blink song the random off chance I put one on. They tend to be Marc on lead voc and Tom are back up) but I love boxcar lol it doesn’t make sense to me because of not being the biggest fan of toms voice so it may seem hypocritical but it is what it is. Think it’s due to him slightly singing different on the boxcar album?. But yes come at me with the hate lol. Used to hate blink when I was younger but now they’re just whatever even if I can’t get into them outside of a couple songs but I have to be in the mood ( odd that I don’t like blink since I love pop-punk and all the bands they’re friends with and probably some that they inspired also love Travis’ drumming as well as marks bass and vocals ).

Blink is way to simple pop punk. Awful vocals and too many ‘samey’ dumb songs. Easy way to print $ I guess - don’t overestimate your audience.

Prophets of Rage probably doesn't work as well as RATM because 1. No Zack, and 2. Tom is just a rich lib.

The more you make yourself listen the better it gets, but… you have to really really really give it a chance.

If you do another one of these videos, here's a few side projects I've come across over the years: The Almost (Aaron from Underoath), Pinkly Smooth (Brian & Jimmy from Avenged), Bayonet(Buddy from Senses Fail), Speak the Truth... (Buddy and most of Finch), We Are Harlot (Danny from Asking Alexandria), William Control (Will from Aiden), Aaron West & the Roaring Twenties (Soupy from The Wonder Years) & The Postal Service. Some are good, some not so much, but they're all interesting in their own right.
