I’m glad I found you. My wife is from Cebu and we are looking at moving from the US to Cebu
Thanks John for responding so quickly to the requests. ☺
Thank you for the good idea 💡 ☺️
Very informative video on setting up business here. 👍 Im sure both locals and foreigners would benefit from your vlog.
Really appreciate that!
Partly due to your channel and even few connections through them we have decided to incorporate in the Philippines. We dicided to go for OPC for various reasons. Thanks for great and helpful content.
That is awesome! Let me know if I can ever help with anything
Can you do a video on how buy and rent property in the Philippines?
Im trying or have been trying to start a business in the philippines..im not married there. You were talking before with a lady about OFC or something like that a single corporation. I was looking at the massive negative list...i couldnt understand if ALL retail businesses are not allowed or just some...not sure why the philippines treats foreigners so poorly..its too bad..they would have so much investment if they didnt. I love it there though im back in Canada. Hope they midernize thei laws...id love to go back and do so.e business. Love your channel
Hi Greg, appreciate your compliment. You don't need to be married to have an OPC here. I think its complicated here. I can understand how it feels unfair. Even with land ownership, even if you are married to a Filipina, you can't own land. So there are definitely some restrictions for foreigners here. It's only been since 2019 that there was such a thing as an OPC where foreigners could own many types of businesses 100%. Before that the most a foreigner could do is own a business 40%. So there is improvement being made, but still challenges. That said, I think there is still a lot of opportunities in the Philippines for businesses. As I've been doing research on opening an office for a client in Indonesia recently, there is also restrictions there and the entry fees are very high in comparison.
Always wondered that. Thanks John
Your welcome 😊 Thank you for watching
Nice been waiting for these vids :D
Thanks for being one of the people who suggested this type of topic!
Very well done good info as well 👍
Much appreciated Jude!
Great video John 👍🏻🇵🇭
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
Thank you John for the video. Do you have a recommendation for a business lawyer to keep on retainer? I appreciate your time...
Hi Jason, my pleasure. Can you email me a hello@johnsmulo.com and happy to pass on referral.
It all adds up ! Guess when you visit we'll be discussing an AMWAY business. 😂 Good info. John
Lol
Great vid
Thank you!
This was a great video, thank you!🙏
For small business owners, is it possible to hire people only on a freelance basis (and have them work out of a co-working space)? So the employee would responsible for all the government taxes and PhilHealth etc? Can you perhaps make a video on this? I'm comparing Vietnam (where setting up a "Representative Office" is super affordable and very little bureaucracy), or the Philippines. I'm planning a trip around Asia in a few months to find some great people, but not yet sure of where the best people are and where it's the cheapest and simplest for me to hire some staff. I'm only staying out there for a couple of months max, after that the employees would be all remote. Also, if you could cover the best places to advertise for workers in Cebu would be greatly appreciated. I'm considering your services at Purple Cow, but not quite there yet, need more info first!🤔
Great questions and I will try to answer some on a video. I'd be happy to do a call though to answer more of these questions if helpful. Feel free to reach out on Facebook or hello@johnsmulo.com
@@JohnSmuloTV Thank you, will keep watching, and will also reach out via email as my trip gets closer. Flights to Vietnam booked already, but I'm still researching Philippines.
@@ShareTradingAdvice Sounds great
Hi, would an Artist Development Program meet the Training Centre requirements for 100% Foreigner Owned, and what if it is linked to a Recording Studio, would that be a viable Service?
Hi Gary, it's really expensive to do something that is for locals, but in a bigger city like Manila could well be viable.
Wondering if some employers will fire people before December or some type of work around to avoid the 13th month?
That's not possible legally because it's prorated and needed to be paid before am employee leaves. However, there are employees that wait to the 13th month to collect the extra money and then quit
@@JohnSmuloTV I heard that some stores only hire people as temporary work or independent contractor to avoid paying benefits. Can you go over some of that in a future video?
@@dardosjourney4359 Let me try to think of how to incorporate that into a bigger topic but doesn't sound legal.
@@dardosjourney4359 Agree that more information on independent contractors and what the rules are for that would be great! Let's hope we get a video like that!🙏
CEBUUUU ❤❤❤
Cebu 😁
Hy sir! I wanna open pakistani food restaurant in Philippines. Is pakistani food people will like in Philippines? Can you guide me?
Hello, I would recommend doing free taste tests of your food for Filipinos and asking them if they would pay for it if you opened a restaurant. I would also consider opening it near a university where there are more Pakistani students studying to be nurses and doctors here. Feel free to send me a message on Facebook or email.
More curious how much it would take to start a plastic recycling business.
I'm sorry I'm not sure on that but if I can help somehow let me know
Hey John, is there any resources for expats owning franchises in the Philippines?
Hey Darren, I'm sorry I'm not sure on the legalities of that but happy to refer you to a business attorney who would know more. Consultations are usually only around $20-$30
Hi John, I would like to have the contact of the business attorney when you get a chance thank you! @@JohnSmuloTV
