Wonderful memories of better times. Great stuff.
My family are from Eungai, Macksville and Kempsey area's. We always caught the Daylight Express from Broadmeadow to Eungai... Great to see it here!
Great video! Unfortunately my interest in trains as a kid arrived just after CTC was rolled out on the north coast and Deep South, so missed seeing auto-staff exchanging in action. Oddly not much video available orf this from NSW. Great to see your shot of this with the 45 class.
Those two upright tanks in the background at Coffs Harbour yard are not part of a locomotive depot or its sanding facility but form part of the Shell depot adjacent to the Boral Gas depot and its sausage tanks. There never was a locomotive depot in the town of Coffs Harbour because it was sandwiched between one at Grafton and one at Kempsey.
This is my absolutely favourite rail video possibly of all time. My family are from the Mid-North Coast and we travelled to the farm at Kendall on many occasions on N27/26. I absolutely adore the scenes of Alcos leading the Daylight cars through the quintessential scenery of the region. Notwithstanding, the area is one of my favourite regions for photographing trains. I really appreciate it!
Good old days
