Unfortunately for me I purchased the 12 upgrade for $99 last December. I want 13, but I’m not spending another $200 =300 to do so. So it’s Black Friday for me. 😊

Excellent review. I was on the fence on upgrading. But your point about trying it out for a buck with Reason Plus convinced me. I’ve actually used Reason Plus before and I still got the $1 offer. So, that might be useful info for someone.

And Reason makes it stupid easy to cancel Plus. It’s not buried somewhere on their site. It’s right up front.
I don't see myselft dropping Reason as a creative tool, and a DAW, anytime soon.

Happy subscriber here, checked out a lot of your beats Chris Reed, I really like that first beat you played in this demo when you used the sustain petal.
I really dig Reason 13, haven't upgraded yet, there's some events I'm painfully saving for to attend, then I can do the upgrade, I really made the most beats I have in a long time last month and a couple of awesome new beats that just blow my mind at what's possible with Reason 12.
That Ripley effect excites me most, it all looks and sounds amazing. I love the possibilities and think I will like using the sidechain tool more then using Synchronous to sidechain. Should be easier to find instead of digging through a few folders to get to a sidechain.

The 3 utilities should be updates to existing devices or baked into the channel mixer, we already have a free pumper. These basic functions exist in all other DAWs
The 2 new devices should be offered as in shop purchases.
The "functionality update" should be free since it is the number one thing asked for since forever and something standard in all other DAWs, the updated browser....it's just a browser, and it takes a step back because you can't make fav lists with external devices or have a thumbnail view, they literally took one step forward and two steps back.
This should be Reason 12.5 free update to compete with Logics free update and FL's perpetual one.
Agreed I have Reason plus and I am not gonna install this joke , watch stock musician as he says that's a Reason literally a much behind other DAWS and Sef said he's not liked a new workflow
@@djshmul1 why not trying it for yourself instead of quoting youtubers ? And you are a reason+ user like me, u can still keep ur reason 12 or whtver version u have i think.
@@Nenko_Music I watched a live stream before this and others on another channel ,so ,why would I even complicated my self with whatever reason think they did? Maybe it's so best for the artist that using 4 bars loop ,but for others it's for 100%sure it's gonna slow down worklow, like the tags , hey what sound do I need I'll mark here and there oh darn it's not that one , again ,still not the same,and instead of writing music I'll keep learning exactly what? I don't see Cris happy with it either. I'll will critic it's the only way Reason will understand that's it's not worth 200 dollars and the need to make a better job , like tool window they could leave some of the features on top as it was and if you wanted in different window you just drog it to any location , so it's that's really simple. BTW I have Reson and Reason plus and still don't want it, not worth it , I want to create music and not to figure out where is what now
@@djshmul1 fair enough.I was beta tester so i had plenty of time to adapt. I use both linear and loops in my process, and I can tell you maybe it is not worth the upgrade considering the new instruments for instance, but as u said you are a R+ user so i just wonder why u wouldnt give it a try. I just deleted my 12 version today because im at ease with new one, im gonna tell u its not Thtat different haha. So im in the boat now, different or not, better or not. I focus on what is improved and there is improvement, mostly clarity of the UI. Granted it s not really huge, granted it s not something you can feel while watching streams though. But still i think its a better version.
edit . Polytone is that analog virtual synth that brings a different tone to the game. Usually you would look up for VST to get that sound. I hadnt tested much before, doing it right now and i wont lie, im impressed...plus it has the morph feature like a Polybrute

Dope beat as always Chris , never saw so you that disappointed, i watch yours streams for 2-3 past weeks and you were happy , with that other daw .About tool windows it a pian in the a... they coud leave what they have above in the same spot couze its ez and just make us move it arround like new browser or put it back , as i see Reason dont know what they doing i mean hey lets do this , no and thats just bunch stuff without normal common sense, no one from any videos and streams that i saw kinda happy with this, as you said go for companion and then like pshpsh😂😂😂

Can anyone tell me how to export MIDI notes from ABL3 in Reason 13 ?? for the life of me I cannot believe it is not there when I right click anywhere on the instrument ?

I'm really excited for Reason 13! The new browser, sequencer, and devices show that Reason is really focused on improving our workflow. Regarding the price, I understand that the company needs to sustain itself, especially given the current times. As for the criticism, if you don't like Reason, you don't have to buy or upgrade. Just my opinion, no offense intended.
and all the "people say" all over again without even trying it. The first day i used it, I was quite ranting myself... 2 weeks later I can say I cannot go back to previous versions. Even my comment above is dated. Hours later,excepted 1 or 2 minor problems, or stomethign i haven t totally figured out, I m enjoying this. Cheers.
@@Nenko_Music You must be either using Reason as a VST or don't have many external VSTs because the lack of being able to group them with thumbnails is a time killer. I have a list for every type of FX and synths.
The 2 main features of this update are the synth and the delay and they should be available as separate purchases and the rest should be a free update to bring them at lest 50% closer to where they should be as a DAW. Even then, the lack of user defined fav lists kills any time saving measures this update is supposed to fix.
@@chocomalk never said its perfect. Im using it as a daw and i have many vsts. My workflow is fine.
@@Nenko_Music I gotta ask, how do you manage? I just checked your channel and you must have a ton of synths. Ob Cherry audio is your go to so maybe you have your favs, but I have like over 500 VSTs. Imagine what a Plugin alliance subscription looks like without thumbnails.

@@chocomalk Thanx for the kind words mate. Well I try to keep it as minimal as I can, and I must admit im quite attracted by what offers Cherry Audio. Other than that I have the usual suspects concerning free vst for the effect...think Valhalla,Softube Knob etc......and some really nice discoveries. But ,inside Reason we are lucky with the instruments and effects. I use them as much as I can too. i don t know. I would agree with you though o jate to scroll like this to find what i want. Hopefully thers the screenshot feature for the vsts, but doesn thelp much,some Ui are similar.

Upgrade price is ridiculous.
Propellerheqf has been talking about worklflow ad nauseum. It took 13 versions of reason to get it to where it is today. The sequencer is still lagging way behind. Taking way too long. Don't need anymore synths. It's getting redundant
