  • Trying to figure out why the VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, ABS, BRAKE and CEL lights are lit up in your Gen 1 Toyota Sequoia, and having a hard time reading codes using a scan tool? ISSUE SOLVED.
    Two issues, to be fair. One issue preventing the codes from being read, the other issue hiding behind an intermittently faulty brand new part.

    Thanks for shedding light on this issue. I changed the cat converter and sensors, but refused to change anything else. I am always concerned that the light will be on when I am trying to get my annual emission check on my 2003.

    Thanks bro. This was an actual problem with me, but unfortunately it did not solve original problem, which is something in the right rear ABS sensor circuit. The voltage is reading between 0 and 0.2 volts as the wheel spins and the resistance is approximately 1,360 ohms all the way up to the module. I'm suspecting the module but I don't know how to test it

    this is interesting! i have an 06 v8 4runner and these lights are on. funny because my blue driver, didnt pull the codes also. i contacted them and they said to revert back to an old software update with-in the app. nothing worked for me. wondering if you put your blue drive back on to see if it would have picked up the codes? finally, a purge valve threw abs trac and srs codes?

      I did throw my Bluedriver back on to recheck it, and it does take a long time to scan, involving having to turn off the ignition periodically and turn it back on per instructions on the Bluedriver app screen, but eventually it does scan all the modules now. And yes, the bad purge valve made the CEL, VSC Trac and ABS lights come on.

    I have a 2004 Toyota Sequoia, all lights on , I took it with a electrician friend he scanned and independently tested the components. And he says everything it’s ok , just need to replace the speedometer

      Would you post again with a follow up after you do this? Would love confirmation, if this is indeed another problem that can cause all the lights to go on.

    Haven’t watched the video yet but I have this issue.
    I predict it’s a ground problem for the ABS.

    I’m having the same symptoms. How did they test which wires were faulty on the obd2 connector?

    • @CliffjumperCars
      @CliffjumperCars  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Wire by wire testing with a multimeter for continuity, resistance & voltage, per the factory repair manual electrical diagrams.

    I have the brake light on as well as trac / vsc no check engine though. I’ll start off with changing the gas cap and crossing my fingers. Lol 😂

    Did these lights come on intermittently before they turned on and stayed on? My gf is having issues with the intermittent lights and she has 6 kids. She is concerned about accidents with the 6 kids. Toyota put out a notice about the ecu needing to be updated but from what I’ve read it doesn’t work for most people. Idk if it’s being installed incorrectly or what but I’m a disabled veteran so I can’t afford a mechanic. I can do the work myself but idk what to change

    • @CliffjumperCars
      @CliffjumperCars  Před rokem

      Best approach is to get your hands on a scan tool with factory level diagnostics that can scan the ABS computer, check to see what Toyota specific codes are popping up, and go from there. If you're not able to read the ABS codes, it's back to basics with circuit testing to make sure the OBD2 port is actually working correctly and providing power to the ABS ECU to be able to read it. But given how many possibilities there are for error codes that make these lights illuminate, it's best to start there rather than guess and throw parts at it.

    Got a question for you…I replaced the instrument cluster lights with T-5 led lights and all the lights you mentioned went on. VSC TRAC and CEL. I took the LED bulbs back out and put the originals back but the lights stayed on. 🫤

    When do you thnk your engine dianostic link broke and how?

    • @CliffjumperCars
      @CliffjumperCars  Před 7 měsíci

      Great question. I suspect given how small the wiring is going to that connector and the age of the vehicle, they were simply hardened and brittle from age and heat cycles. At some point at least one wire broke, which kept the OBD port from fully functioning, not facilitating communication with the ABS controller.

    • @CliffjumperCars

      Best to scan and get the exact code to find out what has gone wrong.

  • @akulahawk
    @akulahawk Před rokem +1

    I suspect the reason why that isn't in the repair manuals is that it's not something expected to fail...

    • @CliffjumperCars
      @CliffjumperCars  Před rokem

      Yep. Gets back to really basic mechanic 101 circuit tracing, & not depending no the OBD2 system and enhanced diagnostic systems, when it's those systems themselves or at least the main component for connecting to those systems that has actually failed.
