  • How to make a cheap leg vise that is very easy to install and remove from the workbench. In this leg vise build I use a metallic clamp and some pieces of wood that I could find in my woodworking shop. So now I have a vertical wooden bench vise that will be very helpful to clamp wood in my workbench. In the second part I will improve this workbench vise and I will show how to use the pin board to keep the leg vice parallel with the workbench. This amazing woodworking project sure will help to work in many project ideas in your shop.

Briliant! THIS is innovation not the one that comes with a lot of money.

I literally can't even afford the threaded wood or metal rod for a typical leg vise. You just made this possible for me. Thank you!!

Sometimes simplicity, intoxicating and amazing, Creating your own from simple, cheap materials gives you great creativity and pleasure. You are a great carpenter, and you deserve great respect!

Of all your videos, this one one inspired me the most. A very clever idea, and it obviously works well. I had never even considered installing a leg vise before, because commercial products just cost too much for the amount I thought I might use it. However, with one built so cheaply as this could be, I am certain to make my own. Thank you very much for this.

Thank you very much :D I hope this leg vise will be very useful in your woodworking shop. In my next project I´ll try to improve it a little bit.

Hi Sir! I have watched some of your videos in the past and love the projects you have created. I was scrolling through videos for ideas for my workbench and came across the leg vise. I will be adding this to my bench. I love the fact that it is not a permanent piece so if I should decide to upgrade my bench I can remove it from my current bench and add it to the new. I have subscribed so as not to miss your videos. By the way, your English is excellent and spoken more clearly than some Americans I know, lol.

I found your channel through watching a different wood worker and I am so glad that I did! You are amazing and am so proud of you for your originality and creativity, everything is simple but Works just like you spent $1,000,000 on it. Not everyone has money to just go and buy the best tools out there but the ones that you have made work just the same if not better! so great job buddy. As a small, short girl, it is hard for me to use a lot of the big and heavy tools and Jigs so this has given me help with holding and working with the awkward size woods and tools. Thank you so much for your ideas they’re amazing.

Instead of dowel boards, how about a kick-board. See Jay Bates' pine and hickory workbenches. I think it would simplify construction and clamp-time.

Just FYI if you move metal files back and fourth you will doll them, only move them forward then pickup off the surface and push forward again.

The most innovative part of this plan is using adapting the bottom peg-board by creating two boards that fit on both sides of your 4x4 leg (or post). Instead of using your style of metallic clamp, I should be able to use a Harbor-Freight pipe clamp with holes drilled in the vise leg and two legs. I think!
