Not sure this is true. My sister grows herbs vegetables and fruit on her balcony outside and none of them were growing well. She put a snake plant on her balcony and she begin to notice her strawberry plant begin to thrive. Then she moved it to her tomato plant and the same thing happened. The snake plant made every plant it was near thrive. And her balcony is on a busy intersection with lots of traffic. So NASA was on to something.

I keep bromeliads in the bedroom not to purify the air for me, but to provide them with a heavier concentration of carbon dioxide the effects of which on growth are clearly visible. They draw this gas in and form maleic acid in cells then at daybreak they use the energy from the sun to convert this maleic acid to carbohydrates and sugars to create new growth. It is in effect a raw material for food. Carbon dioxide indoors may be five times the density of that outdoors.

I think it is good to support the planting of trees and plants in urban towns and cities. We need more trees and plants in every town and city. We also need wide open spaces all around cities dedicated solely for this purpose. Every built up area should have more spacing just for trees and plants. We know it worked to reduce pollution because in England trees were planted centuries ago in cities to clean up the polluted air mostly due to dirty house coal being burned at that time. The amount of pollution being emitted (burned) was not reduced during this time period of planting trees but the air was much cleaner so we know this worked. As a result people's health improved.

I bought snake plants 2yrs ago just for the sake of having plants and decor, however, when we are having the wet/rainy winter down under for weeks, my room got odd odor and I can't properly breath as all balcony doors and windors been closed, when I moved my snake plants from living room to bedroom since I did rearranging for few days I noticed the fresh air and off odor disappeared and been sleeping well with clean air. Then I realized how effective air purifying plants. I got some for bathroom and house of peace lilies, Chinese evergreen, etc to reduce dampness and clean up air and they worked.

Like, did you not watch the whole video?? He literally said that there IS good evidence that house plants make us feel calmer and more peaceful. With houses becoming more air-tight relative to the past, I wonder if we graphed "number of air changes per hour in the home" on one axis and "number of house plants required to acheive the results of the NASA study" on the other, what would the resultant curve look like?
I know forced air heating makes this whole thing not so straightforward simce you exhaust air to the outside and the furnace pulls in new air from the outside. During cooling though, the air is recycled so maybe ot could make a difference there.

Well, it is a fact as you say that plants do remove some nasties from the air and they release oxygen, even if it's an extreme minute amount - I'll take it and be happy. I don't live in a sealed environment, but I'll take one particle being removed by plants and I'll be happy with whatever oxygen comes out - something is better than nothing. Every little bit helps. Also, they are extremely beautiful and it's a fact that plants are beneficial to humans in more ways than one. There will be more studies.

I just found your channel and I am really enjoying your videos, I would have to disagree with the logic you used in this video though.
I don't see how you came to the conclusion you have. What you've stated is that no realistic amount of plants can purify the air more than is already provided by the natural air gaps in houses. This is likely true, however, this isn't a counter to the NASA study and subsequent sales tactics as, as far as I know, they don't claim that plants are more effective than natural air gaps, and they don't advocate for living in a closed system with plants instead. The NASA claim is that having house plants would give you cleaner air than not having them, which is irrelevant to having drafts present in your house, and still true after considering the points that you raised in this video.
Anyway, I'm not trying to put down this video, I just think that this is a really interesting topic of conversation. Let me know if I've missed anything, keep up the good videos :)
