  • In this video I show you how to diagnose a flashing glow spiral dash light fault.
    This is for engine code CAYC on all vag models, probably similar solution on similar tdi cr engine from volkswagen.
    Using obdeleven I found fault code p242a exhaust gas temperature sensor 3 cylinder bank 1. It can be quit hard to sort out which sensor you should swap out to solve this issue. By disconnecting the sensor(s) you while the scan tool is connected you can determine which one is the faulty.
    Always use ceramic anti seize pasta when reassembling.

    P242A - sensor B1 S3 is the brown one, I just switched mine on Golf 6 (in Golf 6 is behind DPF), length is 600 mm. After switching I checked on VCDS and got no errors.

      @tmdrtn  Před rokem

      Hello! Not sure, if you have 2 different problems in your electronics it would be worth to thoroughly check all wiring in the engine bay for damage. That problem I have not dealt with yet. But perhaps it is the electric coolant pump wiring?

      Hello Mark, I use the first generation obdeleven pro version, this is a none subscription solution, still use it and is sufficient for me, manual long coding is also working very good with this setup. Unfortunately they "upgraded" to another solution with some functionality taken away at a higher price. Best of luck to you!

      Hello thank you for watching and subscribing! Yes p242a indicates identical problem, please verify as in video before replacing the sensor. Fluctuations during idle or surging can be caused by several things such as injectors, hpp but likely if there is no fault code I would suspect the egr valve.

      You can use all functions in pro without buying a single credit. If you code yourself it is for free, the credit system is for using preprogrammed coding changes which you won't need when longcoding, diagnose etc is also free
