  • In this video I show you how to adjust pocket doors without removing moldings. I simply use an angled 3/8 wrench used for adjusting bifold closet doors.

Thank you Adam. This is perfect, exactly what I needed. Tip: use a headlamp to keep your hands free.

I wish I could watch it without getting dizzy.
Couldn't see what I'm to unlock, and which way it's supposed to be flicked.
Maybe an assistant to hold the camera, while you wear a headlamp?
I HOPE you can redo this very much needed DIY video.

Yes, some rare times you can adjust the door without removing the trim, but not very often. You won’t tear up the trim or the door adjusting it because you have more room. Be sure to lube with spray silicone also, NOT WD-40

I am having the same issue with my pocket door. I have to lift the bottom with my foot to lock it. I am going to try placing a wheel at the bottom to give it more support when sliding back and forth. I also put an alternative lock on the door so it's easier to get it locked and back to business. It's a henge lock that just flips over and secures the door.

The angled wrench should have came with the door kit when it was purchased but if a contractor built your house then it’s likely that you don’t have one.

Thanks so much for this! I don't know yet if I can find the wrench (I'm in Canada) but I'm about to give it a go--at least there's some hope.

Thank you for explaining I understood it perfect.
Just an idea get a camera and strap it to your head like a go pro so we can see what you see. But thank you for your idea

Jeff Malnar thank you for your feedback. It was my first video. I will definitely have to redo the video to make it easier to see.

I don’t think strapping it to your head will work though. Replacing an eye with a camera would though. But I don’t think it’s worth it unless you plant to make CZcams videos full time

Yea agree with you Adam everyone is taking the trims off around the door and you don't have to do that, maybe if its old door but minds is modern like 2015

What if I can’t access the but from the side ? Also where can you buy one of these 3/8 offsetwrenches

    • @acol747ac

I could only access from the sides as well. I googled an offset 3/8 wrench or pocket/bi-folding closet door wrench. Good luck.

Take it apart for access is the only way . People should learn not to slam pocket doors and there would be no issues mostly. So tell your wife , tell your kids not to shove books in the openings and don’t slam the doors . Now you’re trim is all jacked because you’re too lazy to take off the trim . I would not recommend anyone do it this way especially on a nice home . If the door is stuck in the pocket drywall has to be removed to access the door
