In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. Be sure to stay subscribed to stay up to date with my latest expeditions, y'all!
Anyone else find themselves getting a education in scrap driving to work looking at the sidewalk trash saying stuff like ohh that’s that extruded aluminum painted right there…. There’s some little snibbets over there etc 😂😂😂
Those large boxes arent for phones, they are variable frequency drives for electric motors. On the front it says ahu which stands for air handler unit. They went to the motors for their a/c systems. VFD's are for motor effiency.
worth a mint
Yup, those are worth a pretty penny to someone! You might try to bulk sell them, I’m sure someone would take the risks for hundreds or thousands of dollars.
I hope Mike doesn't scrap them. With those controllers he could purchase a new trailer.
I picked up 2 trailers one from a farm in Pa and can handle 3500 pounds the other came from a church sale.

@@robertschwartzman195 What lol
HOLY HELL those E7 are programable PWM 3 phase drive motors! WOW WOW WOW and in the dumpster Holy hell!!!!!!!!
Yes motor drives. I worked on regenerative 480 v 3 ph drives at Emerson but drives like that at a school ? For what.
It is the canopy verses Mike the Scavenger, after three times canopy tries to put Mike down, Mike comes back with a forward flip and it is Mike who wins the contest. There should be a gold belt for scrap domination, yes.
Ahhhhhhhhhh (sound of an audience)
That was quite the canopy fight, he he
Love how he jumps right in not worried about sharps or glass you go boy
Thanks for the entertainment. Love your personality. Keeps us coming back for more.
The yaskawas are frequency converters for motors. I would remove the small boxes on top, clean them, and sell on ebay. Then remove the smaller parts, and sell them separately. Should bring very good money.
I personally would test them too, with some scrapped 3 Phase AC Motor, would be fun. :)
I went on Ebay and the prices start at $100. - 3500. Thli se are used prices.
To be honest, they looked as if they were damaged (possibly on purpose to stop resale?) or someone had already pulled some stuff out of them for themselves.
Scrappers don't realize that they could make 10-1000 times more money by actually reselling half of what they destroy. I've seen scrappers think they made the score of a lifetime by getting $1000 for a load that they could have made at least $500,000 by selling instead. I've seen priceless antiques get scrapped by these people just to get a few bucks that a collector would literally kill for. I personally think they should make scrapping illegal, but that's just my opinion. If you're gonna do it, do it RIGHT. Don't just look for the quick buck, and miss out on the REAL money. Sure it will take more time, but you'll more than make up for it in the end.
@@frankeknarfI agree! I haven't watched enough of Mike's videos to know if this applies to him, but a lot of the scrappers talk about saving the planet, but they forget that reuse of items is far far more environment friendly than recycling materials.
@@frankeknarf I know right! Scrapping isn’t even worth it to me, it’s all about the actual products I find to sell
The canopy struggle was really real... Best laugh I had all day...
I was surprised you didn't get up on top of Dottie's cab and give that canopy the "Macho Man Randy Savage" elbow drop!!! 😂😂😂😂 Great video Mike!!!
Yep totally lost it when he was trying to man handle it
Mike wins the Canopy Battle!💪
Good morning Mike how are you ? Hope all is well. Stay safe good luck, much to you and your family. 🥰
Dude those Yaskawa Units aren't for phone systems. They are used to drive variable speed DC (*Edit* I meant AC) Motors, I'm guessing the school used them in their ventilation system. If that were all new you'd be looking at about $60,000 worth of drivers right there. But even in that condition offer all those as a lot you could probably get a couple grand. Some of the stuff I see get scrapped breaks my heart lol.
If you don't know it you won't appreciate it.
Yup, LOVE to get my hands on one of those to play with. Plus a few motor. Mike always finds the kewlest stuff
@@darrenwatson1539 same here! I build and repair electronics, I would love to have some of the stuff he nabbs!
The Post Apocalyptic Inventor speaks about this waste all the time.
@@Moflydotcom Thank you for mentioning that channel. YT doesn't give me good channels because my kid spams my account with k-pop stuff. I'm still weeding out my little pony stuff from many years ago. 😆
My goodness mike. I'm exhausted just watching you. But I'll get over that. You help us all to learn a lot every time we watch one of your episodes. Please take care and stay safe. Talk at you later. 👍👍❤️❤️
Small mini motors are usually way more expensive than say ones the diameter of a tennis ball. After doing a physical inventory or a couple weeks before, depending on the accounting rules, we'd purge non-active parts inventory and a crap ton of perfectly functioning but very specific parts ended up in the dumpster. They cost an arm and a leg to buy originally but depreciated on the books over 7 to 3 years depending and then the accountants want them gone regardless. The way the world works makes me want to cry sometimes.
At least you're keeping some of out of the landfills, MTS.
Nice lamps!
Careful of those busted florescent lights. "Hold yo breath".
Wear a mask to be safe.
So funny was the part when you were struggling with the canopy parts. Also loved Hello it’s me. Dumpster whisperer!
Thanks for taking us along....we enjoy it.
I just have fun listening to you talk.🤣👍
It’s fine if you don’t record every scrap run, but can you post the receipt every time? I love seeing how much you make on stuff.
Awesome show Mike the Scavenger makes me want to go bin diving.
We seen us a Canopy Fight - ha ! All that Telephone Stuff - Good Scrap - Brilliant Find indeed - again You Worked very hard and got Rewarded ! Well done - we love it ! Another Successful Evening ! Cheers from us in Australia !!!!
Sending prayers for Australia and the ridiculous lockdown
@@5thdimension625 Thank You - they also want to Vaccinate all Children with these Chemical's here in Australia !
That school missed out on a great teaching moment. They could have had Mike over to teach the kids about recycling. I would have sat in on that!
Love that you can make money doing your part to help the environment. Nice :)
easier to wrestle an octopus than getting that canopy in !
Glad no smell a vision 😂
Epic canopy wrestling! Don't let the scrap kick your okoli! Lots of videos lately! Love it! ❤
Was a good laugh for sure. I woulda thrown it back out on curb
Totally epic, Mike Vs. Wet Canopy "LETS GET READ TO RUMMMBLE" lol so many giggles and smile due to you mike. Keep it up brotha.
I love it when you get really pissed at things that don't behave and fight back. I thought you were going to start jumping up and down on it. Really funny 😂😃
Mike almost tapped out... it was close lol
Canopy, can a' pee, can a' pee. Too funny, Mike 😆
I believe they stopped the mercury vapor a good few years in those bulbs.
Nope! The bulbs with the green ends have 'less' but still have mercury. Many garbage streams outlaw fluorescent tubes or CFL bulbs; however, it's rarely enforced. That was a scam to jump in that contaminated dumpster.
How are you doing Mike My name is chunky I'm a scrapper too today I found a trailer load of rebar copper wiring cat wire and aluminum I like your videos and I've been scrapping since I was like 10 years old so hopefully you do good and you have fun at what you do God bless you
Oh man that red canopy had us roaring with laughter, we have had the same experience haha
All I kept thinking while you were wrestling that unruly canopy was “dang! Quiet down canopy!”?🤣🤣
Those Yaskawa units are for air handlers which is why they are marked AHU for Air Handler Unit. I see a lot of those around the building I work in. They are for the HVAC system.
I can't believe they threw out all those motors, their wound in copper inside! Sweet! I used to sell electric motors in the 70s and I like trying to identify the speed when Mike picks one up!😊😊😊
variable frequency drives @ 21:00 from the school dumpster. super expensive
Man,you hit the motor jackpot!
Can't help remembering all those movies when the hero escapes certain death by jumping into a dumpster from the top of a building. Just hope it's not full of light tubes.
It's too hot outside here in the Nederlends now so what do we do,
watch Mike's episodes and see what special features he finds in the containers to scrap.
You always make me laugh with your comments on what you find in the trash.
Lol....canopy was like wrestlin with a spider
Mike that canopy was straight up kickin' your arse
I laughed so hard when you wrestled that canopy! 😂😂😂 Great videos again.
Mike those are the dumpsters that keep on giving.
Every time I watch these, I seriously wonder about the heavy BREATHING inside the dumpster with all that unknown trash dust hanging in the air.... especially the industrial dumpsters !!
ha when you was fightin with the canopy benny hills chase music was playing in me head yay tear down vid on phone systems yay
It's the elbow bump for me 🤣
That's exactly how I fold up my canopy after each use!
I bet thats the most fun you add at school
I would really love to see a video were you break down a rough daily, weekly table of time spent diving and sorting/processing to what sort of money you get from the scrap metal man. What sort of prices you get for different materials.
He probably makes more money off CZcams views
I live in Australia and this sort of thing doesn’t really happen much, so it’s interesting to see folks doing regularly.
Well you did tell the canopy to let you have it and it did. Lol.
Love it bro old school retro clocks aswel surprised you didn't take all those sell good in uk .. 👍
Its kinda amazing, I look, see nothing, and he has five boxes later😂🎯
Me too 😂
Keep scrapping Mike.Your video make my day!
The Yaskawa are freq drives. There was a sticker on one of em that id it for an air handler unit, not phone system. They will have a big heat sink on back of them that’s all aluminum. The larger box underneath has a transformer that’s good scrap and that’s about it.
Great find on the phone stuff good e waste in them very good video two thumbs
Mike the yaskawa equipment you pulled out is not for the phone system, they are variable frequency drives for the air handler motors. Great site and enjoy watching your adventures.
I lost it when you were handling that canope
I just threw 2 canopies away but I built a 4x3x2 ft trailer out of one. added 2 12inch wheels and a pin hitch and I'll use it around the yard.
Lol! Sorry you make me laugh and smile when you get hurt. I'm not a bad person. But yet you always have a come back!! Haveing a very bad day. 😭. But love watching you. Thanks
That canopy bit had me literally ROTFLMMFAO!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Watching you with that canopy was like Watching Maxwell Smart fold a lawn chair! That was so funny. Lol. Lol. Lol.
Wowzers!!!! You hit the mother load again!!! You should do really well with those converters!! Great scrap run!!! Enjoyed watching!!!
Hit the like button folks. Mike doesn’t get paid on views only likes
Also watch a few adds that helps Mike out a lot ... cheers
Good job.
Man you work hard doing that , hats off to you man 🤩
Great adventure!!!Thanks for the ride along!!!!!The canopy was too funny!!!!
The Scavenger - "Creeping through this neighbourhood." "ooh a bit of scrap." CRASH BANG THUD CLANG.
Mike, not to be contrary, but those are Automation controls for Heating and Air conditioning systems. They control the air handling units. That’s why it says AHU - 1, etc. Love your videos and your channel. Also, your quirky sense of humor, and such. Lol. Keep them coming and thank you. 😊👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸
come on lamps you can ride up front with Mike, no need to sit back in cattle class for you guys LOL
No one ever.. mike is stealthy 😆
It fun to get the perspective of being watched. I did it all wrong last night, felt spooked and left. I was parked on the wrong side of the road... doh nvm
Mike those little helium tanks have a knock out part in the top so they can be scraped
Those yaskawa boxes are drive cabinets and they control motors 3 phase stuffed
You scored on motors. Keep saving them up till ya got a bunch. Thats what me and my gal pal does. Only 2 female truck scrappers in town.We compete against the guys and we know them all. Most stop and say hey. We check each others loads out, that’s why the guys stop. Checking out the competition😂😂😂
One day when you open up a dumpster and say hello, someone is going to answer, and then I will laugh myself sick!
Do a strip out on those boxes some prep videos before the scrap yard would be cool to see
That was so cool please more emptying Dottie video
Yep, that dumpster just keeps on giving! 😁
Canopy wrestling was some funny stuff. Fun, fun, fun!
That bin full of broken tubes tho 😂 that’s what the boots are for!
Hi Mike you should take the copper out of the ballasts...
The struggle is real…damn canopy.
Best off all in F1! Last race, last curve to overtake... perfect finish 👍👍👍
Allways alot of energy in your vids! Good 2 watch 😊💪🏼
FYI if the refringent tanks are recyclable is the relief disk is punctuated
Perfect dumpster diving weather. Hit some this morning.
Good work and right on time lol
man I would love a couple of those VFD's hell even just some of the enclosures and din rail.
Watching you aim and throw those objects you find from a skip into a small box , that far way if ever you come across a game where you aim and fire center , you would win hands down
Like corn hole
It's just like an octopus 🐙, lol.
Yaskawa E7 is an electric motor drive controller...I worked in telecom switching 5ess for almost 20 years.
The white painted aluminum extrusion is a piece of a ceiling track for a patient lift. The silver extrusion is a piece of a stairlift.
When are you going to make a cleaning scrap video. We want to see them please👍😁
Very cool phone phinds 🤣
Awesome fight with that canopy Mike. I am still laughing. My wife thinks i"m watching a comedy.
The heavy aluminum pieces that were painted white are a track for a partions wall or a accordion wall divides one room for two rooms , they are celling tracks / Hold by all threads on top of the track and pins for connections top side , Hope thats helps .
48,000 people are litterally watching this guy rummage through dumpsters lol love it
US most have the most third world garbage disposal. What an absolute treasure. Good job getting thoose batteries out from the landfill. And for reducing the need of mining. While making some dollars. Wonderful man!
Howdy Texas neighbor! wish the place where I live which is on the border of T & LA was big enough to have dumpsters all over, I'd have to go over 20 miles just to see a dumpster! lol, that's why I like watching your videos you got a nice little haul of actuator motors some of the fan motor that were new runs about 150 a pop aisle them suckers ! have a good day! keep the videos coming
Great videos as always
LOVE Mike the Scavenger! Went on my first dumpster diving trip, had 1100 lbs!
I’m not sure how MTS got into my YT algorithm but I’m glad it did!
