Cheers Joshy! Following this video step by step enabled us to repaint our two garage roller doors over a weekend, except we didn’t need to apply the Dulux metalshield as we couldn’t identify any rust on it doors, and we used brushes instead of spray gun. Legend!

@@paintingbyjosh Turned out pretty close to perfect 😆 I left the door closed for close to a week to set after painting because i knew there would be a chance some paint may come off at certain spots from rubbing when opening & closing the roller door. So far, so good. While i had the sprayer out, i painted the garage cladding..... looks like a brand new garage now & I'm stoked. Now I'm going to re-spray my old colorbond fence & a section of corrugated roof using the same technique. Girl power!!
@@chrise9877 I'm surprised it didn't stick shut 😅 only joking it's always good to leave it as long as you can so the paint can cure probably. Glad it all worked out with the garage door and just repeat the same process on the colorbond fence and you will have no problem. Thanks for the update🙏 respect

What tip did you use for the 2 coats of weathershield? 312 green? Or 315?
Great job..I only have 3 roller doors to do, is there a DIY type spray gun that you would recommend or is it better to hire a pro spray system for a day?.

Can you use regular oil based enamel, or should it be a 2 part epoxy type paint?

Love the videos. Have you ever had any issues with the Dulux max adhesion primer? I have heard several negative comments about it. Also, would you use the same process on metal gutters as the garage doors? Thanks
May I ask why you don't use a 3ft production wand?? Way less going up and down a ladder and you can spray for edge to edge instead of stop in the middle(lap marks) not hating at all brother, much love from California... I like all the prep that you do
Hey mate, I didn't use a ladder to spray? I sprayed whole door from edge to edge from the ground. Much love from newcastle AUSTRALIA

Thank you 🙏 the primer is Dulux Max Adhesion it's waterbased. Top coats Dukux Weathershield is waterbased also 🤙

Nice job mate, are you doing several passes to hitnthe edges? Gotta roller door to do with similar shape.
Hey mate, yeah with this type of door you need to pivot the gun up and down with each past to get both upper and lower edges. Hope this helps 👍

hardest thing for me is compatibility between types of paints , seems like the zinc paint would be oil based, im copying you im painting old colorbond and i dont want it to peel.
Seems like the manual sanding is the slowest part. Is there any power tool than can sand large areas of irregular surfaces? If there is not their should be.
The prep is always the longest part💯 there is nothing really out there for this. Sometimes hand sanding is the only way! I 🙏

@peg372 yes for adhesion purposes not the best as a primer over bare metal compared to metal etch primer 👍
Also, if mine haven’t been painted before will I need more primer than you used?
No just a mist coat over bare metals is always best for adhesion. Cheers sunny
Hey josh. Love the vids mate. I've spray painted an electric shutter with dulux high gloss (navy) ontop of dulux supergrip primer. I sanded the shutter before paint and prime but I went back the next day and there's patches where paint has smudged of and you can see little white marks from when the shutter opens. Any idea why this has this occurred mate.
how long did it take you to do those 3 doors? I am Bidding on a huge storage unit place 237 unit doors .I was wounding if you remember?
Depending on condition but if just a light sand and tape you could do between 5-10 a day ones prep is done its around two minute's per door per coat. Hope this helps mate👍
is the primer acrylic or oil based ?
The primer is Acrylic
Hi josh, do you thin your paint at all if using the Dulux Maxi Flex product when spraying roller doors, given the 312 Tip is fairly fine?
Hi mate. Definitely not I don't thin down any paint other than maybe a little in the aquanamel for better spray optimisation 🙏🤙 i used a fflp308 on my last garage door using maxi-flex

Hi, it was only was only to spot prime any bare metal. Went though about half a can.
Is a 517 tip good for roller doors
