Alec and I went to music school for the Jazz Studies program in Winnipeg at the same time. He's an amazing musician and a dope dude! It's so awesome to see him play music with his famous childhood friend again!

Do you think there's a possibility that within that authenticity, there's a bit of an affectation to appease the fans that expect mac to be mac? I sometimes wonder if that's the case (which to some small degree I'm sure it is) but the guy definitely comes off as chronically chill and makes good music. Gotta appreciate that.

(I can't) It's like that Father John Misty lyric that goes "a little less human with each release, closing the gap between the mask and me" Except this new album brings to surface other sides of Mac that show his humanity. Long story short, I don't know what the fuck i'm talking about and only Mac really knows who Mac is, hahaha

He at least seems professional enough to leave that behind closed doors. If he gets annoyed lol. I just think he is really happy and humble about what he is doing and where he is in life :) Grateful I would call it :) Ofc, he has bad days like the rest of us and get tired of things. But to me, he dosen´t seem to be someone that lashes out rather walk away from the moment. It´s very telling for example about how he chosen to deal with his father.
Mac's guitar playing is so over looked I don't understand why. His playing is so clean.
What really makes it stand out is his use of syncopation and use of upstroke during his riffs. Also the fact that on the records he blends 2 channels of guitar to make one huge bouncy riff.

The piano/vocal version of MY OLD MAN makes me tear up like a baby every time I hear it, from the first word to the last note. Mac demarco is a musical treasure of this generation.
When he talks about his dad, you can hear a slight crack in his voice. Like he gets struck emotionally. Kinda sad. But Mac is awesome. And it's cool he still remains as happy as possible.

I love his personality, he is just so much fun to watch in interviews, I saw him live a few summers ago with my music producer friend, honestly one of the best performances I've seen, a no bull shit show, he told the P.A guys to stop the light show and just turn up all the lights so he could see the crowd, rare for a musician to do, I wanna throw my friend some love as we've been through a lot together he's heavily influenced by Mac, try searching Lonely Gimmick - Grumpy Days ,you may be in for a surprise and he would love to hear your opinion

He is an example of a good guy who isn’t out for anyone, he just wants to figure out life in a good, simple and easy way. What a man. What a dude.
