- Incredible band from the Evansville, Indiana area. This one, and their second record "The Record Play", are damn-near perfect in my mind. Released in 1998 on Lobster Records.
Tracklist:
1.) Growing Crooked
2.) We Work
3.) Does It Show
4.) Window Shopping
5.) Paper
6.) All You Have
7.) Poster Child
8.) Dictionary
9.) Drinking Song
10.) Goodnight Raddick - Hudba
A student of mine, Derrick Hopkins has a relative in this band and his mother referenced me to them. I am a professional guitarist from Pensacola Florida and I have been LONGING for this sound for so long. Takes me back to some of my favorite alt/punk rock bands ever like The Lush, The Always, and so many more. SO GLAD I stumbled upon this band. If your views break 500 or 1,000... its' me. I'm putting it on repeat forever guys.
hey, i'm from Pensacola! I used to play guitar in some bands back in 2003-05, far from professional though. the very first show I played in '03 just so happened to fall on the same day that mock orange was playing at another venue in town. hindsight being 20/20, I wish I had scrapped my show and went to see these guys instead!
Damn you listened to this 27,000 times???

Opened for these guys in 1999 at a punk rock show, and I remember like yesterday how the entire crowd sat in silence as they blew everyone away for the entirety of their set. Still one of my all time favorite albums.
Agreed. I never saw them live, but as far as I can tell, they are the reigning champs of thier genre. better than Braid, SDRE, ect....just perfect.
@@macmiddlebrooks1 idk about all that, but they're good.
@@mrskinszszs lol yeah, sometimes people post comments at the time they're really connecting with the music; I notice that a lot on YT that they immediately call anything a MASTERPIECE even if it's just an above average album, but you gotta step back and look at it in a more measured, objective way. This is a good album, but it's not groundbreaking by any means.
@@plotinuswashereit's just an opinion
@@macmiddlebrooks1braids influence shouldn’t be understated though
by the heavens what is this underrated gem I just stumbled upon
this album is so underrated
Holy fuck! Someone actually uploaded it! My favorite album of all time
You sure it's not Emergency & I?
@@vgmastercleveland Yeh... Emergency & I is in like my #5 spot lol still love the fuck outta it though
Thank you. I like how they sound--raw and ragged.
THE BEST ALBUM EVER
former evansvillian. thanks for the upload
You can tell these guys are outstanding musicians.
This record is sooo killer!
How did I get so old?
Here in December 29th almost the new year and still love this band and this whole album cranking it up loudddd wooooooooooo
Best album frevr
This album is so fun to play on drums. I wanna learn guitar just to learn this album again.
Rewatching Viva la Bam brought me here. This is some way underrated, authentic 1990s midwestern emo.
The best song on this album is hands down We Work.
Absolutely love this album. Ah, nostalgia.
People from a small town made an album about people from a small town and you should listen to their stories because it explains what it means to be human.
Thanks a lot for the upload!!
This band should be just as celebrated as Sunny Day Real Estate, if not more so.
if you like this you might like Such Gold's Misadventures
If the Treepeople and Small Brown Bike had a baby, this would be the gift bestowed to the world :)
saw them at UCSD campus in 2001, great show! At Shey Cafe or something
+Jonny Debt Che Cafe! That place is still here!
I played my first show the same night these guys were playing elsewhere in my city (2003). at the time I was surprised anyone showed up to mine, considering. wish I had been able to catch these guys, looking back I definitely made the wrong decision lol
feck yes
nice!!
I own the vinyl. My favorite. Who can help me get The Record Play on wax??
Here it is, man. Unfortunately very pricey :( www.discogs.com/Mock-Orange-The-Record-Play/release/2698963
20th Anniversary editions up on their site right now for 30 each
I'm moving a way, i feel this way or that. I'm incredibly human and there is no song about how I"m selling out. It's about the person next door that I knew for years and I'm not going to know them anymore and I don't know how to feel about it.
Apple Musicから無くなって泣いてる
Love these dudes once they graduated from their emo phase.
