Played a shaman for a really long time. This might work on p99, but it doesn't really work the way you'd think on the actual EQ servers. The client likes to report false data before the server officially updates them. It's client side prediction and EQ's version of it is very rudimentary. So what happens is you'll get a false tick a few seconds before the servers have a "real" tick". Even when you have 35ms ping as I do generally, it has nothing to do with lag or latency. It's just a false client-side number that mismatches the server. What people can do to get around it is to wait a second or two after the false client-side tick and then cast their cannibalize and sit immediately. If you're lucky, you won't miss the proper sit mana regen counter. The absolute best way to handle it is to just have a mount, but many zones and servers that you want to play on as a hardcore player won't support it.
It happens to me for my Shaman on p99 as well, it becomes a lot more consistent if you wait a second or two before using your canni but it is annoying.
