Trespassing, breaking and entering, and vandalism are NOT civil affairs. The cops always say that and walk away, leaving criminals in the house and the homeowners out on the street. What the hell has happened to the legal rights of folks? What would a cop do if he came home and a bunch of guys had changed his locks, moved in with pizzas and dogs - and said they were renters? I'll bet that cop would not walk away for a year waiting for some dumb judge to order the squatters out.

It’s our leaders you should be mad at. claiming they care about the working class….wolves in sheeps clothing leading the lambs to slaughter. they don’t allow tiny homes on wheels but they allow people to put up tents on the streets and pieces of crap squat in other peoples homes all the while giving them free drugs. Why can’t they be charged with "misdemeanor conversion" or maybe in this case "felony conversion," because it’s a HOME? A misdemeanor conversion charge is when a person knowingly or intentionally exerts unauthorized control over property of another person. Isn’t that exactly what squatters are doing?? And how about trespassing, and breaking and entering since I’m sure they didn’t have permission to be on the property or keys to get inside. Then, let’s follow it up with vandalism!! Look what they’ve done to the place!! And I would guess they are tearing up, looking for copper - the plumbing, wiring. They’ll strip it, sell it, then head off to their dealer. Yeah, it’s complete BS squatters are allowed to get by doing this while law enforcement stand back saying it’s a civil matter! It’s not only civil! Real laws are being broken by squatters and law biding citizens are stuck paying the hefty price!

And where are we renters supposed to, you know, rent from? Not all of us want to live in a soulless 30-story apartment in SLU... some of us like renting from individuals. What if she has an extra house because she inherited it? What if she owns the home and moved away for a year for work and knew coming back she wouldn't be able to buy a new house. What if she owns three houses and rents two out? What is wrong with that? Better than a corporation buying up properties and renting them out without ever being on site. Not all of us want to own so I for one would like to have a large assortment of rental properties to choose from.

When people own multiple properties. And more and more people are forced onto the streets because of rising housing cost. You will see more of this. The US needs to regulate the amount of single unit housing that can be owned by one person or business. Capitalism left unregulated is a dismal failure. And we are seeing the results of it every day.
