According to Big Show on the Stone Cold podcast, when DX invaded Bischoff was going around saying he wanted to challenge Vince a a fight. Hogan then apparently turned to Show and said “Vince is crazy he’ll tear his eye out”

I can believe it, if half of what was reported is true, Vince McMahon is absolute apeshit. Dude is probably some form of bipolar and likely has a history of some roid rage.

I tend to believe that McMahon wouldn't want DX going into the Scope. Your own product is finally catching up and even beating the competition, and if they appear on Nitro, that just goes back to how the "anything can happen on Nitro" vibe Bischoff wanted to create.

Nah I don't think so. If the people know that DX, a stable from the rival's company, successfully made it inside and cause further chaos, it would've been a spat in the face for WCW.
Eric Bischoff does the right thing at the time by closing the door on DX, as well as Vince and Triple H for capitalizing the both companies rivalry by invading them.

You know... with hindsight being 2020... If the WWF & WCW knew Vince was going to end up buying WCW; just imagine what kind of angles we could've had if they never closed those shutters. Of course Vince wouldn't want to see his guys lose because that'd result in wrestling fans viewing WCW as superior but this could've been something that laid the groundwork for the "WCW Invasion" in 2001.
Granted this is all fantasy booking & definitely would've never seen the time of day but there were so many possibilities here. With the success of the DX Invasion, I'm SHOCKED Vince didn't book something similar for the WCW/ECW invasion in 2001. I guess it's just something that will live on in our minds in an array of "what ifs" from yesteryear.

In those days You could wear any wrestling shirt you wanted without getting kicked out. My cousin wore his NWO Wolf pack shirt to a WWF house show in 1999 and someone next to him started singing "Don't turn your back on the wolf pack". I started doing the Ric Flair yell and fans yelled back lol. It was all in good fun and many of us fans watched both promotions. WCW only did one Nitro in my area in the fall 2000 but by then all the top stars were gone and the Monday night Wars were over

Unless the DX guys started calling out specific WCW talent or trying to make them look weak/stupid on TV, you're spot on with your take on what would've happened (or not happened I suppose) if they opened the doors and let them in. It's not like Bischoff was a Paul Heyman type figure that had this group of guys that were fiercely loyal to him - hell, from what I've seen in interviews and documentaries, etc., a lot of guys didn't even like Bischoff all that much. He was useful for getting them those fat guaranteed contracts, but not exactly the type of guy you're going to go to war for.
