With BMW’s Diesel engines there’s always something that need to be replaced as a preventative. For example the timing chain for the N47 engine and EGR delete. For this car what needs to be maintained and replaced?

      - Dual Mass Flywheel
      - Turbo will go at around 120k miles
      - Heater core will clog around 150k miles
      - DPF will probably clog around 180k miles
      - Fuel Filter every 20k miles IIRC
      - DSG Fluid every 40k miles
      - Timing Belt needs to be done every 120k miles
Very tedious and aggressive maintenance required on these. If you have to send it to the dealer you will go broke trying to keep up with all the services.

I purchased a 2012 TDI Jetta in India last month with 1008000 KM covered. The local garage said the clutch and flywheel is damaged, axle boot, AC compressor, steering rack, water pump, timing kit, accessory belt, tensioner, steering ball joint and link rod both end.
Except AC compressor, I replaced all costing a considerable amount. Still I get sound from front wheel when accelerating or turning... but vehicle is solid build, fun to drive and a Stage 1 which are in my bucket list, can smoke a BMW 320 stock...
though I have to spent a little more to get it smooth and reliable, I honestly feels like it is worth the care.

Could you update me on this vehicle? Has anymore parts needed to be replaced since then?

I'm just getting ready to replace the fuel filter. Aside from replacing the drivers side DRL bulb nothing else has been needed. Just hit 38k miles!

Mikey... you mentioned rotating your tires since you had your car up... obviously you know I know very little about cars. Do you recommend swapping the front two tires with the back two tires every once in a while with ANY car?... in case that sounds like a stupid question.... I'm asking for a friend.

No such thing as a stupid question! Yes, regular tire rotation is good for any car. For a car where I only have 1 set of wheels/tires, 8-10k miles is a good mileage to rotate and if possible, balance the wheels. No balancer here, so I only get to rotate :)

@@mikesvirtualgarage9917 I dont know what most of that means, but I pretty much only drive to daycare and back home (about a 6 minute round trip drive) 5 days a week.... that 'rona got my mileage down.
