Video games, music, and movies are nothing, son! That's just entertainment!
Still important, but there are good things about digital copies, like convenience, less manufacturering and less waste.
Unfortunately none of those were reasons why they did it. Digital just meams more profit for them!
Spotify, Facebook, Tik Tok, CZcams and white supremacist and Porn ad Twitter 2.0, do not even produce an actual product.
I believe Bruce Willis tried to leave his 10,000+(?) ITunes library to his kids in his will. Apple said NOPE, you don't own that shet!
What's evem more scary is that present and future gens may not be able to even own their own physical homes! Now we're talking life!
This already is and will continue to get worse, making the middle class shrink even more!
Owning a home or property and giving it to their children after death is a form of generational wealth and was the way most families achieved higher income status.
If your grandfather was white, he most likely could have gotten a loan and paid for home on a single income, working at a department store with a stay at home wife.
But, your grandpa was not white. Or least one of your grandparents wasn't I'm assuming, which would've had the same result anyway. Which was that most Banks would not lend money to black people for homes or businesses.
It was called redlining and was only made illegal after the Civil Rights Movemnet!
And get this! In a effort to boost the military for the Vietnam War, serviceman were promised the G.I. Bill, which either paid for a home loan or college tuition if they served in the war.
Guess which group of people didn't get either of those choices?
While this happened in what seems to be a long time ago, it truly wasn't long enough to not still see it's repercussions.
Sorry for the long response, but it all falls under what we are in now, late stage capitalism.
And you can't discuss US capitalism without racism. Those two beotches worked together making it systemic!
Why TF do you think we are the ONLY developed country in the entire world to not provide healthcare to all of its citizens ?
    Racism and Capitalism (for profit)!

I agree with everything you said. I don't really bring these topics to this channel and keep it on my second one, but I constantly think about these things all the time. All these things are definitely interconnected.

@justjez thanks for listening, haha! Sorry, but this whole anti-woke narrative by right-wing pricks re: movies, video games, sports, politics, pisses me TF off! Excuse my language.
      One last thing.
We don't even own or own personal data!!!!!!!!!!!
They're selling our data for profit and using us for AI learning and we get none of the profits! Na-da!😡✌️👊😁
Ps: Lisa from Blackpink dropped "Rockstar" which I think you will enjoy. She sneaks in some "wokeness" too! haha. Already got into fights over it!😂

There's necessity in both mediums. For example let's say inflation just kicked you in the ass yet again and eating just became even more expensive with no work raise in sight and now something has to be trimmed from the budget for a bit. Wifi gets the axe. You'll be damned glad you still have that pile of dvds/blurays you held onto.
Always keep some physical media around. Granted I keep mine in one of those cd/dvd binders, no jewel cases.
I freaking love technology and marvel at it often, but know at the same time I will always, always own a physical AM/FM radio. Some things you just hold onto, no matter the advances.

@@byerenny there’s definitely a balance to be had. Especially with how times are changing financially yeah.
