I am a proud KENYAN. Was listening to your program and the first caller said “ you cannot compare Kenya and Nigeria b’coz Kenya has 2 LANGUAGES”. WRONG!!! Point of correction to the caller. KENYA is a multilingual country. Has 2 main OFFICIAL languages spoken all over the country with other population - ENGLISH and SWAHILI. However, Kenya has more than 42 LANGUAGES, that means more tribes and cultures. But according to Wikipedia KENYA has a total of 68 languages spoken, with a population of 54-55 million.

I don't see why anyone should compare. The problem is what we should look at and learn from the Kenyan situation. Nigerians keep comparing and in the process give ourselves the reason not to fix our country. I am a proud Nigerian but we have a lot to learn

@@florenceucheignatius4911 They are comparing because right now in Nigeria, there is a potential to have another endSars and people cannot but draw the correlation between what happened in Nigeria in 2020 and may happen again with what is currently going on in Kenya right now. The signs are obvious and similar

@@Ninenifea but their comparisons is focused on reasons why its not the same situation. But if you compare to help you identify and find ways to do things differently that will make sense. But i am hearing reasons why its not the same and why Kenya protests work and why it cant work in Nigeria. That's what im hearing from their comparisons. I dont know if im making sense. If you compare to identify the similarities, differences, techniques and ways and maybe outcomes, that will help you know where we got it wrong. Bjt im hearing someone say Kenya is not the same soze in population or diversity in language and culture. That appears to me making excuse why it wont be the same outcome

Nigerians only have bantus,. Kenya has bantus, nilotes, cushites, arabs and indians. We somehow have been united by oppression. It can happen when you are collectively pissed.

It has to be more than the constitution, it has to be because the youth are engaged took charge of their destiny. Jamaica has a reformed constitution like Kenya in 2011 but the government continuously infringe, abridge and abrogate the constitution without reaction of the public. Not even the legal profession, the court, the judiciary, the police respect the constitution but we see the Kenyan Law Society activated on behalf of the protesters. Kenyan Gen Z has set a standard for the global African peoples around the rest of the world!
When a Registrar of the Supreme Court regarding people's constitutional rights as trivial and not be infringing and abrogating of the constitution! Hats off to the Kenyan Youths!

Kenya has 44 ethnic languages. An average Kenyan speaks at least 3 languages. What connects us is that we all speak Swahili which is the national language and English which is official language. However, we all belong to a tribe and most of us speak our language as well!

is it me or am i just being unfair on nigerians, BUT, in my travels and interactions spanning 4 continents, you meet nigerians abroad who are blissfully ignorant about the rest of the continent. AND, they love using the population argument always, a premise that has very spindly legs.

I agree with your comments and I would extend your generalisation to the local population of most West African countries (working professionals who work & travel throughout Africa have a better & broader understanding). One Ghanian was surprised to learn that Ghana to Kenya flight time was 5 hours; he'd thought Ghana to USA which was 12 hours was a shorter distance for his family vacation 😂

Most of what the guest is saying is similar to what is going on in Nigeria, that's why I cannot blame the callers who kept comparing. Nigerians are the most traveled due to the population, so you will get Nigerians in all shapes, the good, the bad and the ugly. In Nigeria, the youths got killed and there was ethnic division, in Kenya they have put their differences aside for now. The politicians know how to divide and rule. They pitched the young against the old so that the old will think it was a youth protest but the youth were fighting for everyone in society. The Kenyans are wise to learn from what happened in Nigeria because if you take your feet of the pedal, the politicians will crush you so take your country back right now that you have the opportunity.

The one thing that is different from Kenya with “maybe” other African countries is our constitution. In 2010, the constitution changed and power was given to the people and favours the people. POWER lies with the people of Kenya. So what Kenya has done/is still doing may not favour your your country, however, it is obviously an eye opener to other African countries especially their leaders. Be informed of your country’s constitution.

President has to appease the youth because those who are not happy can trigger a signed petition which will require only 1-2 million signatures. Please note, we are allowed to protest.. its part of our democratic process.
