Yes i would pay for quality software that makes my life more convenient while respecting my privacy and rights

In a heartbeat. I honestly feel like people who understand privacy and how Google and others use our data would probably be willing to donate even more.

I would gladly pay for this. This is the change we need. I will gladly purchase their products if they decide to sell them. I'm starting to be a FUTO-stan

This is great. I really love Google Photos but I don't want my personal photos used for AI.

The trust I have in FUTO products is crazy already, happily will pay for any offerings because the impact is worthwhile. Grayjay, FUTO voice typing and keyboard have been FANTASTIC to use.

Thank you very much. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing people enjoy our software. It means the world to us. What we would like more than anything is scathing, cutting, HONEST feedback! Anytime you find something that is not working up to par, we want our engineering team to make this software the best in the world.

@@FUTOTECH The amazing thing is, so far I have had but one small gripe with Grayjay and am happy to report to all users that the devs took it seriously and got back to me faster than anyone could expect. Proof in the pudding that there is true care behind these products. Cheers.

Koen & Kelvin take more pride in their work than any developer I've ever met. We are genuinely lucky to have them.

3 months free than pay, or a light free limited version, than pay. Giving people the option to get it completely free does not work well... This software can be promoted through the Linux Distros.

I think I'm buying Eron's obsession with the small details and software speed. Hope companies like FUTO will became "captalism done" right role model and inpire new generations of entrepreneurs to "not suck". Kudos.

To be honest you only need and should speed up the part of code that comes out of the process of profiling code - only the functions and the function interaction (if interaction is a handicap) - i am finally happy that i know what was that video about paying for open source - so it was all about Immich :)

15 minutes checking the webpage and trying but i still dont know how to set up the app, is there a video showing exactly how to install this thing? if not, i think that should be the first thing you should do :/
Maybe im too old for this sht, in a bad way.

If I have to install it on a docker server that i spin up. It should be open and kind of free. I would pay for any service for the software. Another option is that you host it and we pay as a consumer.

    • @FUTOTECH
      @FUTOTECH  Před 2 měsíci +3

_"If I have to use docker, it should be free"_ - aka, something other people spend tens of thousands of their life on to perfect at the expense of pursuing other avenues of making a living, should not allow them to purchase food & pay their water bill, even if it provides genuine value to thousands of people.
Honestly, this is the attitude that results in ad-driven business models that result in people being the product rather than the customer. If people believe you should only have to pay for a cloud service, well, no wonder every company offers so many products *ONLY* as cloud services. It is very odd that giving people the _option_ and the _freedom_ to host their own instance is something that in your mind would result in the provider of the software being penalized rather than rewarded.
We get the world we deserve, and the world that we ask for; for better or for worse.

      @@FUTOTECH Response
Hey Rossman. Big fan. Thanks for the response. Im a developer myself that has released open source and free software. I understand that this is not a sustainable model at all. But to be perfectly honest with you it is very hard to have a grounded discussion without exact pricing on the table. We, as consumers, have no idea if Immich is going to be a fixed price or a subscription license. Whether its gonna cost me $20/months or $300 one time purchase over the lifespan of the product. If you are gonna put the subject on the table and dont talk concretely about pricing, we are just talking philosophy over something abstract that wont do any good to the Imich founders or FUTO. Either someone like myself wants it or not. But with no exact price its impossible for me to
realistically make that decision. We risk having this absurd abstract discussion about freeware every-time you do a product launch.
Honestly, the subject did not cross my mind until you guys brought it up. If you had said this will cost x, i would have responded differently. For example, by saying that maybe you guys should consider lowering the price of it is self installed vs paying for a full white glove solution where i only pay to create my unique account and you take care of the cloud. The reason being that the cost to setup is a time that will cost me. My time. I think as you go forward, you should improve on this as a company.
Hate to say it but apple is a master of this. They show you all cool stuff and gadgets and THEN in the end they show you the sticker price. Its a strategy for story telling that works for non techy people. Which i presume is how you want to market the product.
Myself. I will weight the cost of that solution against the cost of Google Photos, Proton Drive and Synology servers i have. If the price point is good, Ill switch over because i have three places to store my photos and videos and would love to just have one.

Right now, we are planning for the self hosted version to be a one time payment, and for the SaaS version where we set it up & host your account is a subscription. Being AGPL, we are going to be considering it paid software, but with an "infinite" trial version w/ no DRM, trackers, ads, or spyware. There will be an option within the software to buy it, but it will work with full functionality even if you do not purchase it. It's essentially the honor system.

I am looking for a software, to find alle my fotos with my left foot on it, in a pile of 100k photos, without leaving the privacy of my own harddrive. This could be it. I am looking forward to get a binary. Go Team Go. I say 42, Martin
