    Plots are never a good investment. Most of us do it for bragging rights. I would rather invest in a short term financial product. I look at plots as a store of value... And it's very difficult to sell at a good price since beauty lies on the beholder

      @fxstreetprofits, plots are a good investment if you can wait. However, if you don’t have a good network, financial products are the way to go. Like IFBs (infrastructure bonds) in 253, or index funds like Vanguard here in USA. No management and can cash out whenever. I agree.

    We are investing in the US with my family where the system works. If we decide to retire in Kenya someday that's when we will look into buying a land or do some investments while there in person. Kenya is becoming something else. Not to be trusted with your hard earned money.

      @BANANALANDMEDIA  Před měsícem +1

      It depends. Remember foreigners are investing in kenya hata kama si mashamba. Meaning the country will grow and you should not be left behind. However, you must do due diligence before you buy. A lot of gated communities are safe to invest in because it’s hard to grab.

    • @paulinegaines
      @paulinegaines Před měsícem +1

      @ruirwathika As a kenyan born and raised in Kenya, I have my two cents about investing in kenya, let's stop sugarcoating because it's our country, it's a place you go ahead and invest at your own risk, it's different with everyone, you may not be a victim of any negative outcome but to me, I will keep investing where I am where I am sure the system works 100%. If someday we decide to go back to retire there, as Sam said, the lands will not get finished, and investing would still be possible, currently with the current government it's a huge NO to me.

      @@paulinegaines investing is personal matter. During Moi’s time when everyone was fleeing Kenya for greener pastures, including yours truly, my bro who sponsored me majuu was busy buying land. Others were busy selling to finance their journeys majuu. I have to admit his advocate wife was working in Kenya and helping with due diligence. I know his college mate who sold a plot in Gigiri in the mid-90s. Now they are retired and the one who sold in Gigiri is retired in Kenya and living in an apartment in Westlands. My bro bought 6 acres pole pole late 90s, early 2000s. He was buying between 600k-1.2M. He’s selling a half acre for 50M. But I think if you don’t have a team in the ground, don’t do it. I have developed a team of family members-yes, I said it. The cliche is that family members will freeze you. Yes and No. I have worked with more than 10 members. When once screws, there’s another waiting to take their place. Each succeeding member has done better than the previous one. The 10th member I’m working with is buying land for me, building, and running an orchard, my sanctuary in the countryside. As I look to retire, I’ve built a network of trustworthy family members who treat and protect me like a cash cow. I’m a cash cow cos I’m providing jobs. In return, my homes in Kenya are watched over with hawks eyes. If you plan to retire in Kenya, start early. Buy land in a gated community. Build pole pole. You’ll never regret. Ignore governments like my brother ignored the oppressive Moi regime. Kenya remains the second best investment destination in Africa after South Africa. In 15 years, Kenya will be unrecognizable.

    Overall good advice but investing in land in Kenya is lucrative. Don’t hesitate to invest if you have means and have done due diligence. Waiting is like waiting for Apple stocks which in 2000 were selling for $23 and today are selling for $212. I’ve had my fair share of land litigations in Kenya which was very stressful-flying in for a court case only to find out when I’m on the ground that my case didn’t make it to the court that day. Luckily, after 15 yrs, I won the case and got my farm land back. Interestingly, same year I bought the 3-acre farm land, I spent equal amount of money and bought a half-acre piece of land. 20 years later, my 1.2M investment has turned to 50M. 50 M is enough to finance my retirement. Invest wisely.

      @@BANANALANDMEDIA consider doing a video on small unique businesses people can engage in here in USA instead of employment. Not tracking, not home health care, not buying homes for the disabled/aged. Small unique businesses like pharmaceutical deliveries with own fleet of small cars etc. I’m asking for someone relocating from Kenya at near middle age, doesn’t want to be employed regular jobs which will pay minimum or just above minimum wage, but has a sponsor who can refinance a house and fund the startup.
